Light & lashy: Getting long and natural lashes with Lithe Lashes

Okay, so ever since I got my lash lift and tint, I haven’t even thought about wearing false lashes. I mean, not that I really do my makeup big anymore anyways, but when I do, I do find that some mascara does the trick for big bold lashes.

As pretty as my natural lashes are though, there ain’t nothing like adding a pair of falsies to really pump up the volume.

I have a few different favourite lash brands, but I’m always down for trying out new brands.  Lithe Lashes recently reached out to me to try out a couple pairs and I wasn’t familiar with their line prior to this month.

Lithe eyelashes

Lithe Lashes designs lashes that are more on the natural side of things as opposed to completely out-there lashes. Their lashes comes in a range of styles and are cruelty free, vegan, and come in an eco-friendly packaging. The whole brand is based around less waste. From their no-frills packaging to the way the lashes are made, there is zero waste with their products and I’m all about using beauty products are leave our earth feeling and looking happier.

Each style of lashes come in a square box with a tray that slides out revealing the lashes.  Their site actually guides you to selecting the right lash for you and the style you may be going for.  The brand sent me a couple pairs to try out, 02 and 08.

Lithe 02 lashes

02 is their Everyday Round style ($22 USD), (above) which is a medium-length round lash with minimal volume.   If you are looking for some added oomph but nothing too bold then these would be perfect for you.  I would wear these on a day date or brunch with the girls since they add just a bit of thickness and length to your natural lash but aren’t too noticeable that people will know you’re wearing false lashes.

08 ($22 USD) is their cross-crossed and winged style (below) that is long and full of volume.  These are more like your typical false lash that you would find from a variety of different brands. These are great to wear for date nights or a girls night out.

Lithe 08 lashes

In total, they offer eight styles to choose from, from completely natural to more bolder styles (08 is the boldest one they have).  The brand also has a variety of accessories, such as applicators, lash glue, and eyelash curlers, basically everything you need to complement your new lashes.

I really enjoyed these lashes and I definitely feel like I will get a lot of wear out of these. I love the background of the brand and the fact that they offer more natural styles to choose from.  I have a lot of false lashes in my collection, but find that I usually gravitate more towards medium styles that look more natural rather than overdone.  If you’re like me and looking for something that won’t make it obvious that you’re wearing falsies, definitely look into Lithe.

Feeling whipped: New innovations from Olay

One thing that I ensure I do every morning is apply a facial sunscreen.

Did you know that only one-in-five women apply SPF to their face every morning among those who have a morning routine? I get it, I personally have five steps in my morning skincare routine, so to add another step on top of that is a lot.  The great way of getting around it? Find a moisturizer with an SPF in it!

Genius, right?

Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 and new Olay serums

If you are on the hunt for a new daytime moisturizer with included SPF then look no further than Olay’s newest release, the Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 (C$39.97) which combines the brand’s Whip technology with their anti-aging Regnerist technology to gives you a breathable, light moisturizer that also will protect your skin from aging.  Oh, and it also has SPF 40 in it, obviously!

In case you aren’t familiar with Olay Whip, it is a light formula that transforms from cream to liquid on contact, meaning a little goes a long way. It also absorbs fast on your face and doesn’t leave your pores clogged, making your skin breathable.

The Regenerist part contains their Amino-Peptide Complex II, which hydrates to improve your skin’s elasticity and firm skin for a more lifted appearance.  The formula contains Niacinamide (Vitamin B3 to retain moisture), hyaluronic acid (for hydration), and amino peptide (to make skin look firmer).

In addition, it also includes their innovative SolaSheer Technology to hydrate and nourish skin, while protecting it against UVA/UVB rays.  Unlike other sunscreens, the formula isn’t greasy and it’s also 100 per cent oil free. Apply this to your skin for a matte appearance that feels breathable, will firm skin, and give you amazing sun protection.

Pair their new moisturizer with one of their brand-new serums. In case you don’t already use serums, I’ll be the first person to tell you that you definitely should. The difference between moisturizers and serums is that a serum contains a more concentrated formula. When shopping for one, you definitely want to look for something that targets your specific skin concern, which is why Olay’s new serums are great.

These serums comes in three different formulas designed to target different skin issues. There is Tone Perfection, Deep Hydration, and Wrinkle Correction.

Tone Perfection (C$39.98) is for those who have uneven skin tone, whether from lack of sleep, environmental stressors, or just plain-old stressed out. It is formulated for dull or uneven skin tone and contains key ingredients of Vitamin B3 and Vitamin C.  This serum is aimed to give you brighter-looking skin with a healthy glow.

Deep Hydration (C$39.98) is for dry skin, making it great for those who live in dry climates or the frequent flyer (when we can fly again one day freely).  This serum is formulated with Vitamin B3 and hyaluronic acid and will be a tall glass of water to give you dewy, long-lasting hydration.  This would be great to stock up on as we head into the colder months. Coming from Winnipeg, this will be a total must since we experience really dry winters.

Finally, Wrinkle Correction (C$39.98) is aimed for aging skin and is great for those who have mature skin or even those in their late 20’s and early 30’s. The idea of anti-aging skincare is to use it when you’re young so it can act as a preventative measure as we age.  This contains Vitamin B3 and peptides and will visibly reduce lines and wrinkles, leaving you with younger-looking skin.

Pick up one, two, or all three and cocktail them together for a custom skincare routine aimed at giving you your most perfect skin yet. Apply the a few drops of the serum before your moisturizer (like the Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40) to keep your skin feeling and looking fresh, hydrated, and youthful looking.

All of these products are brand new so I’m still testing them out, but in general I’ve always been a huge fan of Olay skincare since it’s so affordable and works wonders on your skin. I highly recommend picking up the moisturizer if you don’t already use a facial SPF, and even if you do, having a two-in-one product makes life so much easier in the morning.

Pretty and perfect: Two YSL Beauty pressed powders you need to add to your collection

There are just some makeup items that are just too pretty to use.  That’s how to felt when I got YSL Beauty’s All Hours Universal Pressed Setting Translucent Powder.

This powder comes in a beauty matte black and gold compact that opens to a translucent powder with YSL embossed on it.  It was so pretty that I brought it to New York and would toss it in my bag on nights on when I needed a mirror to touch up my lipstick.

Eventually I started using the powder and I recently got another one of their powders so I’m trying not to hoard and baby them and actually put them to use.

YSL Beauty All Hours Universal Pressed Setting Translucent Powder

First up is the All Hours Universal Pressed Setting Translucent Powder (C$60), which is a powder that can be used alone to build coverage or over foundation and concealer to set liquid products and give you a matte complexion.

Open the beautiful matte black and gold compact to reveal a white pressed powder that is designed to absorb oil to mattify your face and set foundation.  It goes on smoothly thanks to translucent microspheres that lock in makeup and keep your skin looking and feeling soft and flawless for hours.

You can lift up the powdered part to reveal a sponge to apply it with. I like applying this with a brush to give me a light wash of the powder, but the applicator sponge is great to have when you’re on the go and need some touch ups.

YSL Beauty All Over Glow Powder

The second powder is brand new from the line and is designed to give you a radiant glow. The All Over Glow Powder (C$60) is a blend between a highlighter and a finishing powder and will give you a natural glow.

This also comes in a beautiful compact that features a stunning iridescent pink lid with the YSL lid.  Open it up to reveal a nude-coloured pressed powder with the same logo embossed in the powder. This powder does have a hint of iridescent shimmer in it but it’s designed to give you that beautiful glow from within kinda look.

It features iridescent micro-pearls that brightens up your complexion. Apply it either over top of foundation or by itself for an ethereal glow. You can also just apply it to the high points of your face for a subtle highlight. Lift the powder part to reveal a sponge that makes on-the-go touch ups super simple.

YSL All Over Glow Powder and All Hours Universal Pressed Setting Translucent Powder and

So if I had to choose just one compact which one would it be? They are both stunning and clearly they are quite different, but if I must choose then I would go with the All Hours powder since I love a matte face and if you suffer from oily skin (which I don’t), I think you’ll really love it. Honestly though, the All Over Glow Powder is also such a fab powder and although both of them are wonderful, the part that really makes them stand out is the packaging.

A YSL bag may cost over $1,500, but a YSL compact is only $60. If you want to add some extra luxe into your life then I would definitely pick one of these up.
