The next best thing: Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen

When it comes to the authority in eyebrow products, it’s safe to assume that it’s Benefit Cosmetics.

Although all of their products are great, if you are looking for some serious brow products that will take you from zero to 60, then Benefit has you covered. They have just about anything and everything brow-related in their line up, but sometimes it can be difficult to narrow down which exact product you’ll actually need.

Now you guys know I have microbladed brows, which I love, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t use brow products anymore.  For the most part, I can leave my brows bare, however, if I’m doing my makeup big or if the pigment is fading, I will use a brow product to fill in any sparsity here or there.  Also, when I apply foundation, sometimes it covers up the pigment, so I like to just go over it with a brow product anyways.

So this brings me to today’s post.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen

If you every wanted to get microbladed brows but are unsure if they are for you, then I think you’ll love their new Brow Microfilming Pen (C$33). This brow pen mimics a microblading blade in that it has three ultra-fine lines that apply to your skin in one stroke.

This product creates the illusion of natural brow hair thanks to the innovative tip which lightly and naturally applies the product to your skin. The three tips are different lengths to give you the same effect as microblading, but without the commitment.  This pen is also waterproof, smudge-proof and long-wearing.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen

The Brow Microfiling Pen comes in four shades; Blonde; Light Brown; Medium Brown; and Deep Brown. Benefit sent me Medium Brown which I find matches perfectly.  I was really excited to use this and was struck by how much I liked it after the first try. I thought the product would go on boldly, but the formula is quite faint, meaning that you can’t really overdo it and it really does make your brows look super natural. Seriously, looking at the photos below the difference is so subtle, which when it comes to brows, you want them to suit your face, not take away from it.

I really love this product and feel like it will be my new favourite brow product.  I love a good pencil, but the way the tip works on this one is so innovative and really does work well and give you a natural brow look.

Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen swatched

It looks like it’s sold out on Sephora online but you can order through Benefit or check in store.  Don’t let the tip fool you, I think you’ll really love this product and what it will do for your brows.

Serum savvy: Three serums you need to try from Nature Collection

I’ve tried a lot of Korean beauty products and when it comes to skincare, they are one of top countries I would say who offer the best skincare products.

When I went to Asia a few years ago we had a stopover in South Korea and since we were there for so long, we did a city tour between flights.  I had been familiar with The Face Shop for awhile and although I had known it was from Korea, I didn’t realize that they actually had many stores there (I just thought it was Korean-inspired).

Anyways, ever since then I have gotten this newfound connection to The Face Shop, which is now known as Nature Collection, and has a ton of different skincare lines under its umbrella, including Dr.Belmeur, Isa Knox, CNP, Sooryehan and Beyond.

Although we are at the tail end of summer here, I recently received a box of goodies from the brand to try out and I couldn’t wait to dig in.  They sent over a variety of different moisturizers, serums, body products, etc., and since I love trying out new skincare I wanted to highlight some products that I’m the most excited to try.

I love using serums in my routine, sometimes even multiple ones a night, so if you are on the hunt for a new one, then keep reading…

Dr. Belmeur Cica Peptide Ampoule and CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Serum

Dr. Belmeur Cica Peptide Ampoule

If your skin is looking and feeling tired, then give it a jolt of energy with the Dr. Belmeur Cica Peptide Ampoule (C$65).

This serum is filled with plant-based ingredients that have similar components to our skin. The line is designed to hydrate dry skin and is ideal for those who have sensitive, problem skin, as well as those looking for anti-aging products.

Included in the product is Centella asiatica and a peptide complex that wakes up tired skin, creates a smoother surface, and helps to strengthen the skin barrier, leaving you with firmer and toned skin.

Add a few drops to your skin before your moisturizer and apply morning and night for the best results.

CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Serum

CNP is a line that is brand-new to me and stands for Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals. It was developed in conjunction with dermatologists to provide clients with the perfect skincare protocol after cosmetic procedures.

This line is for those looking to restore and revitalize skin’s appearance and those who have normal to dry skin that is dull and tired. It is also fine for sensitive skin as well.

The CNP Propolis Energy Serum (C$38) is a serum that helps to improve dry, flaky, tired, dull skin by providing nourishment, moisture and soothing for your face. The star ingredient is propolis, which is extracted from hives and is known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to hydrate the skin, while improving firmness and a healthy glow.

This serum also includes hyaluronic acid for hydration and moisture, and CNP’s Anti-Irritant Complex to address sensitivities caused by external irritants.

CNP Invisible Peeling Booster

CNP Invisible Peeling Booster

Okay, so this one isn’t a serum but instead a peel that that gently removes dead skin cells while also hydrating the skin.

The CNP Invisible Peeling Booster (C$45) does not need to be removed after application and is a low-irritant peel that is suitable for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. It contains polyhydroxy acids to remove skin cells and Allantoin to soothe. It also has a natural moisturization factor complex to maintain the skin’s moisture level by hydrating and preventing the evaporation of water from the skin.

This product helps to provide a variety of benefits to the skin in as little as seven days. Those benefits include effectively removing impurities from the skin, soothing irritation, improve clarity, increase hydration, control natural oil, brighten skin tone, and improve skin texture.

Nature Collection also sent over a ton of other products which I can’t wait to dig into, so stay tuned for future information on what their spring/summer 2020 releases includes.

What are your favourite serums?

Hair and there: My top-three favourite Bumble & Bumble products

I have a lot of hair products.

Considering that I only really wash my hair twice a week, I do love having an arsenol of haircare products. At home in Winnipeg I literally have a whole shelf devoted to haircare products (some of which definitely need to be thrown out at this point #HoarderProblems). Anyways, here in Montreal I do have some favourite haircare products I use, which are all from Bumble & Bumble.

If you guys remember, the brand really treated me like a princess during NYFW and afterwards they sent over some products to try out at home. I’ve been very familiar with Bumble & Bumble for years now and have always been super curious about their products, especially after seeing the stylists use them on the models during fashion week.

Although they sent a variety of different items over to try out, there are some definitely favourites that I use every time I wash or style my hair. If you’re interested in what they are, keep reading…

BB Prep Primer

BB Prep Primer

One of my favourite styling sprays is definitely the BB Prep Primer (C$28), which is a detangles and styling primer that you spray on damp or dry hair.

This spray is chock full of herbs and vitamins and it quickly refreshes hair without adding weight to it.  Just spray it all over your hair and comb through to detangle your hair, or spray it on styled hair to reactivate products that are already in there.

This product also helps to protect your hair against free-radicals, makes it stronger, stimulates your scalp, conditions hair, tames flyaways, and so much more. It’s seriously one of the best sprays you can use pre-styling or even for a little touch up.

BB Does it All Light-Hold Hairspray

BB Does it All Light-Hold Hairspray

You know when you style your hair, it looks amazing, and then falls flat a few hours later? With a few sprays of the BB Does It All Light-Hold Hairspray (C$36), you don’t get that problem.

This hairspray locks in style without weighing it down.  Ideal for all types of hair types, just spray it on your hair for locks that are touchable and brushable. Seriously, it doesn’t even feel like you used any hairspray at all.

This hairspray gives you a light hold, meaning that you’ll still have hair that is moveable. I love spraying it on freshly-curled hair since it keeps my curl looking fresh and locks in the style.

I have one of their other hairsprays, the BB Spray de Mode, which is also a great choice, but I do find myself reaching for this one more since I love how it makes my hair look and feel. It might be a light hold, but you won’t get any product build up in the hair and it locks in style for days.

Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray

Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray

Finally, the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray (C$38) was a big hit at NYFW, with the stylists using this product often on the models’ hair.

The spray is a finishing mist that gives styled hair a soft, tousled texture with a light hold.  Ideal for straight, wavy, curly, and oily hair, it delivers soft texture and volume to hair that lasts for hours.

The formula includes their Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil (six-oil blend) that conditions, softens, and adds shine to the hair.  It also includes UV filters to protect your hair against the drying effects of the sun, as well as silk powders to help provide a soft texture.

I love spraying this on as the final step and then lifting the hair at the root to get some underneath for volume.

I have a few more Bumble & Bumble products that I have been loving, but these are the ones that I have been using religiously when I wash and style my hair.
