If there is one thing that you would find in every single bag I own, as well as every room of my condo, it’s a lip balm of some sort.
You never really can never have enough of these since the second you don’t have one handy, that’s when dry lips will hit you. So since dry lips are the worst feeling, I make sure to have a balm or two kicking around everywhere.
Since my love for lip balm runs deep, imagine my surprise when I received two new ones from Indeed Labs. I’ve been using their products for years now and love how they are natural versions to some of the most beloved skincare items. They have natural version of everything from retinol to even blue light protection.
Anyways, earlier this month I got in a little Valentine’s Day themed package with their newest product, the Hydraluron+ Tinted Lip Treatment (C$14.99), which now comes in two colours, red and pink. This product is a sister to their award-winning Hydraluron+ Volumising Lip Treatment, same formula but this time in colour!
These balms feature the same formula as the original lip treatment, including anti-aging and hydrating ingredients, as well as actives that help to soothe, treat, hydrate, brighten, and plump up lips. One of the star ingredients is Volulip, which is an active that contains a plant extract and a natural modified matrikine-memetic peptide to plump up lips by hyaluronic acid synthesis. What it essentially does is mimic a hyaluronic acid injection (aka lip fillers) by doubling its synthesis level, as well as stimulating the synthesis of matrix and dermal epidermal junction molecules. As a result, you’re left with fuller-looking, more hydrated lips.
The product is really lightweight and feels silky on the lips. As soon as you apply it, it goes to work to hydrate and enlarge lips, thanks to the pomegranate sterols, coffee, tea, and tropical food extract. As soon as you apply this, you can feel it working and it is a really pleasant wear. There is some slight tingling at first but that goes away quickly.
As for colours, I was naturally drawn to the pink shade first, and considering that I don’t wear a ton of makeup nowadays (thanks COVID), I didn’t find the colour to be too vibrant against my bare skin.
The treatments come housed in a squeeze tube, allowing for mess-free application. As with all of Indeed Lab’s products, they are SLS and SLES free, phthalate free, silicone free, fragrance free, mineral oil free, vegan and cruelty free.
I really like these as an alternative to lipsticks right now since we have to wear masks anyways anytime we go somewhere, so at least I can still get some sort of colour without it getting everywhere.
Have you tried Indeed Lab’s newest lip treatment?

Has anyone else’s hair gotten more healthier during COVID?
When it comes to washing and styling my locks, truthfully I only really do it when I need to. I wash my hair once or twice a week and style it as needed. Since I do everything at home and there are literally no events to go to, unless I need to style my hair, I’ll just let it air dry and be done with it.
As a result, I can definitely feel that my hair has been getting stronger and healthier. That’s coupled with the fact that I’ve been using a lot of Vital Proteins products and the Tula gummies, so let’s just say that I don’t think I have ever seen my hair this great.
When it comes to shampoo and conditioner, I mostly use ones that are geared towards blonde hair. After I dyed my hair last month with the Clairol Natural Instincts product, my blonde has been muted down a little and truthfully, I am really embracing the colour I’m rocking right now (although I do have a salon appointment at the end of March). Because of that, I’ve been experimenting with some new shampoos and conditioners and have really been loving the results.
So, if you are in the market to try out something new for your hair, then I think you’ll love these three haircare lines…
L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner
Okay, so let’s start with the most affordable option, the L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner (C$8.99 and C$6.49 respectively).
This line is aimed to target the five signs of damage (daily brushing or styling, which can cause fine, fragile, dull or rough hair with split ends). Used together, these products will help to strengthen, provide more density and vitality to the hair, increase shine and silkiness.
The star ingredient in these products is the Keratin(e)XS, which restores protection to the hair’s surface, leaving it soft and giving it a healthy-looking shine.
If you need a little extra TLC, pick up the Restoring Mask (C$9.49), which is great for damaged and weakened hair. This mask instantly detangles damaged hair without weighing it down. It is enriched with Cicamide and Pro-Keratin to replenish hair, as well as microfillers to seal split ends.
I have the shampoo and conditioner and find that my hair feels really soft and nourished after I use it. At this price point, it makes it easy to pick up for just about anyone.
Before I got into this whole blogging thing, I used to buy Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash mascara religiously. It was my first “expensive” mascara and I would usually use my Shoppers Optimum points to purchase it.
It’s been a while since I’ve purchased that mascara, but like a lot of mascaras I’ve used over the years, that particular one has always held a special place in my heart. Since I love Bad Gal Lash so much, whenever Benefit would release a new mascara I would always be interested in it to see how it stood up, and to be honest, a lot of their mascaras that they have released over the years have been amazing.
A few years back they introduced They’re Real! and that has been another one of the brand’s mascaras that I have always enjoyed. Although it wouldn’t stack up in my top five all-time faves, I’ve always really enjoyed it and thought that it made my lashes look long and noticeable.
About a week back, Benefit started promoting a brand-new top-secret product, which meant that I was naturally curious. Was it a new brow product? A new blush?
Spoiler alert, it’s a new mascara.
Introducing the They’re Real! Magnet Extreme Lengthening Mascara (C$36), which is a mascara that is supposed to give you 36-hour volume. The innovative part about this mascara is the brush, which they call an extender brush with a magnetically charged core that pulls the magnetic mineral-enriched formula up and out to deliver lashes that look 40 per cent longer.
The formula is lightweight and buildable and won’t smudge or flake. It comes in one colour, Supercharged Black, and is also water-resistant. The brush itself doesn’t look any different than any other one (especially since the brush is the star of the show here) but it does feature custom-designed zigzag bristles that are strategically positioned to fan out lashes and separate and define them.
I was really excited to give this a try and loved the colour as it is a very deep black (definitely makes the lashes stand out). Truthfully, I wouldn’t say this is any better than any of other mascara I’ve tried by them or even better than the original They’re Real! I would say that my lashes looked longer, but I do wish they were more lifted. Also, I did find that with too many coats it did look a bit clumpy, so I would limit it to no more than two.
Benefit also offers this mascara as a travel size, which is awesome to keep in your bag or for travel (whenever that happens again). I’ll keep trying this guy out, but first impressions are that it didn’t really impress me as much as some of their other ones did (looking back, Rollerlash gave me more defined lashes). I love the innovative formula though and give them props for coming out with a really unique product.
Are you planning on trying out Benefit’s new They’re Real! Magnet mascara.
