Okay, so when it comes to your skincare routine, you should have a cleanser, toner, eye cream, serum, and moisturizer. I throw in a few more goodies, but this should be the base of items you use every day and night.
I’ve been using eye cream for years now and it’s one of the most important items in my regimen. I don’t usually swap out my eye cream on a regular basis. I like to stick with one until I use it up. With that being said, I do have an eye cream for morning and one for night, but truthfully, you only really need one.
If you are looking for a new eye cream to try out then I do have a few suggestions since I recently got in a few new ones to try out from brands I have been using for years now.
Tula 24-7 Power Swipe Hydrating Day & Night Treatment Eye Balm
My morning eye cream? Tula’s Rose Glow & Get It Eye Balm. I’ve been using this one for a couple years now and have also used the original Glow & Get It Eye Balm. I love how compact these are and how you can just swipe them on directly from the container.
At the end of last month, the probiotic beauty brand released a new eye cream in their collection, the 24-7 Power Swipe Hydrating Day & Night Treatment Eye Balm ($38 USD). So what makes this different from their existing eye balms? Well, if you love their bestselling Day & Night Cream, then you’ll love this since it’s a combination of the Glow & Get It Eye Balm and the Day & Night Cream.
This eye balm helps to firm and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, it reduces any puffiness, hydrates and nourishes, and protects from blue light. This balm contains peptides and collagen (for fine lines & wrinkles), hyaluronic acid and squalane (to hydrate and nourish), caffeine, apple and watermelon (for puffiness), and Tula’s Complex of probiotic and prebiotic extracts for smoothness.
If you love Tula’s existing eye balms already then I would recommend you pick this one up next. I know once I’m done my fave Rose Glow & Get It I will be switching over to this one since I love the added benefits of blue light protection and wrinkle reduction.

Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Eye Serum
The bags under my eyes are Dior! Kidding, cause there are no bags since you’re using a Dior eye cream.
The Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Eye Serum (C$102) helps to diminish the signs of aging, puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles. The formula, like the name suggests, is potent and combats nine signs of visible aging to help redefine the eye contour area. The formula includes biocellular longoria technology to re-energize the skin, rye extract to stimulate skin for visible toning and firming, as well as acetylated hyaluronic acid to maintain skin hydration.
Apply this serum via the metal applicator, which fits the contours of the eye area perfectly. With regular use (I would use this one day and night, or specifically for night if you like to switch it up), your eye area will appear more smoother, firmer, and luminous.
Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Eye Cream
When it comes to luxury skincare, Lancome is always a great brand to take a look at.
The Lancome Advanced Genifique Yeux Eye Cream (C$88) is the brand’s new formula to give you all-day hydration, as well as younger-looking and brighter eyes. Perfect for all skin types, this eye cream features a gel cream texture that has a new hyaluronic acid formula to hydrate, correct, and prevent fine lines and under-eye wrinkles.
The formula contains prebiotic and probiotic fractions, as well as hyaluronic acid to enhance the skin’s moisture barrier and protect skin against daily environmental aggressors. In addition to fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet, it also helps to prevent against dehydration lines, which tend to appear when the skin is dehydrated.
This eye cream is great for all ages and really does target any and every skincare concern that the eye area faces. It is a pricy product, but with an eye cream, a little goes a long way so you will get tons of use out of this.
Regardless of which eye cream you choose to go with, just make sure you use one. These are all different price points and trust me, I’ve tried some that are way more money, as well as others which are more affordable. The eye area is one of the first areas to experience signs of aging, so it’s important to use an eye cream twice a day, and if you can, start young to prevent any signs of aging early on.
What’s your favourite eye cream?

It’s crazy to think that we have basically one more month left of summer.
Just like last year, 2021 has been flying by and since we have had some great weather this year, it feels like summer has been going on since basically March.
Lately my skin has been looking and feeling really amazing and I obviously contribute it to the weather and the skincare products I’ve been using. I’ve been getting a ton of new skincare and love learning about the ingredients and benefits in each product. From acne treatments to new cleansers there are some fabulous products to try this month.
Enough chit chat though, let’s dive right in…
Avon Isa Knox LXNEW Clean Soothing Whipped Oil Cleanser and 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleansing Balm
As part of Avon’s partnership with Korean skincare brand Isa Knox, they have recently released a line of new cleansers.
In total there are four cleansers to try out and each one is aimed for specific skin types with the idea to also be used as a double cleanser. Avon sent me two to try out and both of them sound right up my alley.
Up first is the Clean Soothing Whipped Oil Cleanser ($24.99), which is a gentle whipped formula that is ideal for oily to normal skin. It contains panthenol, which is also known as vitamin B5, as well as aloe. The ingredients eliminate impurities and excess oil without leaving any residue left over.
Since this is an oil cleanser, it should be used first if you are using the double cleanser method. The oil helps to break down any makeup or dirt on your skin. Just dispense the product from the pump and work it into a lather and then apply on the skin. Follow up with a water-based cleanser, such as your normal cleanser.
If you are looking for a balm cleanser, then take a look at their 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleansing Balm (C$42).
This cleanser melts away makeup and impurities thanks to the balm texture which melts into skin. The formula also contains panthenol (vitamin B5), as well as bamboo stem powder, which contains fine-milled, plant-based fibres which help to draw out impurities so skin looks smoother, clearer, and more radiant. It also contains antioxidants to protect skin from damage.
This cleanser is ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin. All these Clean products contain no parabens, synthetic fragrances and dyes, or mineral oil. These products were made to be used with your normal cleanser, however, you can use them solo as well.
Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream
When it comes to skincare brands that you can find at Sephora, Fresh is definitely high on my list.
Brand new is their Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream (C$59), which is actually an old product but with a new formula. This new moisturizer contains a formula powered by hyaluronic acid with 72-hour hydration and a lightweight texture.
Ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types, use this moisturizer to combat dryness, dullness, and uneven texture. It contains damask rose extract to retain moisture and support the skin’s barrier, a hyaluronic acid duo to deliver hydration, as well as a time-release technology to continuously deliver hydration to the skin’s surface over that 72-hour period.
With regular use, this moisturizer will help you obtain more hydrated skin, strengthen the skin’s barrier for 24 hours, and look more plump and dewy. You can use this day and night.
OXY Volcanic Ash Acne Scrub
Okay, so I’m not usually an acne girl but sometimes I will break out, usually on the lower half of my face (especially recently with the whole mask thing). Anyways, OXY’s Volcanic Ash Acne Scrub (C$8.49) came at the perfect time since it helped to get rid of any pesky acne spots I have had recently.
This scrub contains real volcanic ash, which is nature’s super sponge to draw out any oil or impurities in our pores. This also contains bentonite clay and activated charcoal so pores get a deep cleaning, as well as two per cent salicylic acid to treat acne and prevent future breakouts.
This is a really treat for skin and once it’s rinsed off, your face will feel clean and ready for the rest of your skincare routine. Since it’s a scrub, it contains exfoliating biodegradable micro beads to remove dead skin cells gently and efficiently.
I have been loving these products over the past few weeks and they have definitely found a place in my collection since they are such staple items. I have a few more skincare items coming up soon, but if you are looking for some new items in these categories, these are definitely some must haves to try out.
What has been your favourite skincare items this summer?

When it comes to luxury beauty products, Dior Beauty is definitely high on the list.
I’ve been using the luxury brand’s makeup and skincare products for years now and love the attention to detail and glamorous features of the items. I always get really excited when they release new products and recently the brand sent over a shopping bag of goodies featuring some new products for summer 2021.
Every year they come out with a few limited-edition products, including new combinations in their 5 Couleurs palettes. For summer 2021 they have released the Summer Dune collection, which is two different palettes set in earth tone neutrals.
These palettes (C$76), which feature five eyeshadows, are modelled after the warm and golden shimmer of the sun and range from golds to bronzes to champagnes. The texture of the shadows is shaped like sand, which makes for an eye-catching palette once opened. There are two palettes available, Mirage (gold and copper shades) and Dune (bronze and gold shades).
Now since I’m a neutral girl, these spoke to me right away. I love the shade range and the really cool detail that went into these palettes. I will say though that I don’t particularly find Dior’s eyeshadows to be that pigmented, so these are on the lighter side when you apply them, which is a little disappointing considering the price point. Then again, it is Dior so you really are paying for the brand and the craftsmanship that goes into these palettes. If you love Dior makeup and into neutral colours, then I highly recommend you pick up one of these palettes. These are such wearable colours and I do have to say that it is my favourite colour combo they have released yet in their eyeshadow line.
Make sure you pair your eye look with a good statement brow. Try out their Diorshow Kabuki Brow Styler (C$40). This retractable brow pencil, available in six shades, is perfect for shaping the brows and adding dimension.
One side features the brand’s first brow pencil with a triangular tip and the other end has a kabuki brush to brush everything in place.
Now I am pretty picky with my brow products. Some are really nice and creamy and others are too dry. This one is actually pretty good and the product just glides on the skin to create a statement brow. Dior promises a 12-hour wear and best of all, the formula is waterproof, making it perfect for the summer months when you are at the pool or beach (or just sweating it out in the heat).
Although the tip is triangular, it is still angled and it creates an accurate application that looks natural. The formula also contains wax so it is set in place and won’t budge or move. As for the brush, it is comb-like brush (similar to the ones that Fenty Beauty uses), which makes it easy to comb through your brows, allowing for a more natural and blended brow look.
Now that your brows are all set for the pool, you need to keep your lashes in check too. Thankfully, they have a waterproof formula of their Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara (C$37). This cult-classic mascara lifts lashes to make them fuller looking and larger. It features a curved brush that defines and coats lashes, ensuring that every lash gets the Dior treatment.
This waterproof formula is perfect for summer and will ensure that there is no smudging for 24 hours. The formula is infused with cotton nectar so lashes appear nourished, revitalized, stronger, and softer.
i have their original Iconic Overcurl as well and enjoy how it makes my lashes look. I have been on the hunt for a waterproof mascara so this came just in time since I’ve been spending most of my time outdoors near the pool. With this mascara, I get the same Iconic Overcurl effect, without any smudging or budging.
For a more noticeable lash look, pair it with their Diorshow Maximizer 3D (C$37), which is a mascara primer serum that helps to boost mascara’s performance, and with regular use, improve your lashes appearance.
Apply this before your mascara and the formula will help with volume, curl, and length instantly for up to 24 hours. It will also help with making your lashes stronger, smoother, and more supple. If you are a regular eye makeup user, I highly recommend picking this product up and using it underneath your mascara.
Finally, to give you your best skin yet, sweep on some of the Dior Backstage Face & Body Powder-No-Powder (C$50), which is part of their professional makeup line. Available in 10 shades, this powder helps to create an even and matte complexion that still looks healthy and luminous. It will help to set makeup for all-day wear and won’t leave a powdery finish. Skin looks smooth with no visible imperfections or shine. It also helps with blurring any pores for a more even complexion.
You can use this powder alone or on top of makeup to set it. I love throwing this powder in my bag for touchups on the go, as well as for setting my makeup (plus the compact is so cute too). This powder is also great for men since it doesn’t really leave any colour to the face, so if you suffer from oily skin or need something to smooth our your complexion, this should right up your alley.
Overall I really love this collection and love the shade range and how wonderful everything looks when applied. My favourite items are the brow products and the Dior Backstage powder since it’s an item that you can wear everyday, but everything is so perfect for the summer season right now and already after two weeks of having these products, everything has gotten a ton of wear.
Have you picked up any of Dior’s summer beauty products?
