Skincare refresh: The Tula products you need to incorporate into your skincare routine

A new year, new you, right?

Okay, so usually when a new year starts that means tons of new year resolutions, which may include a diet plan, exercise, perhaps even waking up earlier, reading more books, etc. I know what it’s like; you start strong and then by the middle of January, everything just starts to slip.

Now a new year’s resolution that I highly encourage you implement is taking good care of your skin, especially if you are still young.  Yes, I’ll be honest, I get Botox and fillers and all that, but truthfully, I’ve been taking good care of my skin since I was 16 so I just get those little extras to maintain and slightly enhance.  Having a routine really does make all the difference, and as much as I talk about high-end products on here, you really don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to have amazing skin.

Tula products for January 2021

One of my favourite skincare brands is Tula. I’ve talked about them a lot over the years and they are a brand that is very near and dear to my heart since their products are amazing and are backed by probiotics.  Tula is so great that I’ve basically gotten all my friends hooked on it and even they have seen some amazing results.

Now if you are Canadian like me, unfortunately the brand still doesn’t ship here (they used to but pulled out of Canada a few years ago).  If you are an American reader though, then I feel like you’ll enjoy this post if you haven’t tried the brand before (and even if you are Canadian, when the border reopens and you plan your American vacay, definitely add them on your list of things to buy down south).

Anyways, if you are on the hunt for some new skincare and want to try Tula out, then here are some of my top recommendations.

Tula skincare holiday set

If you are brand new to the line, then you are in luck!  Their holiday gift sets are still available online, including the Brightening and Hydrating Skin Essentials set ($98 USD, valued at $156). This set includes two cult classics, as well as two of their newer products.

Housed in a stunning limited-edition holographic bag, this set includes products to recharge, balance, and hydrate skin.  Open the bag to reveal four full-size products which allow you to discover the brand and some of its most popular items.

Included is the Purifying Face Cleanser (I’ve gone through so many bottles on this stuff and highly recommend it), the Signature Glow Refreshing & Brightening Face Mist, the Glow Hour Brightening & Neutralizing Eye Balm, and the 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream.

The Purifying Cleanser (C$35) is a refreshing probiotic cleanser that cleans your skin deep into the pores to remove impurities and condition skin.  It’s perfect for all skin types and I love using it with my FOREO Luna or Clarisonic for an even deeper clean.

The star ingredients in this cleanser are lactic acid to naturally clean and exfoliate the skin; chicory root, which is a natural anti-inflammatory prebiotic to help boost the appearance of firmer skin; turmeric root, which helps reduce the signs of inflammation; blueberries, which help protect skin from free-radical attacks; and probiotics to hydrate and lock in moisture.

The 24/7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream (C$65) gives dull skin deep hydrating.  This cream nourishes skin and contains probiotics and superfoods like rice nutripeptides and watermelon fruit extract to give your skin an even, glowing, and youthful-looking complexion. The thing I really love about this moisturizer is the fact that it glides on skin, feels comfortable, and a little goes a long way.

The Glow Hour Eye Balm ($32 USD) is designed to neutralize dark circles.  This balm is smaller in circumference than their other two as it’s designed to fit into the small corners of the inner eye.  It contains ingredients such as grapefruit and algae to brighten, as well as lingonberry to protect against pollution and blue light (love this!!). It also has aloe water and watermelon to hydrate and reduce the look of wrinkles. In addition to all that, it also cools, hydrates, and illuminates the eye area. Just swipe it on for a golden peachy glow and an instant pick me up.

The Tula Signature Glow Refreshing & Hydrating Acid Face Mist ($34 USD) is designed to instantly brighten the appearance of dull skin, as well as hydrate and protect it from blue light and pollution.

Spray this onto your skin before or after makeup or just whenever you need a pick me up to give your skin a punch of hyaluronic acid.  It also contains probiotics, strawberry, and kiwi fruit water to balance skin and give you a beautiful glow. It also has a really nice scent to it which is an instant pick me up.

Tula 24-7 Moisture Cream large, So Pumpkin Exfoliating Sugar Scrub and Brightening Treatment Drops

If you are a fan of the 24/7 Hydrating Day & Night Cream already then you’ll be excited to know that they recently released an XL version of the bestselling moisturizer.

The Hydrating Day and Night Cream Supersized retails for $98 USD but has a value of $104. This giant version comes in a 3.4 oz. bottle, compared to the 1.5 oz. regular version (which retails for $65 USD, so the larger version is a way better deal).  If you are someone that religiously buys this product, then I recommend you look into this version instead since you get two times the product for way less money,

This moisturizer is lightweight and non-greasy and hydrates skin, as well as revives the appearance of dull and tired skin.  Use it day and night for a more glowing and hydrated look. Also, over time it will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce dark circles and puffiness around the eyes.

This cream actually came in handy for me when I got to Montreal in November as I found that my skin was feeling and looking very dry and sore and this helped to nourish it back to health.

Pair the moisturizer with the Shawn Johnson East So Pumpkin Facial Scrub Exfoliant ($34 USD), which works the same way of their OG scrub, but with a pumpkin spice twist.

Apply this before or after your cleanser (I like doing it before) and gently massage in a circular motion, then rinse.  The scrub contains gentle, natural sugar to melt away excess oil, buildup, and debris, without leaving your skin feeling irritated or dry.  It contains probiotics and pumpkin to soften skin, as well as fruit enzymes to unclog pores.

I love using this scrub because it’s made with sugar, meaning that it melts as soon as it hits water.  I find with other scrubs which are made with exfoliants, I always have little beads kicking around after the fact. I prefer this one since they melt away and leave my skin feeling so soft and smooth.

Tula Brightening serum

Lastly, for the ultimate glow, try out their new Triple Vitamin C Serum Brightening Treatment Drops ($48 USD), which is a new product and one of three new treatment drops released at the end of last year.

This serum features a potent brightening treatment with 10 per cent Triple Vitamin C Complex, as well as two types of Vitamin C to treat dull skin and reduce the look of dark spots.  There is also a third Vitamin C in here to reactivate the others throughout the day to defend against elements that cause dullness.  It also contains the probiotics that the brand is known for, as well as lychee and mango extracts to even out skin tone and restore skin’s overall radiance. Over time you’ll notice that your skin looks less dull and dark spots and blemishes look more faded.

Tula Eye Feel Amazing eye pads

Another new product that was special for the holidays but still available are the Eye Feel Amazing Cooling & Brightening Hydrogel Eye Mask ($22 USD).  These masks work to reinvigorate tired eyes thanks to the cooling hydrogel technology that you apply right to your undereyes.

These patches contain probiotics and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and smooth out skin.  It also has niacinamide and blueberry to brighten the appearance of dull skin, fine lines, and dark circles, as well as quinoa seed and green coffee caffeine to help reduce the look of puffiness.

Each box contains four packs of these masks, so save them for special occasions or when you feel your eyes need a little pick me up.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you can slack off with the sunscreen right now.

I’ve been using the Tula Protect + Glow – Daily Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen (US$36) since last summer and it’s quickly become my favourite facial sunscreen. This product is a broad spectrum sunscreen that gives you SPF 30 protection, while also giving you blue light protection and coverage against damaging pollution.

Tula Protect + Glow sunscreen and Face Filter printer

The formula is non-comedogenic and won’t clog pores or leave a white cast on skin. Like all of Tula’s ingredients, the sunscreen is powered by probiotics, as well as pineapple and papaya, which will help promote even skin tone. It also includes wild butterfly ginger root, which helps to protect it against blue light.

I apply this to my face as my last step in the morning. The sunscreen is yellow and blends out really nicely on the skin (it doesn’t make your skin yellow either… in fact it’s quite refreshing to apply). It also doesn’t have that chemically sunscreen scent (which is a huge plus) and leaves you with a really pretty glow.  It also feels smoother and silkier than other sunscreens I have used. This melts softly into your skin and you aren’t left with that heavy sunscreen feeling.  I obviously love tons of Tula products, but this one is an absolute must for me.

Finally, if the supersized 24/7 Moisturizer peaked your interest, then you’ll be excited to know that they also came out with a supersized version of their Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer.  This supersized version comes in a 60 ml bottle ($54 USD), which is double the size of the original ($34 USD).

The Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer helps to smooth the appearance of uneven skin tone, neutralizes the look of redness, locks in hydration, and creates a base for your makeup. The formula, perfect for pretty much any skin tone, includes the usual Tula  ingredients which make their products so amazing, including probiotics, prebiotics, turmeric, chia seeds, and more to not only help your skin look its best, but also feel its best too!

The great thing about this primer is that you can wear it so many ways. You can obviously wear it under makeup or it can be worn by itself since it dispenses white, but then once blended, it releases glow particles that create a warm-toned base to blur out any imperfections and give you a sun-kissed glow.

There are so many other wonderful Tula products that I recommend you try out as well, but with a line that keeps growing, I know it’s hard to figure out which items to try first.  Any of these would be wonderful additions to your collection and if you are curious about any other product, feel free to search for “Tula” in my search bar since I’ve reviewed probably about 95% of the line already.

If you plan on making an order, use code SHAYNA for 20% off orders on Tula.com.
