Crimson glow: Three holiday picks from BITE Beauty

Bite Beauty holiday 2021 items We all love a good holiday lip.

I’m not usually a red lipstick girl, but when it comes to the holiday season, I do like to partake in a berry or bright red lip to celebrate the season.

When it comes to lipsticks, one of the brands that is most known for their lip products is BITE Beauty. I’ve tried a lot of their lipstick formulas and from the clean formula to the fact that you can literally eat the product (there’s no chemicals and they are made from natural ingredients) to the shade range, there’s really nothing negative that I can think of when it comes to their lipsticks (if you every get the chance to, I recommend doing your own custom lipstick at their Lip Lab, which is now available virtually as well!).

Anyways, if you are looking for some great stocking stuffers or the perfect festive lip, then BITE Beauty has you covered.

Bite Beauty Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon in Negroni

Starting first with their lipsticks, the Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon (C$34, but many are currently on sale at Sephora for $17 right now!) is a matte lip pencil that gives you a comfortable wear in a creamy matte finish.

The formula of these lipsticks, available in 20 shades, contains pomegranate oil and wild African mango, and orange wax peel. Although it’s a matte finish, they are very creamy and stay on the lips for hours on end. The pencil application makes it easy to apply with no lip liner needed (it’s pretty much a giant lip liner as it is).

Now although they are available in a wide variety of shades from pinks to reds to nudes and everything in between, I got the colour Negroni, which is a gorgeous poppy red shade (the brand calls it “electric coral”).  The pigment on these are incredible and this shade in particular is sure to be a showstopper at any holiday gathering or event you attend.

Bite Beauty Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss in Cinnamon Twist

Now it want to up the ante on that red lip, take a look at their Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss (C$33, currently on sale for C$16.50), which is a gloss that gives you hydrated, shiny, and plumped lips.

The Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss comes in eight shades and is a cinnamon-flavoured lip gloss that gives you more plump and glossy lips. These glosses contain cinnamon oil that helps to plump lips with a subtle tingle, as well as sodium hyaluronate to keep them feeling and looking healthy and nourished.

BITE Beauty sent me the shade Cinnamon Twist, which is a copper gloss with some shimmer thrown in.  The applicator on these wasn’t what I expected since it has an angled tip where you dispense the product out of. With that being said, it does make for a nice application and I found the glosses to be quite comfortable on the lips.  This shade does add a bit of colour to your lips, so it’s perfect to wear overtop of a lipstick or on its own!

BITE Beauty Feast Your Eyes holiday set

Now to complete your perfect holiday look, throw on a bold winger liner and some big lashes, which is easy to do with their Feast Your Eyes set ($20 USD, on sale for $10). This set includes minis of their Upswing Full-Volume Mascara and the Upswing Full Extreme Longwear Eyeliner.

The Upswing Full-Volume Mascara is a clean mascara that features tree berry wax that is an alternative to beeswax that will give you buildable lashes with lightweight volume.  The Upswing Full Extreme Longwear Eyeliner is a felt-tip liner that glides on smoothly and precisely for a bold liner look. It contains passionflower extract to nourish so the liner doesn’t dry out or flake. The colour is also jet black and is long wearing, flake-free and smudge-resistant.

This is such a great set to pick up if you’ve been wanting to try out BITE’s mascara and eyeliner. I’ve tried the mascara but not the eyeliner yet, and since it’s a mini size, it’s perfect for travel or tossing in my bag for touchups.  Plus, it’s currently on sale, so nab it while you have the chance.

Freshly fallen snow: Bath & Body Works releases Pure Wonder scent

BATH & BODY WORKS PURE WONDER COLLECTION

We love a new Bath & Body Works (BBW) scent.

I love to browse BBW whenever I’m at the mall to see and smell some old favourites, as well as to see what’s new in store.  Recently I got a box in the mail from the famed soaps and fragrance brand with their newest release for the holidays, Pure Wonder.

Pure Wonder is the most perfect holiday release since it encaptures the feeling of freshly fallen snow, glistening icicles, and staying cozy on a cold winter night.  It’s comfortable but appealing. Beautiful to look at and something that you just want to wrap yourself in.

This scent contains notes of iced rose for its fun, fruity, and sparkling notes; as well as star jasmine for a burst of floral and warm white amber to round out its coziness.

Now if this sounds like a scent you can get behind, you’re in luck since BBW has Pure Wonder in basically all your favourite items.  From body wash to hand wash, hand sanitizer, candles, fragrance, car fragrance… the list goes on and on, you can seriously surround yourself in this smell this season.

BBW sent me a variety of products in this new scent, including the body wash, the exfoliating glow body scrub, the body cream, fine fragrance mist, and mini perfume spray.  Collectively, I love all these work together and it was a nice way to fully experience the fragrance.

Obviously BBW has tons of holiday scents in store this season, including many favourites that they have every year, but I do recommend going in and giving this a whiff.  I also want to note that the gorgeous rose gold packaging is beautiful and looks stunning displayed in the shower, counter, etc.

Have you smelled Pure Wonder yet?

Silky smooth: Mary Kay Cosmetics releases Silky Smooth Setting Powder

An underrated makeup product in my collection? Setting powders!

Now if you use any liquid face products, then you definitely need a setting powder to go with it.  Setting powders help to set your liquid complexion items, as well as help brighten the face and blur out any imperfections. You want an airbrushed look? Then you need a setting powder.

Now when it comes to the powder themselves, I’m actually not that picky in terms of the consistency of the item. You can either reach for a pressed powder or a loose powder, which allows you to have a little more control in where you are placing the product (but it’s a little more messy, not gonna lie).

Mary Kay Canada Silky Smooth Setting Powder

Mary Kay recently released a new loose setting powder, the Silky Smooth Setting Powder (C$24 each), which is available in 12 different shades that range from light to dark.

This setting powder is made of a silky smooth matte texture that will help to extend the life of your makeup, while blurring out any imperfections.  It also helps to smooth your skin and minimize shine.

The powder itself doesn’t contain any parabens or silicones and is also free from mineral oil, fragrance, and wax.  It has a plant-based emollient to helps with the soft and weightless feel.

Mary Kay sent me three shades to try out and I have to say that the setting powder does glide on smoothly and feels weightless on the skin. You can of course also just use it on its own if you want a more matte natural look to go about your day.

The brand also sent over their All-Over Powder Brush (C$20) as well to use for application of the powder. This brush features synthetic bristles and is super soft and smooth, making it perfect to apply the powder. It’s also not too large and it features a curved dome shape that allows you to precisely apply the product where you want it.

Overall, I really like the two products paired together and think this is a really good setting powder. I love the fact that you can’t even feel it when you’re wearing it and the shade range is also quite extensive, so you should be able to find a shade that suits your skin tone.

Have you tried Mary Kay’s new setting powder?
