Silky smooth: Mary Kay Cosmetics releases Silky Smooth Setting Powder

An underrated makeup product in my collection? Setting powders!

Now if you use any liquid face products, then you definitely need a setting powder to go with it.  Setting powders help to set your liquid complexion items, as well as help brighten the face and blur out any imperfections. You want an airbrushed look? Then you need a setting powder.

Now when it comes to the powder themselves, I’m actually not that picky in terms of the consistency of the item. You can either reach for a pressed powder or a loose powder, which allows you to have a little more control in where you are placing the product (but it’s a little more messy, not gonna lie).

Mary Kay Canada Silky Smooth Setting Powder

Mary Kay recently released a new loose setting powder, the Silky Smooth Setting Powder (C$24 each), which is available in 12 different shades that range from light to dark.

This setting powder is made of a silky smooth matte texture that will help to extend the life of your makeup, while blurring out any imperfections.  It also helps to smooth your skin and minimize shine.

The powder itself doesn’t contain any parabens or silicones and is also free from mineral oil, fragrance, and wax.  It has a plant-based emollient to helps with the soft and weightless feel.

Mary Kay sent me three shades to try out and I have to say that the setting powder does glide on smoothly and feels weightless on the skin. You can of course also just use it on its own if you want a more matte natural look to go about your day.

The brand also sent over their All-Over Powder Brush (C$20) as well to use for application of the powder. This brush features synthetic bristles and is super soft and smooth, making it perfect to apply the powder. It’s also not too large and it features a curved dome shape that allows you to precisely apply the product where you want it.

Overall, I really like the two products paired together and think this is a really good setting powder. I love the fact that you can’t even feel it when you’re wearing it and the shade range is also quite extensive, so you should be able to find a shade that suits your skin tone.

Have you tried Mary Kay’s new setting powder?
