If you are a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know that I love magnetic lashes.
I’ve been using these for years and just love how much more gentle they are than lash glue. Over the years the technology has definitely changed and instead of just the one way of wearing them (that is two lashes sandwiched together between your natural lashes), there is now eyeliner that works with these lashes to hold them magnetically together.
I’ve used a few lashes via this method and although it does work well for the most part, sometimes the lash band it too long. With traditional magnetic lashes, there are little magnetics placed on the band, so that makes it difficult to adjust or cut the lash to fit your eye shape.
Well not anymore.
If you struggle with this then you’ll be thrilled to hear that Ardell has launched a new magnetic lash innovation, which comes out next month. The Magnetic MegaHold lashes (C$20.99) is a kit that comes with the lash and glue/liner and the special part about these is that it features an invisible “no magnets” magnetic technology in the lash band itself. So what that means is that these lashes don’t have those little magnets and instead the lash band itself is the magnet. It also means you can trim the lash band without the scare of losing the magnets themselves.
These launch in March 2022 and four signature styles will be introduced here in Canada. As mentioned, these come as a set with both the lashes and liquid liner. Just apply a couple coats of the liquid liner and then place the lash on the liner while it’s still wet to hold it all together. These are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As mentioned, there are four sets to choose from and two of them feature faux mink lashes for a more natural and flirty effect.
I love the idea of these and definitely feel like they are going to be my go-to lashes this season. I do want to add though that I did find the liner to be a little dry and I had to keep putting the brush back into the tube to get more product. Also, after a few hours the lashes did lift, which was annoying, but I’ll keep using them, especially other styles to see if they hold up better. I also didn’t trim them when I used them and I think for next time I’m going to trim them so they fit better (I’m thinking of trimming off half to give me that cat eye effect).
I have really been loving what Ardell has been doing lately in terms of new lash innovations and if you’re wondering what the difference is between these and normal lashes, I find the magnetic glue liner to be more gentle on the eyes than traditional glue.
Will you be picking up Ardell’s MegaHold lashes when they launch next month?

One of my favourite holidays is on the horizon.
There is something about Valentine’s Day that is just so special. Even if you don’t have a partner that you call a Valentine, there are so many others you can celebrate with (dog, cat, besties, etc.), and it’s such a cute holiday that really, what’s not to love about it (no pun intended!).
Anyways, I recently got in some goodies from a PR company which I thought would make such great gifts for those special girls in your life. I feel like all of these are must-need products and whether you’re spending the holiday going out or staying in, all of these will definitely help set the mood for the big day.
Plump Lips by Modele
Valentine’s Day is known as the holiday of love, so a lip product is always a good idea to pick up or gift!
The Plump Lips by Modele (C$29.99) is a collagen lip treatment that is clinically shown to visibly restore lip volume by up to 40 per cent. Apply it three times daily for the first 30 days or until desired lip plumpness is achieved. It also helps to reduce wrinkles and the appearance of fine lines by up to 30 per cent and improves hydration up to 60 per cent.
Now this is definitely a big claim for a beauty product and do I think it will rival the effect of lip fillers? No. But I do think that it’s a cool lip balm to have on hand and I will say that I feel like my lips look bigger when I apply it. It’s a comfortable wear and you can either wear it on its own or under your lipstick.
Smooth by So…?
Speaking of lips, I got in the cutest perfume bottle recently, which is in the shape of lips!
Available in three different scents, Smooth by So…? (C$14.99) is a series of eau de parfums that just scream Valetine’s Day. Each come in a gorgeous metallic lips bottle, either in purple (Vixen), red (Cupid), or nude (Nude)!
I got Cupid, which contains top notes of earth blackcurrant and pear with floral fresh notes of rose, violet and peony. It is also infused with sweet vanilla, benzoin, tonka beans, and musk. This has a sweet vanilla candy scent to it and if you like more sweeter perfumes then you will love this one!
I Love body wash
Speaking of smelling good, I Love is a great brand to try out for body washes (C$9.99) and body mists. This UK brand offers up seasonal scents which are paraben free and vegan.
I got the scent English Rose which smells just like a rose garden. It also has a fruity fresh scent of pear and red berries, as well as jasmine and amber, leaving you smelling amazing for your valentine!
Invisibobble
Okay everyone needs some hair ties and Invisibobble makes the best ones.
You’ve probably seen these before but Invisibobble hair ties look like a phone cord and they are designed so they hold hair without any breakage or headaches. I basically only use these now in my hair and they do a great job of holding it in place, especially during workouts. They also are great to reduce the kink you often get in your hair from more traditional hair ties.
Invisibobble comes in a bunch of different sizes, colours, and patterns. They are a little pricey at $10 for three ties (for the original ones), but I’ve had mine for years, so they are worth the price (plus they make such great gifts!).
7th Heaven Face Masques
Finally, for the ultimate Valentine’s Day glow or a night in with your galentine’s, grab one of the 7th Heaven Face Masques, which is made from pure and natural ingredients.
These masks contain natural plant ingredients and are paraben-free and PETA approved. I got the Chocolate Mud mask, which is a revitalizing and deep-cleansing hard-drying mask. Apply it on the skin, relax for about half an hour and then rinse off to reveal glowing skin!
The best part about all these products is that they are available in drugstores so you aren’t breaking the bank on picking them up. I think all of them make great gift ideas for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, whatever day you are celebrating this month!

My skin has been acting up lately.
I have been finding that the lower half of my face has just felt irritated and dry, so much so that I’m constantly spraying with a hydrating mist. It might be the weather or it might be the whole mask thing. Whatever it is, I don’t love it.
Last week I got Fresh’s first-ever mask for sensitive skin, which as you can see, came just in time since my face needed some major TLC. The Fresh Floral Recovery Calming Mask (C$89) is an overnight face mask that is proven to calm signs of sensitivity, such as redness, uneven skin tone, and rough texture, leaving you with an even-toned complexion.
The mask contains a formula powered by floral extracts, including passionflower, cornflower, cherry blossom, and peony, and works to calm and reduce redness for those with sensitive skin. It also contains vitamin C and squalene to brighten and smooth skin.
Now although it is a mask, you can replace this with your night moisturizer for an everyday (or rather, night) treatment. Put it on before bed and wake up with more even-toned, brighter skin. It also helps to combat redness, dryness, and irritation.
Now as soon as I got this, I basically ripped open the jar and slathered a layer of it on a dry patch on my skin. Fresh says that you can do spot treatments for immediate relief, leaving it on for five to 10 minutes before wiping off. Truthfully, I just left it on because trust me, I need all the help I can get right now. When I felt the area a couple of hours later the rough patch was still there but it wasn’t as bad as when I noticed it initially. After a few days of using this I did notice a difference in my skin texture and was really happy with the results and how it made my skin look and feel.
I think I found my new go-to nighttime moisturizer!
Have you tried Fresh’s newest mask?
