In bloom: Three new products to try from Guerlain

I do have to say, lately I just haven’t been keeping up with the new makeup releases.

Don’t get me wrong, when it comes to blogging and content creation, my first love will always be the beauty world, but considering that I spend the majority of my time at home, I just don’t need a million makeup items.

Now with it being summer time, there are a few items that I can’t get enough of. A little spritz of perfume, a good lip balm, and a bronzer for those days where I do go out and need some colour on my face (cause my face is always pale due to wearing sunscreen every day). Luckily, Guerlain sent over some of their newer items to try out and all three of them fit the bill.

Guerlain is one of my favourite luxury beauty brands and I really love the appreciate all they do for the world thanks to their commitment to the planet and the bees.

If you’re looking for some new summer beauty staples, then keep reading…

Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver Eau de Toilette

Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver Eau de Toilette

I love a good scent and Guerlain makes some gorgeous ones.

New for 2022 is the brand’s Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver Eau de Toilette (C$125 for 75 ml), which is a fresh fragrance with notes of fresh citrus and fruits.

This scent is perfect for summer since it’s nice and light and has notes of basil, fig accord, and neroli. I love their Aqua Allegoria fragrance line and this is now the third one in my collection. Out of the three I own, I would say this is my favourite since I find it to be on the sweeter citrus side and think it’s so perfect for the hot weather.

I also want to add that the bottles in this perfume collection are all stunning and look so beautiful displayed. They are made entirely and exclusively in France with 15 per cent recycled glass and you can actually refill them once the fragrance runs out.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Bee Glow Tint Balm

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Bee Glow Tint Balm

I love a good lip balm, even better if it has some colour to it and it’s designer.

The Guerlain Kiss Kiss Bee Glow Tint Balm (C$50) is a tinted lip balm that is infused with honey and made of 98 per cent naturally-derived ingredients. Available in six shades, this lip balm gives lips a glowing shine, subtle colour, and all-day hydration and care.

This is my second balm from the Kiss Kiss Bee line and aside from the gorgeous packaging, it’s also super nourishing on the lips and gives you a hint of colour. I got the colour Poppy Glow and although it’s a tad darker than what I would normally wear, since the colour is so sheer, I actually didn’t mind it and it left me with a gorgeous bee-stung blush effect (see what I did there?)

At $50 I do think these are very pricey for a lip balm, but honestly as someone who always has to have a lip balm with me at all times, it is nice to splurge and pick one up that is fancier and higher-end. I don’t mind spending the money if I know that I will use up with the product, which when it comes to lip care, I don’t have to worry about that.

Guerlain Terracotta Light Healthy Glow Bronzer

Guerlain Terracotta Light Healthy Glow Bronzer

If you’re looking for a new bronzer this summer then I think you’ll love the Guerlain Terracotta Light Healthy Glow Bronzer (C$66).

This bronzer, which comes in six shades, is a blend of blush, bronzer, and highlight tones to give you a beautiful and radiant glow.

Open the compact to reveal a pressed powder which you can use to warm up your skin tone and give you a beautiful summer glow. The powder is formulated with 96 per cent naturally derived ingredients, including natural-origin Moroccan flower honey to moisturize and maintain skin’s hydration, and naturally-derived pigments and luminescent shimmer for a long-lasting soft blushing and naturally healthy glow.

The texture is soft and creamy and applies like a dream, giving you an natural, airbrushed finish. It’s an expensive bronzer at over $60, but the quality does not disappoint.

I really have been enjoying all three of these items since they are products that I do use often. Everyone needs a good summer scent and a lip balm, so I recommend checking them out next time you’re near a Guerlain counter or at Sephora!

Easy breezy: Covergirl releases Clean Fresh Skincare line

When I saw that Covergirl released a skincare line earlier this year all I could think was “about time”.

It makes total sense for a cosmetic brand to come out with a skincare line since good makeup really starts at the skin level. Covergirl used to have some products that were collaborations with Olay, but I believe they have phased those out over the years since Covergirl is now owned by Coty and Olay is still owned by P&G (they used to be both owned by P&G).

Anyways, since skincare has become so big over the past few years due to the pandemic, it makes total sense that a drugstore makeup line would come out with a line of skincare products too. Now when it comes to the product line up, it’s not as vast as I would like it, however, it does have the staples in it and there are items that you absolutely need to use at the bare minimum in your routine.

So what does the collection entail? Well keep reading…

Covergirl Hydrating Cream Cleanser

Covergirl Hydrating Cream Cleanser

Your skincare routine should start with a cleanser, so grab the Hydrating Cream Cleanser (C$8.97), which is a non-drying formula that is aimed to wash makeup and impurities, as well as dirt and oil from your face. This cleanser is formulated for all skin types and includes the brand’s TruClean Cactus Water, which is electrolyte rich, as well as meadowfoam seed oil to condition and nourish for balanced and clean skin.

Apply a small amount in your hands, lather it up on the skin and then rinse off. The formula is also vegan and non-drying and will improve skin texture for a flawless makeup application.

Covergirl Dry Skin Corrector Cream

So unfortunately Covergirl doesn’t have a toner, eye cream, or serum in their line, however, if you are looking for a moisturizer, they have three to choose from.

The Covergirl Dry Skin Corrector Cream (C$10.42) is aimed to instantly soothe and correct dry, stressed, and sensitive skin. The moisturizer is quite rich in texture, but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.

It contains hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil to soothe skin, as well as shea butter to hydrate. It also has the brand’s TruClean Cactus Water to lock in moisture as well. Apply it to your skin for hydrated skin, as well as improved texture and tone over time.

This moisturizer is great for the colder winter months, or even for skin which has been out in the sun for too long. Although I have a normal skin type, sometimes I do get dry patches or irritation and that’s where this will definitely come in handy.

Covergirl Dry Skin Corrector Cream

Covergirl Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturizer

Now if you have oily or shiny skin then you’ll like the Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturizer (C$10.99)

This moisturizer works to hydrate skin while also mattifying and controlling surface oil. It contains the brand’s TruClean Cactus Water to lock in hydration and is lightweight in texture. Apply it to the skin to get a soft matte finish without any shine.

This moisturizer is aimed for normal to oily skin.

Covergirl Weightless Water Cream

Finally, if you suffer from dry skin but looking for something more lightweight than their Dry Skin Corrector Cream, then take a look at the Weightless Water Cream (C$10.97).

This moisturizer contains the electrolyte-rich TruClean Cactus Water, as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate and lock in moisture for up to 72 hours. Apply it to the skin for instant hydration.

This cream Is lightweight on the skin and is perfect for the summer months since it feels light and airy. Covergirl says you can wear it alone or underneath your makeup as a velvety smooth primer.

Covergirl Priming Glow Mist

Covergirl Priming Glow Mist

Finally, for some on-the-go hydration, their Priming Glow Mist (C$8.97) is the perfect purse companion.

This mist gives skin an instant boost of hydration, while also brightening skin and priming it for makeup. Spray it anytime you need a little pick me up to awaken dry skin and improve skin texture.

The spray contains rosewater and vitamin C to brighten and soothe skin. You can use it for a variety of different things and I always love keeping a spray like this at my desk for a little burst of hydration in the afternoon, or in my beach bag for a nice treat on a summer day.

All of the Covergirl skincare items are vegan and cruelty-free. Like I said before, it is a bare bones kind of line but I hope they add more items to the line up soon, especially a serum, eye cream, and toner.

Sunkissed and golden: Get the perfect glow with Sunna

Summer… AKA tanning season.

There is nothing better than spending a day lounging by the pool and feeling that Vitamin D on your skin. Although I am currently in the process of getting a natural tan, a little help along the way is a must and every week I’ve been applying self tanner into my routine to fake my golden glow.

Now I’ve written about a few different self tanners on here but one of the ones I have been grabbing a lot lately have been from SunnaTan (formerly Organic Tan). SunnaTan is a Canadian company and is made with clean and functional ingredients. Each product has an ingredient list that breaks down whether an ingredient is organic, natural, or naturally derived. Their products are also vegan, sulfate free, paraben free, and cruelty-free.

The line has a variety of self-tanning products, in addition to teeth whitening items. If their line sounds familiar then you’ll also recognize them from the various Organic Tan spray tan locations across Canada.

Anyways, if you are looking for a great self tanner this summer, then here are some of my top picks.

Colour Me Dark Express Tanning Mousse + Tanning Mitt

Colour Me Dark Express Tanning Mousse + Tanning Mitt

You can never go wrong with a tanning mousse and their product is no exception.

The Colour Me Dark Express Tanning Mousse + Tanning Mitt (C$69) is a blend of organic and natural ingredients that work to extend the life of your spray tan or work alone to give you a gorgeous glow.

This mousse is formula with natural ingredients and will give you a gorgeous colour upon application. Over a few hours the colour will develop safely and gradually. Leave it on for three hours for a light colour, six hours for medium colour, and eight-plus hours for dark.

I like to apply this either in the morning after my shower (and then rinse off at night) or at night before bed (and rinse in the morning). I do find that it gives me a gorgeous perfect glow even after one application. Since it does have some colour to it, it’s nice to apply since you can see where you are applying it. In terms of tackiness, this one does dry down nicely after about half an hour or so, so you don’t feel like you are wearing it.

SunnaTan Gradual Tanning Lotion

Gradual Tanning Lotion

In the days after using the tanning mousse, I like to apply the Gradual Tanning Lotion (C$32) to my body after my morning showers.

Typically when you apply tanner (or tan naturally), you want to make sure that your skin is hydrated since it will hold onto the tan longer. This lotion not only hydrates skin but it also gives you a subtle, gradual glow, thereby extending the life of your tan.

The formula contains hyaluronic acid, jojoba, and citrus essential oils, so not only is it super nourishing but it also smells amazing. The consistency of the lotion is really nice as well and I find it absorbs perfectly into the skin so you don’t feel like you are wearing a tanning product. I like to just apply it after my shower, lie around for five to 10 minutes in a robe and then get dressed. No rinse is needed for this one.

I highly recommend you pick up this product since I love how it works to keep your skin hydrated and also gives you a beautiful glow that you can build up day after day. It’s a great way to make your spray tan or mousse tanner last longer as well.

SunnaTan Keep Me Sunkissed Face Tan Water + Brush

Keep Me Sunkissed Face Tan Water + Brush

Although you can use the other tanning products on the face, I prefer to use a dedicated facial tanning product and the Face Tan Water is the perfect item to do so.

Available as just the water itself (C$44) or as a set with the brush (C$59), this facial tanning water is a gentle mist that adds a warm and subtle glow to your face. The formula contains hyaluronic acid, witch hazel water, and red maple extract to nourish your skin, as well as protect it from aging. It also has a beautiful natural scent of vanilla fruit water which is really pleasant once you spray it on.

I like to spray this on as the last step in my skincare routine and then use the brush to lightly tap it into skin and make sure I got all the areas on my face. Even if you prefer to tan naturally, it’s best to keep your face covered from the sun, so this spray is a great product to pick up to add that sunkissed glow to your skin.

Keep Me Golden Self-Tanning Mist

Keep Me Golden Self-Tanning Mist

Finally, so quick touch ups, or whenever you need a quick burst of tan, try out their Keep Me Golden Self-Tanning Mist (C$45).

This mist is their signature blend of SunnaTan ingredients, but in a spray formula which makes application more convenient and easier for travel. This spray is great for extending the life of your tan or for new application. Just spray the ultra-fine mist on your skin and watch it transform into a beautiful glow. It contains natural ingredients with a hint of shimmer, so it makes it perfect for the legs, shoulders, chest, face, etc.

This is a great product to pack for vacation since it’s a quick burst of tanner and gives you an instant glow. If you have any beach vacations, then I recommend throwing this in your luggage!

SunnaTan self tanning products

SunnaTan has a ton of other tanning products available and I recommend checking this line out. You can get it at various boutiques across Canada, but I recommend ordering direct from the website as they often run promos and deals.
