Sun’s out, fun’s out! The skincare you need to try for April 2021

The beauty category I could never get sick of? Skincare!

Seriously, brands have been on a roll with their skincare releases lately and just when I thought I’ve seen it all, there’s always more that gets released. When it comes to skincare, there is basically an item for just about any concern and the best part is, since the industry is so huge, there are so many options for any price point.

So if you are on the hunt for some new goodies this month (and just in time for the Sephora spring sale) then keep reading..

Laneige Lip Treatment Balm Laneige Lip Treatment Balm

One of my favourite skincare products ever is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Balm. I use this lip balm every single night before bed and the little jar will literally last you forever.

If you are a fan like me, then you’ll be overjoyed to know that the Korean skincare brand recently released a new lip balm to the family, the Lip Treatment Balm (C$32).

This lip balm, which comes in a super cute pink container that opens up, is a pearlescent daily lip treatment that coats lips in nourishing hydration, visibly smooths lip wrinkles, and boosts the look of fullness.

At first I totally thought this was along the same lines as their Lip Sleeping Mask, but this balm has a slight shiny tinge in it thanks to the pearlescent finish.  The formula contains coconut oil to moisturize and hydrate, peptide and adenosine to smooth lip wrinkles and boost fullness and firmness, and a pearlescent shine to make the lips stand out.

This lip balm smells amazing thanks to the coconut oil (perfect for summer since it smells like pina colada) and also has a cooling sensation when applied (which helps lips appear fuller as well).  The part I really love about it is the packaging.  It features a button detail on the lid which is actually the applicator which pulls out to apply the product, so not only is it super cool, but it’s also functional and keeps the balm nice and clean.

So if you’re wondering what the real difference is between this one, the Lip Sleeping Mask, and the Lip Glowy Balm, the sleeping mask is an overnight treatment, the glowy balm is for everyday wear, and the lip treatment is more a more intense treatment and also makes lips appear fuller.

If you are a fan of either of Laneige’s lip balms already then you need to pick this one up.

Tula Prime of Your Life

Tula Prime of Your Life Smoothing & Firming Treatment

You guys know how much I love Tula, so when they released a new primer, I was thrilled to try it out.

I’ve tried all their other primers, and although I don’t wear much makeup anymore, hence the decrease in the use of primers, I have always really loved how theirs performs and applies.

Tula’s newest primer, Prime of Your Life Smoothing & Firming Treatment ($42 USD) is a primer that has a skincare mentality and is packed with peptides, collagen amino acids & hyaluronic acid to smooth out the look of wrinkles, while also plumping and firming the appearance of skin over time.

This primer contains Vitamins B and C to brighten skin, as well as marine algae to improve elasticity, a blend of probiotics and prebiotic extracts to keep skin balanced and reduce the look of wrinkles.

This primer is very soft and light, and instantly gives you a blurred effect on the skin. You can either wear it alone or underneath makeup for a flawless application.

Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask

Belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask

I love myself a good sleeping mask, so when I got in Belif’s Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask (C$45), I couldn’t want to go to bed and give it a try.

Apply this gel mask before bed to lock in and seal moisture all night long.  This mask contains Scottish Heather, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, Lady’s Mantle, which helps keep complexion smooth and youthful, and nappies aqua formula, which boosts hyaluronic acid.

This mask has a jelly-like formula (honestly, it feels like Jello), which contours to the skin to provide a refreshing layer of hydration. This mask will help to rejuvenate and replenish dull, dry, and fatigued skin so you wake up with hydration, glowing, and happy skin.

If you use retinol, this mask is also great to layer over top since retinol can be drying on the skin. Apply your retinol first and then layer this on top to lock in moisture.

Reversa Radiance Glow Cream

Reversa Radiance Glow Cream

I’m a huge fan of Reversa products and have been for a while now. Not only is the line Canadian, but it’s often found in derma clinics and it’s not as expensive as some of it’s other medical-spa counterparts.

New to the line is the Reversa Radiance Glow Cream (C$60), which is a lotion that is aimed to give you a radiant, hydrated, and luminous complexion.

We all now how our skin changes depending on the season and the weather, so this cream is aimed to instantly restore and revive skin’s luminosity and natural radiance. The formula contains a blend of glycolic acid, nonapeptide-1, murunga plum, and watermelon fruit extracts (I’ve been seeing this a lot lately in skincare) to smooth out the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and give your skin a natural-looking glow.  It also contains fragmented hyaluronic acid and shea butter to hydrate, plump, strengthen, and protect skin, so after a few days of use you’ll notice a more radiant complexion.

In addition to all this, this cream also has illuminating pigments in the formula to reflect and diffuse light, as well as mask fine lines and slight imperfections. It’s the cream that will give you a summer glow right now.

Fenty Beauty Body Sauce Luminizing Tint

Fenty Beauty Body Sauce Luminizing Tint

Speaking of summer, the one product you absolutely need for your body during the summer months (aside from sunscreen obvi) is Fenty Beauty’s Body Sauce Luminizing Tint (C$63).

This new body makeup from Fenty is a blurring, lightweight and subtly lumping body tint that applies like a dream thanks to its silky texture and helps to blur up any imperfection and add a killer glow.

This product, available in seven shades (I have the lightest one, Pearl Swirl), is transfer and sweat resistant, meaning that it won’t melt or wash away. It’s incredible lightweight and blends out to perfection, leaving you with a subtly shimmering complexion.

I love using products like this in the summer for nights out since it helps to cover up any veins, spots, etc. on my legs. This one also adds subtle colour which is buildable, as well as a radiant glow, which is incredibly eye catching.  Of course this isn’t just for the legs, you can put it on your shoulders, chest, really anywhere that needs a little oomph. I can’t wait to use this all summer long.

Indeed in-ceramide Daily Moisture Cream

Indeed in-ceramide Daily Moisture Cream

Looking for long-lasting hydration? Then take a look at Indeed’s newest product.

The Indeed Labs in-ceramide Daily Moisture Cream (C$22.99) is a lightweight cream that is aimed to give you all-day hydration, as well as plumpness for dry and sensitive skin types.

This cream contains three ceramides, which are known for packing on moisture. The three ceramides are C+eramide, which increases hydration by over 75 per cent in just an hour; SK-Influx, which restores the skin’s barrier function and enhances moisturization, which helps out sensitive skin; and Hydrasensyn Glucan, which combines the hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid and the structure of collagen to reduced inflammation, smooth out skin, and provide long-lasting hydration.

Use this moisturizer both day and night to get hydrated and nourished skin.
