Easy breezy: Covergirl releases Clean Fresh Skincare line

When I saw that Covergirl released a skincare line earlier this year all I could think was “about time”.

It makes total sense for a cosmetic brand to come out with a skincare line since good makeup really starts at the skin level. Covergirl used to have some products that were collaborations with Olay, but I believe they have phased those out over the years since Covergirl is now owned by Coty and Olay is still owned by P&G (they used to be both owned by P&G).

Anyways, since skincare has become so big over the past few years due to the pandemic, it makes total sense that a drugstore makeup line would come out with a line of skincare products too. Now when it comes to the product line up, it’s not as vast as I would like it, however, it does have the staples in it and there are items that you absolutely need to use at the bare minimum in your routine.

So what does the collection entail? Well keep reading…

Covergirl Hydrating Cream Cleanser

Covergirl Hydrating Cream Cleanser

Your skincare routine should start with a cleanser, so grab the Hydrating Cream Cleanser (C$8.97), which is a non-drying formula that is aimed to wash makeup and impurities, as well as dirt and oil from your face. This cleanser is formulated for all skin types and includes the brand’s TruClean Cactus Water, which is electrolyte rich, as well as meadowfoam seed oil to condition and nourish for balanced and clean skin.

Apply a small amount in your hands, lather it up on the skin and then rinse off. The formula is also vegan and non-drying and will improve skin texture for a flawless makeup application.

Covergirl Dry Skin Corrector Cream

So unfortunately Covergirl doesn’t have a toner, eye cream, or serum in their line, however, if you are looking for a moisturizer, they have three to choose from.

The Covergirl Dry Skin Corrector Cream (C$10.42) is aimed to instantly soothe and correct dry, stressed, and sensitive skin. The moisturizer is quite rich in texture, but doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.

It contains hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil to soothe skin, as well as shea butter to hydrate. It also has the brand’s TruClean Cactus Water to lock in moisture as well. Apply it to your skin for hydrated skin, as well as improved texture and tone over time.

This moisturizer is great for the colder winter months, or even for skin which has been out in the sun for too long. Although I have a normal skin type, sometimes I do get dry patches or irritation and that’s where this will definitely come in handy.

This moisturizer is aimed for normal to oily skin.

This moisturizer contains the electrolyte-rich TruClean Cactus Water, as well as hyaluronic acid to hydrate and lock in moisture for up to 72 hours. Apply it to the skin for instant hydration.

This cream Is lightweight on the skin and is perfect for the summer months since it feels light and airy. Covergirl says you can wear it alone or underneath your makeup as a velvety smooth primer.

Covergirl Priming Glow Mist

Covergirl Priming Glow Mist

Finally, for some on-the-go hydration, their Priming Glow Mist (C$8.97) is the perfect purse companion.

This mist gives skin an instant boost of hydration, while also brightening skin and priming it for makeup. Spray it anytime you need a little pick me up to awaken dry skin and improve skin texture.

The spray contains rosewater and vitamin C to brighten and soothe skin. You can use it for a variety of different things and I always love keeping a spray like this at my desk for a little burst of hydration in the afternoon, or in my beach bag for a nice treat on a summer day.

All of the Covergirl skincare items are vegan and cruelty-free. Like I said before, it is a bare bones kind of line but I hope they add more items to the line up soon, especially a serum, eye cream, and toner.
