Long and strong: LASHFOOD Eyelash and Eyebrow Enhancing products

We all strive for long lashes.

Whether it’s applying mascara, putting on false lashes, or even getting lash extensions, when it comes to eyelashes, usually the longer the better.

I’ve done all three of the above and although I really did enjoy lash extensions, I ended up getting an allergic reaction to them so I had to stop doing it.  Plus, you know with COVID and the fact that it’s very expensive to maintain/there are a bunch of limits with them as well (no serums, no eye masks when you sleep, etc.), they just aren’t for me anymore.

Lashfood products

With that being said, since it’s been COVID it’s actually been a blessing in disguise for my lashes since I barely wear any makeup anymore.  I work from home and don’t really see anyone often, so there isn’t a reason to apply makeup on a daily basis.  Because of that, my hair, skin, lashes have been loving me lately.

This past summer I went and got done a lash lift and tint, which I absolutely loved and definitely want to get again in the future. After getting that done the first time around and seeing how long my natural lashes are it kinda solidified the fact that I actually do have really nice lashes. But of course, they could always be thicker and longer.

And that’s where today’s post comes in.

For the past few months I have been using a lash serum to help my lashes grow longer and thicker and I can happily tell you that this product has been working like a charm.  There are so many of these serums out right now and since they are a pretty high investment (Latisse, which is the original medical-grade one and requires a prescription, can cost hundreds of dollars, but the other ones on the market are around the $100 range), I know it can be a gamble to purchase these and see if they actually work.

The place where I got my lash lift and tint, Wink Studio here in Winnipeg, sells this brand called LASHFOOD and since it’s something that is sold in a salon, I thought it would be a great line to try out.

 LASHFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyelash Enhancer Serum

LASHFOOD offers up two different enhancer serums, one for lashes and one for brows.  I did receive both, but since my brows grow like crazy, I didn’t bother giving that one a try.  I have been using the LASHFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyelash Enhancer Serum (C$100) though and am so impressed with the results I’ve gotten.

The LASHFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyelash Enhancer Serum is the world’s first and only Ecocert natural eyelash enhancer and works to nourish lashes to make them look longer, thicker, and stronger.  The formula includes their patented Phyto-Medic Complex to give your lashes nutrients.

Unlike Latisse, there is no prescription required and the formula itself is natural, drug-free, and irritant-free.  It’s also dermatologist tested and approved and vegan, so you shouldn’t experience any of those scary side effects which are known with these kinds of enhancers (which to be honest, are probably pretty rare, but still, it’s nice knowing that this is completely safe and won’t change your eye colour for example).

LASHFOOD contains 99.49 per cent ingredients that are from natural origin and 25.02 per cent of ingredients that are from organic farming.

LASHFOOD Conditioning Collagen Lash Mascara Primer

You apply this product along the lash line right above your lashes and I like to apply it as the last step in my skincare routine at night. During the day I have actually been applying the LASHFOOD Conditioning Collagen Lash Mascara Primer (C$27), which is a lash primer that is supposed to extend, thicken, and boost the volume of your lashes.  You can use this under your mascara or on its own, which is what I do.

This primer is great to use as a daytime nourishing mask for your lashes.  You apply it via the mascara wand and although for the formula is white, it’s not that noticeable on the lashes if you are just wearing it by itself. It contains a nano-peptide complex to promote lash vitality and also has micro-thickening natural lash fibres to boost the look of lashes. I have found that the combo of these two products have really worked and my lashes are definitely looking longer and thicker.  I can’t wait for an excuse to go and get another lash lift and tint since I know that my lashes are going to look very similar to extensions; that’s how long they have gotten.

BROWFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyebrow Enhancer Serum and LASHFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyelash Enhancer Serum

As for their other products, like I mentioned, they also have a brow enhancer as well.  The BROWFOOD Phyto-Medic Eyebrow Enhancer Serum (C$110) works to grow in over-plucked, thin, and uneven brows.  It also contains a natural, safe, and effective formula, which is Ecocert certified, vegan, and dermatologist tested and approved.  This features the same kind of brush but is quite thicker, allowing you to fully sweep this along your existing brow hair, as well as any area which is sparse and needs some hair grown.

The brand also has a number of other cosmetic products, including the Chamomile Makeup Eraser Pen (C$24), which works as an eraser to fix any brow or eyeliner mistakes.  This pen is infused with chamomile and Vitamin E to soothe sensitive skin. I haven’t used this a ton, but the times I did use it, I was impressed by how easy it was to remove makeup.  This is great to have on hand when doing a perfect cat eye since it removes makeup really easily, even the waterproof kind.

I still have some formula left in my eyelash enhancer serum and believe me, I will be using up every last drop of this sweet nectar.  I know the price is quite steep but I found it worked for me and truthfully, if you get eyelash extensions already, this is like getting two fills, so it more than pays for itself.

Balanced skin: Three toner pads to try out

Okay, so when it comes to toners, this is a necessary step in any skincare routine.

I’ve tried a variety of different toners and they help to prep the skin for the rest of your skincare routine, while also getting rid of makeup, dirt, oil, you name it.  Occasionally I like to swap out my regular toner for an exfoliating toner pad, which typically contain various acids to  exfoliate, tone, and brighten the skin.

I’ve used a few different toner pads through the years and found them to be really beneficial for my skin.  Some of these work similar to a peel that you would get at a derm clinic, but at a lower and safer level for at-home use. If this sounds like something that you want to incorporate into your skincare routine, then there are so many amazing options available right now, at all different price points.

I’ve recently gotten a few different formulas sent over, so if you are interested in these pads, then keep reading for my top three picks!

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

When it comes to these toner pads, the First Aid Beauty ones are definitely some of my favourites.

These Facial Radiance Pads (C$48), which comes in a jar with 60 pads, is a daily treatment pad that contains lactic and glycolic acid to gently exfoliate, tone, and brighten the skin.  These pads are safe for all skin types (even sensitive skin) and you can use them either once or twice a day (I like to use it at night personally).

These pads also contain cucumber and Indian Gooseberry to tone skin, as well as lemon peel and liquorice root to leave your skin with a beautiful glow.  With regular use, you will notice that your skin looks smoother and brighter. You may also find that your makeup goes on more effortlessly and flawless.

Tula Balancing Act Purifying & pH Balancing Toner Pads

Tula Balancing Act Purifying & pH Balancing Toner Pads

Brand new from Tula are their Balancing Act Purifying & pH Balancing Toner Pads ($36 USD), which were just released this month!

These pads, which comes in a jar with 60 pads, help to tighten the look of pores and lift impurities.  These contain probiotics and probiotics to help balance the skin’s natural pH levels after cleansing.

The formula contains witch hazel to tighten the look or pores, as well as lactic acid and PHA to purify the skin without stripping it of moisture.  These work to combat dullness, breakouts, and improve uneven skin tone. These pads are made of bamboo fibres and an alcohol-free formula that is gentle, yet powerful on the skin. They also have a refreshing mint scent which is a nice treat whether you are applying it in the morning or at night before bed.

Don’t forget, score 15% off your Tula order with code SHAYNA! With my code, it brings these pads down to $30.60.

Dr. Belmeur Amino Clear Peeling Pad

Dr. Belmeur Amino Clear Peeling Pads

Finally, from one of my favourite K-beauty brands, Dr. Belmeur has their Amino Clear Peeling Pads (C$34), which is a container of 60 pads which are infused with amino acid to help remove excess oil, dead skin cell, and impurities to give you a smoother complexion.

Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, these are meant for daily use (for sensitive skin the brand recommends only two to three times a week) and they act as a low-irritant peel.

These pads feature a gauze side for intense care of dull skin with excess dead skin cells (not suitable for sensitive skin), and an embossed side for a gentle peeling effect. They contain serine (amino acid) to promote exfoliation and provide skin with a lightening effect, as well as allantoin to soothe and condition skin and panthenol, which is a low-irritant moisturizer.

Use these daily for a nice treatment which will leave you with smoother skin.  They also feature a nice scent of rosemary, bergamot, and eucalyptus.

If you are looking to up your skincare routine this year, I recommend that you look into one of these toner/treatment pads to incorporate into your routine. Any of these choices would be a great option for your skin, especially since they are great for all skin types.

Eating well: The products from Organica you need to try + Tula releases gummies

Okay, so typically with a new year comes new health goals.

There is something about starting a brand new year and starting a new lifestyle plan that just goes hand in hand. Maybe because we are fresh out of the holiday season and spring and summer is on the horizon shortly, but if you’re like me, you are looking froward to eating healthier, moving your body, and just trying to have a better lifestyle and mentality.

Organika products

Over the past few years I have really been focused on implementing good nutritious options into my diet. You guys know I love Vital Proteins and use their products often, same goes with protein powders, and other supplements and vitamins. Because of that I’m always on the hunt for new brands and new products to incorporate into my diet.

Brand new to me is a line called Organika, which is a Canadian company that specializes in supplements and healthy products. They carry everything from supplements, powders, cookies, and much more. Since I’m new to the brand, they send over a variety of different items to try out and I honestly can’t wait to dig into them.

Organika FAV Keto Biscuits

First up are the FAV Keto Mini Cookies, which come in three different flavours.  There is Double Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, and Snickerdoodle.  These bite-sized cookies are Keto-friendly, meaning that they contain healthy fats, and also contain protein, 1g of naturally-occurring sugar, and all ingredients that you would actually know and pronounce.

I tried the Snickerdoodle first ones and really enjoyed them.  They were a nice little mid-afternoon snack that helped to curb my hunger between meals.  I’m not on the Keto diet, but truthfully the nutritional info isn’t that bad and they contain 14g of good fat.  Now with that being said, you can definitely tell that these are Keto since they have a slight buttery/oily taste to them.  When I looked at the ingredients, coconut oil and butter were pretty high on the list, however, that’s usually the case with a Keto diet.

A 90g pouch of these are $9.99, which is on the pricier side, however, I find these kinds of items to be pretty expensive in general.  I really enjoyed these and probably wouldn’t eat them everyday because of the price, but I like the ingredient list and the fact that they are non-GMO, grain free and gluten free.

Organika Adaptogen Milk Latte

Next up is their Adaptogen Milk Latte (C$31.99), which is a powder that you add to hot water or your other favourite hot milk beverage (like almond milk or oat milk).

This latte is full of adaptogens, including organic mushrooms and herbs that are traditionally used in Ayurveda, which is a lifestyle system from India that emphasizes good health and the prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle practices.  This powder is 100 per cent plant based and caffeine free and also includes prebiotic fibre in every serving.  It is also dairy free, non-GMO, caffeine free, gluten free, vegan friendly, and features a clean and natural formula.

Aside from mushrooms it also includes coconut milk, cardamon, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, macaroni root, reishi mushroom, lion’s mane mushroom, and ashwagandha.

Now I know this sounds kinda weird since it has mushrooms in it, but this product is actually naturally sweetened with coconut palm sugar so it does have a slight sweetness to it.   Since this product doesn’t have any caffeine in it, you can take it anytime, even before bed.

I love these kinds of powders and find them to be a real treat. Organika recommends including four levelled tsp. to any plant-based beverage to have it on its own, additionally you can also add it to smoothies, shakes, and baked goods.

Tula Balanced Beauty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies

Lastly, and this one is not part of Organika’s line, but it’s still a great health supplement to incorporate into your routine, is one of Tula’s newest releases.

The Balanced Beauty Gummy Vitamins for Strong Hair, Skin, and Nails Plus Probiotics ($30 USD) are a berry-blend gummy that provides vitamins for healthy skin, hair growth, and nail growth.  These gummies, which include biotin and folic acid, as well as probiotics, help to calm bloating by improving the natural balance of the digestive system.

These gummies are natural and vegan and each jar includes a 30-day supply (they also have seven-day supply if you want to try them out) and you’re supposed to take two gummies per day.  I have been taking these over the past few days and really love the taste and the fact that they help with skin, hair, and nails.  I’ve taken similar gummies in the past from other brands but you guys know I love Tula, so when I saw they released their own kind, I was really excited to try them out.

Unfortunately Tula is only available in the United States for now, but for my American followers, you can use code SHAYNA for 15% off your Tula order!

I’m really excited to incorporate these products more into my diet and lifestyle.  I use collagen and protein powders on a daily basis so I am very excited to have these products and use them in addition to the positive lifestyle intentions I incorporate everyday.
