Okay, you guys know I LOVE Tula, and use their products everyday, morning and night. Although I haven’t tried everything in their line, I want to say I’ve tried at least 90 per cent of their items and aside from maybe one, they have all been fabulous on my skin.
Since we are now in the middle of February (so crazy how time has been flying!), and we are on the tail end of a cold snap here, I’ve been transitioning some products in and out of my routine and the one thing that I have been focused on is being hydrated and making my skin look radiant and bright.
Thankfully, Tula has tons of products to keep your skin looking bright and even, and if you are on the hunt for something new, then keep reading.
Tula Brightening Treatment Drops
I initially got this product a few months ago in Montreal and recently got a new one sent to me here in Winnipeg. Although there are two other treatment drops (wrinkle and sensitive skin), I love the Brightening one since it’s a treatment with Vitamin C.
The Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum ($48 USD) contains 10 per cent Triple Vitamin C Complex, including three types of Vitamin C to treat dull skin and help reduce the look of dark spots, as well as one which reactivates the other two throughout the day to protect skin against the elements.
The formula also contains probiotics, prebiotics, lychee and mango extracts to even out the skin tone, as well as give you radiance. Use two to three drops daily, morning and night.
So Smooth Resurfacing & Brightening Fruit Enzyme Mask
A self-care must? A great mask!
I have masks of all types and textures but I love the Tula masks since they are pretty lightweight and pack a serious punch.
The So Smooth Resurfacing & Brightening Fruit Enzyme Mask ($36 USD) is a gel-like mask that is aimed to give you smoother and brighter skin. Layer it on your skin for 10 minutes and then rinse off to reveal bright, glowing and balanced skin.
The formula includes natural pineapple, pumpkin and pomegranate enzymes which are combined with AHA, BHA, and PHA gentle acids to exfoliate and polish skin. You’ll find with regular use that your skin will look and feel softer, as well as a more even tone.
When applied, this will give you a slight tingly effect, but that’s just so you know it’s working.
Brighten Up Smoothing Primer Gel
Lastly, if you are a regular makeup wearer, take a look at Tula’s Brighten Up Smoothing Primer Gel ($34).
This primer comes in a gel formula and will deliver brighter and smoother skin. The formula contain yuzu for brightening, as well as probiotics to maintain balance, and willow herb to calm blemish-prone skin.
This primer is silicone free and helps to grip makeup without clogging up your pores. Since it’s a gel formula, makeup glides on the skin and stays put all day. It also gives you an instant cooling and refreshing feel once applied.
Tula also has a brand new mask coming out this month, so if you are a Tula fan like me, then keep an eye out for this new item, which launches this week!
Don’t forget, use code SHAYNA for 15% off your Tula.com order (US residents only)!.

Okay so we all know the struggle of wearing lipstick with masks, but on the plus side, it looks like Valentine’s Day will most likely be held at home.
I have quite the collection of lipsticks, and most of them aren’t getting nearly enough wear, but at the same time, I do love adding new ones into my collection. I’m such a sucker for matte lipsticks, so when I saw Lancome’s L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte Matte Lipstick (C$42), I was instantly sold.
I’ve tried their other L’Absolu Rouge formulas before and love everything from the packaging to how creamy these feel. The Intimatte Matte version is, you guessed it, matte, and is the newest formula in the range. These lipsticks dress lips in soft colour which blurs around the edges, so no lip liner is needed. The finish is a powder matte, and unlike other matte lipsticks out there, these are actually incredibly creamy to apply and feel soft and nourishing on the lips.
The formula in these include hyaluronic acid for moisture, pro-xylane, and rose extract, so they are nice and nourishing. It also features similar packaging to their other L’Absolu range in that you press down on the button of the top, which releases the bottom part of the lipstick.
Lancome sent over three shades from their 16-range collection and all of them are so perfect for Valentine’s Day. Aside from pinks and reds, their shade range varies from nudes (my personal favourite) to even a lilac purple.
I really like these and am impressed with the formula. I also love the blurring effect on the lips, which makes them really pretty to wear. It kind of gives you a more natural finish, if that makes sense. Of course, these don’t dry down, so you do run the risk of transfer, but honestly, I don’t mind a little reapplication, especially since my lipsticks aren’t getting the same amount of wear that they got pre-COVID.

I’ve tried a lot of different skincare lines and it seems like every week there is a new one popping up on the market. Out of all the ones I have tried, I have a few favourites and one of those is definitely First Aid Beauty (FAB).
It’s been a while since I’ve had FAB products in my routine but they are a brand that I know and love and there are a few items that I can’t recommend enough. One of those is their Ultra Repair Cream, that will last you a while, and the other are the Facial Radiance Pads (which I talked about recently here).
Anyways, if you have been curious about FAB products but totally lost on which items to pick up (they have quite the collection of products), then keep reading for the run down on which items to try.
Okay, so starting first with a basic skincare routine, try their Pure Skin Face Cleanser (C$29), which is a gentle cleanser that removes makeup, dirt and grime, leaving skin prepped for the rest of your skincare routine. This cleanser is fragrance free and has a whipped texture that transforms into a cream when water hits it.
The formula has a botanical antioxidant blend, which also helps to protect skin against environmental aggressors, while also keeping it nice and calm. This cleanser is good for normal, dry, and combination skin, and if you suffer from redness, dryness, or large pores, then you’ll probably notice a difference with this. This cleanser also doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry or tight.
Once your skin is clean, apply the Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner (C$29). This toner features an alcohol-free formula that has oatmeal in it to hydrate, relieve and soothe and balance skin. The formula includes oat milk, colloidal oatmeal, and wild oats combined with honey and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, relieve redness, and soothe skin. It’s the perfect treatment to apply prior to your serums and moisturizers since skin is prepped for those next steps.
If you want something a little more powerful, then take a look at their Facial Radiance Pads (C$48), which is a daily treatment pad that helps to exfoliate, tone, and brighten all skin types. These come in a pad format where you apply it to your skin once or twice a day. They contain cucumber and Indian gooseberry to tone skin, as well as lemon peel and licorice root to leave your skin looking bright and glowing.
A great combo would be the Oat Hydrating Toner in the morning and then the Facial Radiance Pads at night.
For a moisturizer, give their Ultra Repair Cream (C$48) a shot. This moisturizer will last you a long time since in comes in a 6.0 oz. jar and it is suitable for your face all the way down to your toes. This moisturizer is aimed to give you instant relief and long-term hydration for dry, distressed skin. It features a whipped texture which is soothing on the skin and non-greasy. It is perfect for all skin types, even sensitive.
The formula of this moisturizer includes colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, ceramide 3, and the FAB antioxidant booster to provide instant relief for dry skin. In addition to giving your skin major moisture, it will also help treat redness, wrinkles, and fine lines.
Although the Ultra Repair Cream is suitable for oily skin, if you want something a little more targeted, then take a look at the Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer (C$42). This moisturizer contains zero oil in the formula and helps to mattify the skin and deliver weightless hydration without clogging up your pores.
The formula of this moisturizer contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate, oil-absorbing microspheres, oil-control technology like niacinamide to control sebum production, and oat extract to nourish, calm and soothe skin.
This moisturizer will keep oil in check, give you a matte finish, and help to minimize the appearance of pores.
Now that you have your skincare routine down pat, don’t forget to apply your SPF! First Aid Beauty has their Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF 30 sunscreen (C$45).
This sunscreen is perfect for everyday use and contains mineral SPF 30 to give you optimal sun protection. Unlike other sunscreens, this will not leave a white film on your skin and it absorbs quickly into the skin. It’s also light, invisible and non-greasy.
The formula contains antioxidants to also protect your skin against environmental aggressors and pollution, which often cause advanced aging. It also won’t clog pores and features a universal sheer tint.
Make sure to apply this everyday, even if it’s freezing cold out or if you have no plans to leave your house. It’s super important to apply SPF to your skin everyday, no matter what you are doing or where you are.
For your body skin, if you suffer from keratosis pilaris (KP), a common skin condition that causes dry, rough patches and tiny bumps, then you’ll love the KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub 10% AHA (C$36). This body scrub contains glycolic and lactic acids at a combined level of 10 per cent to help loosen skin’s top layer while also decongesting pores thanks to the pumice buffing beads. This scrub contains the benefits of a chemical peel and a micro-dermabrasion treatment all in one.
Now that we’ve gone through the basics of your routine, it’s super important to also add in a serum. Serums are more potent than moisturizers and help to further treat skin concerns.
As part of their Ultra Repair collection, they have the Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum (C$50). This is a water-based serum that delivers a daily dose of moisture for smooth, soft, and more youthful-looking skin.
The formula includes hyaluronic acid, collagen, and peptides, and this serum helps to lock in hydration and improve the overall appearance of skin. It’s a lightweight gel texture and works wonders with the Ultra Repair moisturizer.
If you need something more targeted for dry or red skin, then take a look at their Ultra Repair Oat and Hemp Seed Dry Oil (C$45). This oil is infused with hemp seed oil and colloidal oatmeal to help calm stressed-out skin, as well as dry and sensitive skin.
The formula of this oil also contains a blend of 16 cold-pressed active botanicals which help to calm and soothe dry and distressed skin. Since it’s a dry oil it does absorb quickly and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy.
Finally, if you have dark spots or uneven skin tone, then check out their new Facial Radiance Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum (C$55). This serum helps to reduce the look of dark spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and post-acne marks. The formula contains niacinamide to give you healthy tone and texture, as well as make the skin more bouncy. It also has licorice root to soothe and brighten, golden kiwifruit to protect the skin against free radical damage, and undecyclenoyl phenylalanine to reduce the look of hyperpigmentation.
Apply this morning and night before your moisturizer and don’t forget to apply your SPF after this in the morning as well!
Finally, for those who need some extra TLC, take a look at their FAB Pharma line. This line of products includes four items that are targeted to solve any skin emergency that may pop up.
Have a zit appear overnight? Then take a look at their FAB Pharma BHA Acne Treatment Gel 2% Salicylic Acid (C$34). This treatment works to get rid of breakouts quick thanks to the two per cent salicylic acid.
I love using these treatments whenever I get zits pop up on my skin and find that they really do work well in getting rid of breakouts. Just apply a small amount directly on the zit, something I like doing prior to bed. This helps to clear up blemishes, whiteheads and blackheads, as well as fight the formation of acne marks.
Now if you are like me and live in a really cold climate, then you’ll love their FAB Pharma Arnica Relief and Rescue Mask (C$42). This mask is great for stressed-out, dry and irritated skin. Apply this on the skin for at least 15 minutes for it to help calm, soothe, and moisturize skin.
The formula contains arnica, which heals skin and provides anti-inflammatory properties to soothe and smooth out skin. After one use you’ll find your skin appears soft, supple, and more dewy. This is great for combatting dullness, dryness, puffiness, redness and uneven texture.
These are just a small offering of what First Aid Beauty has in their line up of skincare products. Like I said in the beginning, this is one of my favourite skincare lines and I love the vast amount of items that they have for just about any skincare concern.
