Simply natural: Avon introduces FarmRX clean skincare

A big beauty push over the last few years? Clean beauty and skincare!

There are so many vegan and clean lines out there right now in the beauty world and the ones that aren’t yet at that level are definitely catching on.  A brand that has recently incorporated some clean products into their line? Avon!

Recently introduced, the FarmRx line is Avon’s foray into the clean beauty market with a variety of skincare products that are packed with super nutrients to keep skin looking softer, brighter, and healthier.

Avon FarmRX products

Formulated with a bunch of amazing ingredients, these products contain a high level of natural formulations to give you incredible skin.  Some of the items you can find in their products include broccoli sprouts, which are rich in Vitamins A, B, and C to relieve redness and itchiness due to dryness; green tea, which has polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that help to soothe and perfect skin; moringa oil with omega fatty acids to product skin’s moisture barrier; and brussel sprouts, which are high in vitamins and antioxidants to repair dry skin.

The line consists of four products, a cooling gel, a moisture cream, an eye cream, and a serum. The FarmRx Super Greens Cooling Gel (C$53) is a lightweight moisturizer that helps to cool and soothe skin. This would be perfect for skin irritation or for after sun exposure. You can either apply it as a moisturizer or lay it on thick for a mask to hydrate overnight. It contains an 86 per cent natural formula.

The FarmRx Super Greens Multivitamin Moisture Cream (C$53) is a nourishing moisturizer that has a 98 per cent natural formula. Use this as a regular moisturizer day and night for hydrated and moisturized skin.

The FarmRx Bakuchiol Eye Cream (C$53) is a hydrating eye cream that is supposed to reduce the look of dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles.  It features bakuchiol, which is a plant-based alternative to retinol. It helps to visibly reduce wrinkles and discolouration without the irritation that retinol can sometimes cause.  It also doesn’t promote skin photosensitivity, you can use it during the day.  This eye cream contains a 90 per cent natural formula and is aimed to make your eye area look smoother, brighter, and firmer.

Finally, the FarmRx Bakuchiol Serum (C$63) is a concentrated lightweight serum that targets fine lines, wrinkles, and dullness without any irritation.  Use it regularly to discover more younger looking and radiant skin. The formula in the serum is 98 per cent natural.

Now if these products sound right up your alley but are unsure if you want to pick up everything, then you’re in luck since Avon actually released a trial set which contains deluxe sizes of all four products in a FSC-certified box.

The FarmRX Special Trial Kit (C$27) contains 10ml sizes of the two moisturizers, 5 ml of the serum, and 5 ml of the eye cream.  I love this little set since it only retails for C$27 and it gives you enough product to really try out the line to see if your skin likes it.

I’m really excited to give these products a shot and see how they work with my skin.  Avon sent me the trial kit, which I always love getting since these sizes are also great for travel.

Luck of the Irish: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with ImPRESS Manicure

ImPRESS St. Patrick's Day nails You guys we are officially upon the one-year anniversary of COVID.

I remember this time last year when I started working at home and it was going to be a two-week trial. From there, we would evaluate at the end of the month if we would be going back to the office. Well, fast forward one year and I’m still working at home and, not gonna lie, kinda digging my remote routine.

With that being said, I do miss the freedoms of certain things like the freedom to travel without a quarantine and the ability to go to a restaurant with friends.

The first holiday we experienced in quarantine is St. Patrick’s Day, which isn’t really a holiday I celebrate anyways, but I do have to say now that it would be nice to go to a bar and have a few beers.  Seeing as that won’t be happening this year, I’ll still be celebrating the holiday this year through some fun nail designs from ImPRESS Manicure.

Special for St. Patrick’s Day, ImPRESS Manicure has released a couple styles that are sure to bring lots of luck your way.  I’ve talked about ImPRESS Manicure a lot of here and they are my favourite press-on nails.  They recently redid their packaging and included their innovative PureFit Technology where each pack includes 30 nails, a nail file, a prep pad and a mini wood stick.  Because there are so many sizes to choose from, you’re guaranteed to find a press on that fits all your nails.

Special in this collection are two designs. The first one is just a bold solid green colour in a shamrock colour. This green is great since although it is very on-brand for the holiday, it’s a stunning green shade for spring and summer too, so you don’t have to necessarily wear them now. Same goes for the other design, St. Patty, which is actually so stunning and can also be worn outside the holiday as well.

The St. Patty design features three different designs on the nails. One is a matte mint green, the second is a clear nail with green sparkle, and the third is a matte white with little three-leaf shamrocks in crystals on them. I absolutely love these and also love that they don’t necessarily scream St. Patrick’s Day, so you can wear them all week and beyond and not feel like you are dragging out the holiday.  Also, since there are 30 nails in three designs, you can mix and match which designs you want to wear on your nails.

These also come in the short size, which is great for someone like me who loves the look of long nails but finds them to be difficult to work with in an everyday capacity.

I love these two new designs, and like I said, they don’t necessarily scream St. Patrick’s Day but still give some major Irish vibes. You can also wear them beyond the holiday as well, so if you pick up both designs there isn’t a huge rush to put them on since they are pretty generic.

How will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year?

Doe eyed: L’Oreal Paris Bambi Eyes Mascara

L'Oreal Paris Bambi Eyes mascara

This past Monday, in celebration of International Women’s Day, L’Oreal Paris Canada held their fifth-annual Women of Worth gala.  Due to COVID-19, the event was held virtually, which actually ended up being in my favour since the event is typically held in Toronto and I live in Winnipeg.

Anyways, since it was virtual, L’Oreal Paris was very kind and invited me to watch the event via Zoom and since it’s typically a fancy event, they sent along a box of items that would come in handy when watching the emotional event. In addition to some bubbly, a box of tissues, and a red matte lipstick, they also included a waterproof mascara, which let me tell you, definitely came in handy (they highlighted so many inspirational women!).

The mascara they sent along was their Bambi Eye Mascara (C$12.98), which I had heard about previously and was interested in trying.  This mascara, which also comes in a normal non-waterproof formula, is a volumizing mascara that is aimed to give you a doe-eyed effect.

The mascara features a unique brush that allows you to sweep the formula on the entire lash from inner to outer corner.  The brush features a mix of long and short bristles and the formula is great for providing separate, definition, and curl.  As a result, you’re left with longer-looking lashes that are curled, smooth, and defined.

Like I said, I was really excited to give this mascara a try since I’ve heard some great things about it. I don’t typically reach for waterproof mascaras since I find it them difficult to remove, but this one actually wasn’t too bad and came off relatively easily.

As for performance, I mean you can tell in the photo below that this mascara is definitely very impressive.  I loved how long it made my lashes look and after one coat I was audibly impressed (I for sure said the word “wow” after applying it).  The formula isn’t clumpy and really does lengthen the look of your lashes.  After trying this mascara, I can definitely see why they called it “Bambi Eye”.

So it’s pretty obvious that I love this mascara and at under $20, it’s definitely worth it to pick up.  I think it even performed better than other luxury mascaras I have in my collection.  Since the one I have is the waterproof version, I’ll definitely hang onto this for summer days when I’m lounging by the pool (currently counting down the days!).

Have you tried L’Oreal’s Bambi Eye Mascara?
