Serum savers: Three serums to try out this spring

A love a good serum.

When it comes to skincare products which should be in your routine, there are a lot of items to choose from but one that is a necessity?  A serum!

Depending on what your skincare concerns are, there is a serum for just about anything. I usually rotate through three or four of them and I have ones for day and for night.

If you are on the hunt for a new serum to add to your collection, then don’t worry, I got you. Just keep reading…

Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum

Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum

I love Glow Recipe’s Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask, so when they dropped a new serum in their avocado line, I was ecstatic to try it out.

The Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum (C$56),  which is a serum made of avocado and ceramics to help reduce the look of redness and irritation, as well as loss of firmness and elasticity.

This serum contains avocado butter and extract to soothe and nourish skin, ceramide 5 to reduce redness, and allantoin to soothe and calm skin.

If you suffer from redness, blemishes, dehydrated skin, or wrinkles, then you’ll probably like this serum.  It has a jelly-like texture, similar to their other serums so it’s nice and cooling on application.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum

CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum

I chatted a couple of weeks ago about the importance of incorporating Vitamin C into your skincare routine.  Incorporating a Vitamin C into your morning skincare routine will help to visibly brighten and even out the look of your skin for a more fresh and glowing appearance. It also helps to prevent damage against environmental aggressors and pollution.

If you are looking for an affordable Vitamin C serum, then CeraVe has you covered.  The CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum (C$29.99) has 10 per cent pure Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid).  L-ascorbic acid is the purest form of Vitamin C and is the one that is the most effective for the skin. When applied on the skin it helps to neutralize free radicals, which often lead to signs of premature skin aging.

This serum, when applied daily, can help to brighten the complexion and promote a more even skin tone.  It also contains three essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and Vitamin B5 to help improve texture, rest the skin’s protective barrier, and enhance hydration for soft, glowing, and healthy-looking skin.

Suitable for all skin types, this serum is a great and affordable way to incorporate Vitamin C into your routine.

Guerlain beille Royale Eye R Serum

Guerlain Abeille Royale Eye R Serum

I love the Guerlain Abeille Royale line, which is on constant rotation in my nighttime skincare routine.  I currently have the Anti-Aging Fortifying Lotion Toner, the Anti-Aging Double R Facial Serum, and the Youth Watery Anti-Aging Oil and love using this trio to keep my skin looking young and vibrant.

New to the Abeille Royale line is the Eye R Serum (C$155), which is an anti-aging eye serum that is designed to minimize wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles around the eyes.  The formula contains Black Bee Repair Technology, which supports the skin’s natural revitalization process, as well as naturally derived tensing polymers, which allow for a more visible lifting effect, and their exclusive anti-fatigue complex, which combines three plant extracts with naturally derived micro-nacres for a more radiant complexion.

This eye serum also has an innovative applicator, which features a cooling head to calm the skin, as well as deliver a precise dose of the product. The gold drop applicator has been designed to give a 360-degree massage application so the product is worked into the skin to perfection.

Finally, this eye serum is made with 94 per cent naturally derived ingredients, so although it’s not 100 per cent clean beauty, it’s pretty darn close.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Eye R Serum, CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum, and Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum

Later on this week I’ll be sharing more new skincare products that have come out recently.  There are so many products that are released every month that sometimes it can be tough to keep up, but regardless of what you use and what brand you use, adding a serum into your routine is a definite must.

Which serums do you use in your skincare routine?

Tropic vibes: Bath & Body Works releases tropical collection

What I would give to be whisked away to a beach right now…

I swear, if you are a reader of my blog and live near a beach, you are the luckiest person in the world.  If you’re like me and live smack dab in the middle of Canada and very far away from anything and everything tropical, then you’ll know the struggle of wishing you were somewhere warm with a pina colada in hand and listening to the waves hit the shores….

Okay, so if you are in the same boat as me then don’t worry, Bath & Body Works Canada has released the most dreamy collection and it’s just what I needed right now.

Bath & Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut and tropical collection

First off to set the mood, you need to pick up with Waikiki Beach Coconut Three-Wick Candle, which will transport you to the beach (mentally, that is). This candle has notes of tropical white coconut, saltwater breeze, sun-bleached woods with essential oils and it smells like an absolute dream.

The candle comes housed in a neon pink container (seriously, everything about this candle is goals) and is the perfect scent to pick up for your home this season.  I think it just might be my new fave BBW candle since it smells so delicious and just amps me up for summer 2021.

Speaking of scent, if you want to carry around a little beach whenever you go, then you need to pick up the Waikiki Beach Coconut Fine Fragrance. This fragrance is the same scent as the candle, which, trust me, once you smell the candle, you’ll want to wear this everywhere you go.

Bath & Body Works Waikiki body spray and Belize body lotion

I love the BBW fine fragrances since they are very soft but still bask you in fragrance. These sprays are a conditioning aloe mist with essential oils, so not only do you get to smell amazing, but they also condition the skin.

Moving onto body cream, another new scent is Belize, which is a blend of banana daiquiri, pineapple, and golden sands. Wear the scent as part of their Belize Tropical Cabana Ultra Shea Body Cream, which is a shea and cocoa butter moisturizer with aloe and essential oils to hydrate the skin for 24 hours. This cream is not only incredibly fragrant and delicious but also sinks into skin and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy.

Another new scent is Bahamas Passionfruit & Banana Flower, which I got in their shower gel.  This shower gel is a blend of passionfruit, pineapple leaves, and banana flowers and has that same tropical, island life vibe as the rest of the collection.

This shower gel not only smells amazing but also has vitamin E, aloe, and essential oils to nourish the skin.  It also lathers up really nicely and is non-drying.

Bath & Body Works Bahamas Body Lotion and Island Margarita hand soap

Finally, this wouldn’t be a Bath & Body Works post without mentioning one of their iconic hand soaps.  I love the foaming hand soap and always try to have these stocked in my bathroom so I’m never left without one. The scent of the season is definitely Island Margarita, which I have in their gentle foaming hand soap.

This scent is a blend of freshly squeezed line and sea salt and their gentle foaming hand soap has natural essential oils in it, as well as vitamin E and shea extract and aloe to leave hands nice and soft. This soap lathers up and removes germs while maintaining the skin’s natural moisture barrier. These are a must have since washing your hands has never been more important.

Bath & Body Works has these scents in pretty much all of their items, so if you love one in particular you can purchase the whole line and literally bathe yourself in it from the start of your day to the end. I love tropical fragrances in general, so when I got this collection in it not only made my heart sing, but it was just the mental vacay I needed right about now.

Have you picked up any items from Bath & Body Works’ Tropical Paradise collection?

Glow time: Pixi Beauty Glycolic body line

‘Tis the season for showing some skin!

Now that it’s officially April and the weather is pretty much in the teens everyday, I am starting to get amped up about tanning and wearing all my cute spring and summer clothes.

With warmer weather comes showing more skin, which means that I’ve been prepping my skin to be in tip-top shape. Now I have pretty clear and smooth skin to begin with, but if you have issues with acne on your skin or blemishes or bumps, then Pixi Beauty’s Glycolic skin line might be the thing for you.

Pixi Beauty Glycolic Body Wash

This line is comprised of three products, a body wash, a body polish, and a body lotion.  Starting first with the Glycolic Body Wash ($18 USD), this body wash contains glycolic acid to exfoliate and brighten, as well as aloe vera to soothe and hydrate, and ginseng to improve circulation and energize.

This body wash is hydrating on the skin, so not only will it it clean your skin, but also keep it hydrated and soft.

Pixi Beauty Glycolic Body Peel

If you want something a little more intensive, then take a look at their Glycolic Body Peel ($24 USD). This body peel acts like an exfoliator and the glycolic and lactic acids polish and slough away dry and dull skin, leaving you feeling silky and soft.

Use this body peel with the body wash at least once a week in the shower or bath for glowing and soft skin.

Finally, to complete the trifecta, finish off with the Glycolic Body Lotion ($24 USD), which is aimed to improve the tone and texture of your skin over time.  This lotion contains a blend of aloe, grape seed oil, and ginseng to hydrate skin and restore and maintain optimum moisture levels.

Pixi Beauty Glycolic Body Lotion

This lotion feels very lightweight and absorbs into the skin nicely and quickly so you’re not left with a tacky or greasy feeling. It also has a pleasant scent to it which is very uplifting when applied on the skin.

When used together, these three products are great for delivering smooth, hydrated, and healthy-looking skin. I think these would be amazing to use this spring and summer to gain a more glowing and healthy appearance.

Have you tried out Pixi Beauty’s Glycolic body line?
