Although I’ve tried so many concealers through the year, a notable one that will always stand out to me is YSL’s Touche Eclat.
Okay, so technically Touche Eclat isn’t a concealer, but a face highlighter, but I’ve always used it to brighten and conceal my under eye area. I actually haven’t purchased this product in years (probably since I first started blogging), but it’s forever one of those iconic cult beauty products that has stood out to me as being a phenomenal product.
Anyways, the thing that makes Touche Eclat stand out is definitely the packaging of the product. The item is applied through a pen that you twist at the bottom to dispense the product through the brush tip. There are many other concealers and highlighters that have also used this packaging, including Charlotte Tilbury’s The Retoucher.
I’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury’s other concealer for a while now, the Magic Away Concealer, which also features a similar packaging, although instead of a brush at the tip it’s a cushion applicator. The Retoucher (C$48), available in seven shades, this concealer is designed to cover up any flaws or imperfections in the under-eye area, as well as colour correct.
The formula is very hydrating and is designed to plump up the skin while keeping it moisturized. It also includes black tea derivatives, which is rich in vitamins, to help fill in any grooves and smooth out the surface. It also has special elastomer pearls which help to create smooth and flawless skin.
If you’re looking to invest in one of Charlotte Tilbury’s concealers, the main differences between this one and the Magic Away Concealer is this one is a little lighter and is more designed to colour collect and create a flawless complexion. If you have dark circles and major flaws that you want to cover up, then I would go for the Magic Away concealer instead. I have pretty good skin with no major concerns, so I find that The Retoucher is perfect for me since it brightens up the area, colour corrects, and hydrates the under-eye area,
I like this concealer since it’s an easy-to-wear formula and is perfect for my skin and the needs I have. As you can tell in the swatches, there isn’t much of a difference between the left (before) and the right (after). This concealer is also great to toss in your bag and have on hand for touch ups as well (hence the name).
Have you tried any of Charlotte Tilbury’s concealers?

You guys know I’m obsessed with everything and anything Fenty Beauty.
There’s very few beauty brands that I every time I try a new product it blows me out of the water. Seriously, every single thing from Fenty Beauty I have loved.
So their newest product? Eyeshadow palettes!
The brand already had a couple different palettes to choose from, but considering how many items their arsenal includes right now, it was surprising that they didn’t put more thought into eyeshadows…. until now.
Released a couple months back, the Snap Shadows (C$33, but save money when you buy two!) palettes are a range of eight different palettes in different colour combinations. They are quite small but open up to pack a mighty punch with six shades in complementary colours and matte and shimmer finishes. The reason they are called Snap Shadows is because two palettes can actually snap together back to back to create a thicker palette.
I received three of these to play around with: 1. True Neutrals, 2. Cool Neutrals, and 8. Pastel Frost. There is also 3. Deep Neutrals, 4. Rose, 5. Peach, 6. Smoky, and 7. Cadet. Since they all feature the same white packaging with the Fenty Beauty logo, the easiest way to differentiate them is by the foiled number on the front.
Each palette opens up to complementary shades in the colour range. Being a basic girl, my favourite is definitely True Neutrals, which is filled with creams, champagnes, and browns. I also like Cool Neutrals as well, but those shades play more towards pinks and purples (which is great for blue eyes). Pastel Frost on the other hand is for the more adventurous since it includes more colourful shades like purple, green, yellow, and blue.
I found the formula for these shadows to be very soft and blendable. I really like the colour range and the fact that each palette really does have everything you need for a certain look. I also like how, although there’s only six shades per palette, it features mattes, shimmers, and glitters, making these very versatile.
If you’re having a hard time choosing which shade range to go for, I think 1. True Neutrals is really the best bet for just about anyone. From there, I would choose one of the others and snap it on the back to create your perfect customized palette specifically for your personal preference.
For the perfect eye look, I also recommend picking up their shadow base, the Pro Filt’r Amplifying Eye Primer (C$29), which is the primer I use for just about any shadow look. Apply this to the eyes prior to applying your eyeshadow to make it last longer and more vibrant.
Have you tried Fenty Beauty’s new Snap Shadows?

The one staple in your skincare collection you absolutely need in your life? A moisturizer of course!
I grew up wearing Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, and although I literally have been wearing that for over 10 years, I’m very fortunate to be able to try so many other amazing moisturizers out there right now.
When people ask me what my skincare routine is, it’s tough to say since it’s always rotating. Skincare has definitely been a huge topic in the beauty world and there are so many brands that are making amazing products. Heck, even traditional makeup brands are now getting into the skincare game.
So if you are looking for something new to try out, then keep reading…
Avon and The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Advanced Cica Recovery Cream and Cica Peptide Ampoule
I’ve chatted about Avon and The Face Shop’s amazing collaboration a few times on here and if you’re looking to take in some K-beauty skincare, then I think you’ll really love what they have in store.
Before applying your moisturizer (which we will get to in a second), take a look at the Dr. Belmeur Cica Peptide Ampoule (C$53), which is a serum made for tired skin. This formula helps to protect and heal the skin, as well as revitalize and firm. It contains cica, which is known to relieve irritated skin and strengthen the skin’s barrier, as well as moisturize, in addition to peptides which revitalize and firm skin.
Apply a few drops of this after your toner and before your moisturizer to help wake up tired skin and keep it soft and supple.
Afterwards, go in and apply the Dr. Belmeur Advanced Cica Recovery Cream (C$55), which is perfect for dry and damaged skin.
This moisturizer also includes cica in it, as well as ceramides to form and strengthen the moisture barrier, in addition to panthenol to soothe skin. Apply this moisturizer morning and night to add moisture into the skin, as well as protect it against aging and daily aggressors.
Avon also has this moisturizer available in a Hydro Cream as well, which is a more lightweight formula aimed to calm and cool the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
You guys know my love for Charlotte Tilbury is so real, and although I’ve tried so many of her beauty products, I haven’t really gotten the chance to try her famed moisturizer… until now.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream (C$125) is an award-winning moisturizer that is aimed to lift and smooth out the skin. It’s formulated for dry skin and targets dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, and loss of firmness and elasticity.
The formula in this cream includes hyaluronic acid to moisturize; rosehip oil, camellia oil, and antioxidant vitamin E to hydrate, brighten, and soften skin; and bionymph peptide complex to help support natural collagen and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
In addition to fighting dryness, its other target is to fight visible signs of aging, while still supporting natural collagen production and cell energy. Apply this daily to help natural hydration and elasticity, as well as healthy skin renewal.
Although you can definitely use this for morning and night, Charlotte also offers a night cream to go with this as well.
Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve collection
When I saw the word “lotus” in Fresh’s Lotus Youth Preserve collection, I knew I was going to love it.
This skincare collection uses star ingredient Super Lotus to prevent and address the first signs of aging by boosting radiance, strengthening the skin’s barrier, and protecting it from free radicals. Super Lotus is created from the whole living lotus plant, including the flower, stem, and root, which is then preserved for its active molecules for potency.
This collection includes multiple items, some of which are brand new. The Lotus Youth Preserve Moisturizer (C$63) is a lightweight day cream that is aimed to target the first signs of aging for radiant, resilient, and youthful-looking skin. It is formulated for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin and aimed to help with dullness and uneven texture, as well as fine lines and wrinkles, and puffiness.
This cream is very lightweight and although you can use it at night as well I like to use it for the day since it’s pleasant to apply. It also includes star fruit leaf extract for anti-aging, as well as hyaluronic acid for moisture.
For nighttime, try out the Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream (C$63), which is also a lightweight cream designed for night-time wear. This one is also formulated for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin, and in addition to the Super Lotus, it also includes peach leaf extract to help skin look and feel refreshed and de-stressed as you sleep. Apply it before bed and wake up looking more rejuvenated in the morning.
Finally, for the eyes, try out the Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Cream (C$59), which is a lightweight eye cream that is aimed to depuff and smooth out the eye area for a more radiant, resilient, and youthful look.
Apply this before your moisturizer morning and night to help address the first signs of aging. It helps to strengthen the eye area and minimize the appearance of puffiness. It also contains horse chestnut flower extract, which targets and smooths the look of fine lines.
Fresh also has a number of other products in their Lotus collection, so if you are looking to really invest in the set, you may want to look into those as well.
Like I said, I constantly get new skincare items in every week, so I know how tough it is to narrow down what you may need for your individual skincare concerns. I think you’ll really love any of these moisturizers and if you give them a try, I would love to know your thoughts!
What’s your favourite moisturizer?
