Fresh and glowy: Skincare products you need to try this June

I love trying out new skincare products.

Although I have a pretty set routine, I’m always down to rotate out items and incorporate new products that I haven’t tried before.

Your skin is always changing, and as we get older, it becomes more and more important to have a good routine that will keep you looking young. I recently got in a few new goodies which has been making the rotation through my routine this month.

Glow Recipe Glow Essentials Kit by Mikayla

Glow Recipe Glow Essentials Kit by Mikayla

If you have always wanted to try some of Glow Recipe’s most iconic serums, then you’ll love the Glow Essentials Kit by Mikayla (C$63).

This kit, which came out earlier this year, is curated by @mikaylanogueira, a TikTok beauty guru. This kit includes a full-size in the Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops, which visibly brighten and reduce hyperpigmentation, as well as minis of the Avocado Ceramide Redness Relief Serum and the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer.

These serums work to hydrate, brighten, and soothe skin and really give you a nice roundup of the brand’s most iconic products. I have tried all three of them and have liked them. The Watermelon Glow serum went viral on TikTok and does an abundance of things to give you perfect, plump, smooth, and hydrated skin.

I didn’t know who Mikayla was prior to this set but I think this is great value since the Watermelon Glow drops retail for C$45 alone, so for $18 more you can get two deluxe sizes of their other serums.

Glow Recipe Strawberry Smooth BHA + AHA Salicylic Acid Serum

Glow Recipe Strawberry Smooth BHA + AHA Salicylic Acid Serum

Speaking of Glow Recipe serums, they also introduced a brand new one earlier this year.

The Glow Recipe Strawberry Smooth BHA + AHA Salicylic Acid Serum (C$53) is a soothing serum which contains AHA and BHA acids to gently smooth skin and visibly refine pores for clearer and hydrated skin.

If you suffer from blemishes, uneven skin tone, large pores, or acne then this is for you. This lightweight serum contains a clarity acid complex to visibly diminish pore buildup, which order causes blemishes. It also helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, and will smooth the look of bumps and fine lines. Like the name suggests, it also contains strawberry to reduce excess oil, exfoliate, and even out skin tone. Finally, it also has hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin.

As well, like the name suggests, this serum also contains two per cent salicylic acid and one per cent mandelic acid to clarify, decongest, soothe, and prevent blemishes. With regular use, this serum should help with fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce pore size.

I really love the fact that they came out with this serum since I feel like it’s a little more heavy duty than their other ones. I like their other ones as well but since I’m in my 30s I do look for something that can help me with skin issues as I’m aging, which I feel like this one really fits the bill.

Tula Eye Recharge + Replenish Pro-Ferm Overnight Complex

Tula Eye Recharge + Replenish Pro-Ferm Overnight Complex

You guys know I love Tula products and I have been using their eye creams for years now. When it comes to Tula’s eye creams, they have mostly been in a stick formula, which I feel like it great for daytime use, but would often use something more heavy-duty for nighttime use. Well finally Tula has introduced a product that will help to nourish eyes while you sleep.

The Tula Eye Recharge + Replenish Pro-Ferm Overnight Complex (C$73) is an eye treatment mask that work overnight to combat the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This eye cream, which comes in a pump dispenser, is an intensely hydrating cream that nourishes the delicate eye area while you’re sleeping.

The formula contains bakuchiol and eye-firming peptides to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as crow’s feet. Bakuchiol is a botanical retinol alternative and it helps to give you younger-looking skin. It will also help with reducing the look of dark circles and puffiness. It also contains a Pro-Ferm complex, which is a combination of polyglutamic acid, evening primrose, fermented green tea seed oil, and ceramides to hydrate and nourish. Finally, it has chamomile and green tea to soothe skin, as well as the brand’s S6Pro Complex, which is a blend of six prebiotics and probiotic extracts that will help improve skin smoothness and maintain skin balance.

If you are a fan of Tula’s eye creams already, then I think you’ll really love this one. Like I said, I like to use the Rose Glow & Get It during the day and then slather this on at night for the most luxurious and awakening eye treatment.

I am also happy to share that Tula is now available in Canada at Sephora Canada, as well as on a dedicated Canadian Tula site. If you want to score a discount on this product, use code SHAYNA at checkout at tulaskincare.ca for 15% off your order.

UBeauty The Barrier Bioactive Treatment

UBeauty The Barrier Bioactive Treatment

One of my new favourite luxe skincare brands in UBeauty. I actually discovered it earlier this year and have really enjoyed using their products ever since.

One of their newer releases is the Barrier Bioactive Treatment (C$260), which is a nighttime moisturizer that optimizes normal skin renewal for visibly softer and stronger skin that has more vibrancy and resilience.

This treatment contains highly concentrated bioactive marine ingredients to give you more enhanced skin in an expedited way. Apply it at night as the last step in your skincare routine and wake up with visibly smother, healthier, and revived skin.

The formula contains urea, which hydrates and exfoliates skin to give it better elasticity; Vitamin B6 to soften and nourish; sodium DNA to minimize the appearance of wrinkles; shea butter, hyaluronic acid, purified oat extract, and fruit hydroxy acids to defend skin against water loss and for moisture; salicylic acid to exfoliate, and more.

When I was home in Winnipeg (I’m currently in Montreal for the summer), I was using this at night as my nighttime moisturizer and have been really enjoying it. Ubeauty is a more expensive brand but I do find it works very well and it’s nice luxe treat for your skin.

Thayer’s pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash with Aloe Vera

Thayer’s pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash with Aloe Vera

I’m always on the hunt for a new affordable cleanser and toner and Thayer’s is the best brand to fit the bill.

New from Thayer’s is the pH Balancing Gentle Face Wash with Aloe Vera (C$16.97), which helps to visibly improve the quality of skin and balance skin’s pH levels while also cleansing it.

This face wash is great to use morning and night and will keep skin clean and moisturized, as well as visibly increase skin texture to make it look smoother and more toned.

The formula includes five per cent filet of aloe vera and sodium hyaluronate, which gives it a jellylike texture that lathers into a mild, foaming cleanser. It also contains 96 per cent natural origin ingredients.

When it comes to your skincare I would choose a more affordable cleanser and toner and then splurge on other items like serums and creams. This one is great for everyday use and will leave your skin looking amazing and feeling clean.

Thayer’s Petal Facial Toner

Finally, follow up the cleanser with the Thayer’s Petal Facial Toner (C$16.29), which is an alcohol-free, gentle, and non-drying toner that works to hydrate skin all day, as well as leave it feeling purified, balanced, and renewed.

This toner will visibly improve the quality of skin with regular use, leaving it looking glowing, moisturized, and healthy. Texture will also look smoother and you’ll notice smaller pores and a more even skin tone.

This toner is one of their most iconic products and it also comes in a variety of other “flavours”. This particular formula also uses rose water, as well as their blend of aloe vera and non-distilled witch hazel, which is specifically grown for this brand. Use it day and night for the best results.

There are so many awesome and new products to try this summer and brands are constantly coming out with new items that promise big things. Let me know what some of your most want to try products are!
