Clean + cleansed: Three cleansers to try out this summer

So a skincare must? Definitely a cleanser.

There is nothing like washing your face in the morning and at night and your skincare routine should start with a cleanser.  Using one of these products help to remove any makeup, dirt, oily, pollution, etc. from your skin, prepping it for the rest of your routine.

So I always say on here that you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on a good cleanser as there are so many different ones out there and when it comes to skincare, it’s a pretty basic product. You don’t need to go fancy or look for any special bells and whistles.  Most of them do the trick.  With that being said, I do have a few favourites in my collection, some of which are a little more expensive, but regardless they all pretty much do the same job.

Now if you are on the hunt for a new cleanser but want some recommendations first, then keep reading.

Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

When it comes to cleansers you can get at Sephora, the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser is definitely the most iconic.

The Soy Fresh Face Cleanser (C$58) is a pH-balancing face wash that contains amino acid-rich soy proteins that help to melt away makeup and the look of impurities for more toned skin.

Perfect for all skin types, this helps with dry, dull and uneven texture.  The lightweight gel gently removes any dirt, oil, makeup, you name it, on the skin so you are left feeling soft and hydrated.  The formula also contains calming cucumber extract to soothe the skin, as well as rosewater to calm and balance.

Fresh has this cleanser available in a variety of sizes and price points so you don’t have to break the bank to pick it up. I recommend their limited-edition 200 ml size since it will last you for a few months (I would say anywhere from three to four months!).

Tula Purifying Cleanser

Tula Purifying Cleanser

Another favourite of mine is the Tula Purifying Face Cleanser (which I’ve also got all my friends hooked on – it’s that good!)

Tula’s Purifying Cleanser (C$35) is a refreshing probiotic cleanser that cleans your skin deep into the pores to remove impurities and condition skin.  It’s perfect for all skin types and I love using it with my FOREO Luna or Clarisonic for an even deeper clean.

The star ingredients in this cleanser are lactic acid to naturally clean and exfoliate the skin; chicory root, which is a natural anti-inflammatory prebiotic to help boost the appearance of firmer skin; turmeric root, which helps reduce the signs of inflammation; blueberries, which help protect skin from free-radical attacks; and probiotics to hydrate and lock in moisture.

I talk about Tula a lot on here and this is definitely one of the products that you should pick up from the brand. There’s a reason they call it a cult classic; it’s really that good! If you are interested in picking it up, or any Tula product, use code SHAYNA for 15% off your order!

CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam cleanser

CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser

If you are looking for an amazing drugstore cleanser – or just a great cleanser in general – then take a look at CeraVe.

CeraVe is known for their cleansers and I’ve also chatted a lot about them on here. I know so many people who use this cleanser and it’s often sold out at the drugstore.  There are a few formulas out there but the one I really love is the new Hydrating Cream-to-Foam cleanser for normal to dry skin.

The Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser (C$19.99) joined their their lineup of existing cleansers earlier this year and it’s aimed at normal to dry skin and is perfect for removing makeup and cleansing your skin. This cleanser starts off as a cream formula and then works it way into a foaming cleanser to gently and effectively remove makeup, dirt, and oil, all while cleaning your skin.

The formula is effective and gentle and contains the brands three essential ceramides to restore the protective skin barrier, as well as MVE delivery technology, which is control released for all-day hydration.  The cleanser also has amino acids and hyaluronic acid to hold water on the skin.

CeraVe has a ton of other cleansers available if you have different skincare concerns. Make sure to check them out in the drugstore aisle to find the best one for you.

These are just some of the many cleansers I have used over the years.  When it comes to skincare you should definitely try to invest your money in a good serum, eye cream, and moisturizer, your cleanser isn’t the most important in terms of where you should be spending your money. All of these are relatively affordable and will do a great job of cleansing your skin.
