Clean + affordable: Trying out Versed skincare
I love trying out new skincare products.
Obviously when it comes to skincare, I often reach for things I know and love, but I really enjoy seeing new brands on social and learning about products that are new to me.
I feel like over the past few years there has been so many new indie brands released and a lot of them are super affordable and offer up great ingredients. One of these brands is Versed, which is a drugstore brand that is cruelty-free, non-toxic, and vegan. They make high-quality products without the high prices and none of the frilly stuff that a lot of the bigger brands do either. Their packaging uses 92 per cent recycled materials and up to 97 per cent less material than traditional designs.
The brand recently sent over some products to try out and the selection of items is right up my alley.
First up is the On the Rise Firming Serum (C$26.99), which is a serum designed to turn back the clock on aging and firm up skin. It contains peptides and vitamin C for collagen boosting, brightening, and to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains resveratrol, which is a powerful anti-aging antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals.
This serum is great to apply morning and night and helps with firming skin and boosting elasticity. It’s also very lightweight and pleasant to apply.
If you suffer from breakouts, then take a look at their Just Breathe Clarifying Serum (C$26.99), which is designed to clear acne and manage excess sebum (which clogs pores). This serum contains willow bark extract, niacinamide, and a zinc blend which works together to calm inflammation, decongest pores, and soothe redness.
Apply this morning and night to help calm stressed-out skin.
When it comes to my routine, I like to rotate in a retinol product a few times a week and thankfully Versed has their own version. The Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum (C$21.99) is great for those with sensitive skin or first-time retinol users. It is a duo of micro-encapsulated retinol, which sends the active ingredient deep into the skin without irritating it. It also has a number of natural retinol alternatives, such as bakuchiol, which their version is CITES certified, meaning it doesn’t negatively impact the plant species’ survival.
The formula also includes antioxidants and anti-inflammatories and is non-irritating. It also helps to soften lines and wrinkles. Since this is more gentle than other retinols out there, you can use it every night but I would recommend easing into it slowly to get your skin used to the product.
Finally, for those long summer nights ahead of us, take a look at their Vacation Eyes Brightening Eye Gel (C$23.99), which is a lightweight eye gel that is cooling on contact and instantly wakes up the eye area. This eye cream is great for dark circles since it contains vitamin C, ginseng root extract, and niacinamide to brighten the skin. It also has coffee seed extract for circulation.
Apply this morning and night for instantly refreshed eyes.
There are so many other products in the Versed line. In Canada you can find them at Shopper’s Drug Mart, so they are pretty easy to pick up and find.
