Bright eyes: A wearable night-out look
Last weekend was a busy one!
My birthday was yesterday and since it fell on a Tuesday (whomp, whomp…) that meant the weekend was filled with festivities. I’m not a fan of wasting makeup so I love when I get the chance to go out, solely based on the fact that I can use all my makeup and not let it go to waste.
This is the look I was wearing Friday night when my boyfriend took me to dinner. I didn’t want to go too glam so I kept it soft on the eyes with a hint of shimmer and a nude lip. I let my skin shine through and added some volume and loose curls to my hair for a sexy laid-back vibe. I recently got eyelash extensions, so I wanted those to stand out as well, therefore I kept it neutral on the lids making my lashes really pop against the slightly darkened crease.
1. Fill in your brows, then apply a champagne cream eyeshadow as an eyeshadow primer. I used Maybelline Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Barely Beige.
2. With Morocco (a matte brick shade) from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture palette, apply this lightly to your crease.
3. Using a crease brush (I use a MAC 216) apply a matte grey (I used MAC Black Factor from the MAC Smoky Metallic x9 palette) to your crease. Make sure you don’t go too heavy with this.
4. Spray a setting spray on a dense shadow brush, then apply a shimmery champagne colour to your lids. I used MAC Give Me Fire.
5. Back to the Anastasia palette, I used a combination of Pink Champagne and Chic, both shimmery colours, over top of Give Me Fire to amp up the glitter factor.
6. With a matte black (I used use Noir from the Anastasia palette), apply this gently to your crease and down to your lash line with a pencil brush making sure to smudge it out after.
7. Skip liner and apply mascara (I didn’t due to having lash extensions) and instead apply your foundation. I used Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)able foundation in Beige Medium, but since it was a bit too dark for my complexion at the moment, I added a drop of The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops to bring it up a shade and match my skin tone.
8. With a brown cream shadow, like the Maybelline Tattoo Concentrated Crayon in Creamy Chocolate, apply this to your lower lash line.
9. With an liner brush, gently apply Morocco over top of the brown and then Chic, the shimmery gold into the crease. After, apply a coat of mascara to your lower lashes.
10. To finish up the face, apply your concealer (I used Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer) and then apply your contour, blush, and highlight. For my contour, I first used the Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in Devil’s Food and then blended it out with my Real Technique’s sponge. I went over that with the Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Light. For blush I used Rimmel London Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Live Pink. My highlight is Tarte Moonlight.
For the lips, I first lined them with CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Seduce, then I applied Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lip Balm in Complex with the Tanya Burr by Eye Candy gloss in Just Peachy over top. I ended up switching the lip colour to MAC Creme de Nude, but in the photos it’s the other combo.
I really like how this look turned out. It’s pretty enough for a night out or even daytime. If you wanted it to be a bit more dramatic, add some glitter or foiled shadow over top of the champagne and pink shadows.
What’s your go-to night out look?
Please note, I was sent these products from PR. All opinions are my own.
