Alexandra Stan’s Lemonade music video inspired look
So I was on the hunt for new music and saw that Alexandra Stan had a new single out. I have been listening to her for a few years now and whenever she releases a new song I usually love it right away (I’m the same way with Inna, another Romanian artist).
Anyways, her new single “Lemonade” shows a more “classier” Stan (not to say she’s trashy or anything), and not only is the song great, but her makeup looks fab too. This look is very wearable if you choose to not apply the lashes and maybe take the exaggerated winged liner down a bit. Regardless, it’s a beautiful look and easy to recreate.
Here’s how to create it:
Like always, start off with a fresh base. I used Garnier’s BB Cream with Bare Minerals Original Foundation over top.
Grabbing a bronzer (I used It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Bronzer) and apply this in the hollows of your cheeks and bring it up to your temples. Stan has a very contoured, bronzed face in the video.
Next up is blush. Grab a tan shade and apply it along your cheek bones. You don’t necessarily want to apply the product on the apple of your cheeks; more along the bone.
Her eyebrows are a lot thinner than mine, but even if you have thicker brows like myself, the point is that they want to look perfect and polished. I used It Cosmetics Brow Power Perfector in Universal Taupe.
After you fill in your brows, grab a highlight and apply it under the arch. I used It Cosmetics Brow Power Lift (the pearl side).
Moving onto the eyes, her eye makeup is very neutral and basic. I often wear the following combo to the office because it’s simple, easy, and quick to do.
For the lid area I applied MAC’s Paint Pot in Bare Study. You can use either a cream product or a powder, but make sure it is a neutral beige colour.
Grabbing a soft brown colour, like Urban Decay’s Buck from the Naked 1 palette, work this into your crease using a fluffy brush. Make sure it is blended well.
Grabbing that same dark brown colour, line your lower lash line, keeping it tight. After, grab either a white eyeliner or a light-coloured eyeshadow and line your waterline with it. I used It Cosmetics Brow Power Lift for my waterline as well. Her lower lashes are very subtle and simple.
Moving onto the hardest part and the step that makes the look – the eyeliner. Stan has a very pronounced winged liner along her upper lash line. Make sure you take you time doing this step!
What I did was just line my eyes along my upper lash line using a liquid eye liner (MAC’s Liquid Eye Liner in black), then going back, from the middle of your eye draw a diagonal line and then connect it from where your liner ends along your lash line. From there, fill it in. It takes some practice to get right, so make sure you have some Q-Tips and eye makeup remover handy just in case.
Once you have the liner down, curl and apply mascara to your lashes. Then, pop on some full falsies. She is obviously wearing fake lashes in the video and a full fringe adds that sex kitten look to the eyes. Make sure that you don’t add mascara to your bottom lashes, keep those very minimal.
Because the main focus is the eyes, the lips are very subtle and neutral, with a hint of gloss. I used Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee with Bailey Fresh Lip Gloss in Berry over top.
And here’s the final look! Like I said earlier, if you tone down the eyeliner a bit and don’t add the lashes this look is perfect for the day time. Recreate it as shown and it would be perfect for a night out.
Let me know if you try this one out!
