For those about to rock… Benefit Rockateur Boxed Blush

four way copy Rock on!

Coming next month, Benefit is releasing a new blush, and guys, it’s rose gold.  Although I can probably just end this post saying it’s rose gold and you have to run to your local Sephora/Shopper’s Drug Mart/wherever else Benefit is sold to grab it, this little ditty, available in September, does not disappoint.

As part of their boxed blush collection, Rockateur comes with a brush and a handy mirror inside the box.  The product is so breathtakingly beautiful as soon as you open it with its gorgeous “rock” lettering laid upon a kaleidoscope of rose gold.

Just like the other Benefit boxed blushes that I have tried, this one also has a scent, like a candy floral one (does that even make sense?).   Don’t be scared because this looks extremely shimmery; once applied it gives you a gorgeous flush.  It also lasted me all day, so it’s a keeper!

When I saw this cat dress at H&M I had to have it.  I’m not much of a dress person, or a cat person for that matter, but those little white faces reminded me of my two American Eskimo dogs Ziggy and Chase.  At only $24.95 USD, I just had to pick up this affordable little number.

Couture lips: Marc Jacobs LOVEMARC Lip Gel in Strange Magic

MJ title

When I heard the news that Marc Jacobs was releasing a makeup line, I was so excited.  Marc is one of my favourite designers, because not only is the creative director for Louis Vuitton, but he also heads up his own lines, Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs, which are both so different from the legendary LV (love MBMJ).

His makeup line launched earlier this month at Sephora stores and some of his own stores and although I really need anything (lawd knows I have enough foundation, powders, eyeshadows, glosses, nail polishes, etc.), but I just had to try a lipstick.  I picked up one of his Lip Gels in Strange Magic, which is a nude pink shade (my fave!).  I bought mine at Sephora in Las Vegas because it retails for $30 USD, whereas in Canada they are C$36.  Either way, they are super pricey for a lipstick.

The LOVEMARC Lip Gels come in 16 shades and are full of pure pigment.

From Sephora:

Unlike traditional waxy lipsticks, Lovemarc’s cutting-edge, gellified formula delivers the utmost in creaminess, comfort, and color payoff. An infusion of monoi butter—a velvety cream made from the tropical tiare flower—provides intense hydration, while myrrh extract works to reduce the signs of aging, and an innovative 3D plumping agent adds gentle volume. The vivid shades are all inspired by Marc’s favorite movies.

The lipstick comes in a sleek black case with his logo, as well as a silver dot that acts as a magnetic closure. To be honest, the whole packaging reminds me of a lighter.  There is a slight scent to it, reminiscent of vanilla, but not as strong as MAC lipsticks.  I would say this particular colour is buildable, it’s not the most opaque when first applied, but you can work the colour up.  Wearability was a couple hours.

Overall I love this lipstick and think it’s well worth the hefty price tag.  You are paying (and investing) in a designer lipstick, so this is definitely a treat and would make a great gift for any Marc Jacobs fan.

Speaking of Marc Jacobs…. I was in the MBMJ store at the Forum Shops at Caeser’s Palace on Monday and I learned that the man himself, Marc Jacobs was stopping by later that day for a meet and greet.  Not one to miss an opportunity, I came back a few hours later and stood in the small line outside the store.  After two hours of waiting, Marc finally came by, security and PR people in tow (he was apparently in “good spirits” that day), and he went into the store to speak with local press and “VIPs”.  After 10 minutes, we were let in and then, like a couple minutes later he left.  It was actually the world’s worst meet and greet.  Oh well, they did give out goody bags that had a cosmetic case in them, as well as a sample of his Daisy perfume. I also got a video of him walking into the store, and although I was pissed he left so early, it was so cool to actually get to see him.
