Large + luscious: Two new sprays to try from Moroccanoil

When it comes to Moroccanoil’s styling line, their line-up was missing a few key items.

I’ve been using Moroccanoil’s products for years now and use their original argan oil and colour care spray quite regularly. Overall I have found their styling products to work really well and nourish hair, which is key considering how much we put our hair through on a daily basis.

Recently, the line released a few new products, two things they recognized as being missing in their line up, a volumizing mist and an all-in-one leave-in conditioner.

Moroccanoil All-in-One Leave-In Conditioner

First up, the Moroccanoil All-in-One Leave-In Conditioner (C$32) is designed to instantly hydrate and detangle hair, as well as prep it for styling. It is infused with their star product, argan oil, as well as naturally derived superfoods. Spray this lightweight product on damp hair prior to styling to help detangle and product against heat damage and breakage.

The second product is the one I am most excited for, the Volumizing Mist (C$32), which the brand says delivers up to 50 per cent fuller hair with a 72-hour lift.  Of course, this is also infused with their argan oil, as well as Dead Sea salt to help lift the root, while still nourishing the hair. This spray is also very lightweight and will leave hair soft, not crunchy.

Moroccanoil Volumizing Mis

You can find both of these products at Moroccanoil brand salons, as well as in Sephora. I was very excited to get them in my collection since I’m always on the hunt for a leave-in conditioner (especially one that has heat production), as well as a volumizing spray. When it comes to adding volume to the hair, I have a lot of serums and mousses, but not a ton of sprays, so this is a welcome addition to my hair collection.

The only thing I want to note is that both of these products, as well as their other sprays, all come in similar packaging, so it can be a little confusing when reaching for these styling products since you really have to read the labels. Other than that though, I do look forward to incorporating these into my haircare routine, alongside my other fave Moroccanoil products.

Dripping in luxury: Guerlain Abeille Royale Trio

One of the luxury skincare world’s most beloved lines has recently celebrated a milestone anniversary.

I have always wanted to try Guerlain’s products since they are known for being ultra luxurious, so when I got the Zoom invite to one of their newest launches and the best way to apply it, I was instantly jumping with excitement.

The brand is known for their Abielle Royale line, which features the repairing properties of honey and the science behind skin repair mechanisms. This line is designed to combat the signs of aging, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Trio

This line uses the power of honey to help repair the skin and targets the micro-tears behind wrinkles and skin sagging to help turn back the clock. There was about 10 years of research behind this line and they recently released a new product to add to their amazing line up.

The Abeille Royale Anti-Aging Fortifying Lotion (C$90) is a water-like lotion that is designed to balance, support, and protect skin from visible signs of aging, pollution, and stress. It is also designed to reduce skin dehydration by 30 per cent. It is ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin and is a lightweight lotion that you apply after your cleanser.

The formula is made up of their exclusive royal jelly, which was inspired by bees and is rich in nutrients to nurture the skin, as well as a collection of bee products and honey.  It also has ouessant honey, which is rich in amino acids, trace elements, and high in fructose content that helps to revitalize the skin.

I like using this product in replacement of my toner. In asking Guerlain what the difference is between the two products, toners may contain alcohol, whereas this lotion doesn’t, meaning that it won’t dry out your skin or strip it of moisture.

Pair this new lotion with their two oils. Start first with the Youth Watery Anti-Aging Oil (C$129/30 ml), which is a facial oil that works as a serum, an oil, and a toner to visibly smooth, plump and revitalize the skin.

Ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin, this oil targets skincare concerns like loss of firmness and elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles, and dullness and uneven texture. It has similar ingredients to the toner, as well as commiphora oil, which is rich in active molecules that help with skin renewal.

Finally, for the ultimate in luxury, use a few pumps of the Abeille Royale Double R Serum (C$278), which is a treatment to fight the signs of aging.

This unique product features two serums that dispense as one and gives you a lifting effect, as well as amazing skin benefits.  This product is a soft-peel formula that creates the look of new skin by supporting skin’s natural renewal cycle. With regular use your skin should look more radiant and lifted, as well as smoother, smaller pores, and more elastic.

There are a few more products in this line as well, but this trio is what the brand calls their golden skincare trio. When used together these will leave your skin with a radiant lit-from-within glow. The lotion hydrates skin and leaves it supple, the Youth Watery Oil plumps and smoothes, and the Double R Serum lifts and resculpts, leaving you with younger-looking skin.

So should you take the plunge? No doubt, these items are expensive, but when it comes to skincare, I do often find that you need to invest to get good results (although I will say that there are so many amazing drugstore and affordable brands out there right now). The amount of research and the quality of ingredients definitely justify the high price tag and if you can justify it, then the splurge is totally worth it.

Natural-looking beauty: Rodial Skin Tint + SPF 20

One of the things I was most looking forward to when visiting Montreal was the excuse to actually wear makeup again.

I had a full five months worth of dates to catch up on, and considering all the products I get, I was really excited to put them to the test.  My full-coverage makeup definitely got some wear, but the products that I reached for more often were definitely more light-coverage ones.

Maybe it was all the time in the sun or the fact that you have to wear a mask everywhere there (I’m actually just home back to Winnipeg today), but I just didn’t want a full face of makeup. I wanted my skin to breathe, and more than anything, I was just so lazy to wash it all off at the end of the night.

I had my IT Cosmetics CC Cream out here but also realized that I had the Rodial Skin Tint + SPF 20 also kicking around, which I got from a PR company in New York.

Rodial Skin Tint + SPF 20

The Rodial Skin Tint + SPF 20 (C$45) is a medium-coverage tinted moisturizer that is designed to brighten and enhance your skin tone.  I found this to work very similar to the IT Cosmetics version, but more lightweight on the face.

It contains amino peptides to target multiple signs of aging.  Just apply it to your face and watch it blend in wonderfully, leaving you with a light feel and a long wear.  It’s also buildable, meaning that you can customize the experience depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Rodial Skin Tint + SPF 20

This product is available in six shades and I have the shade New York, the second lightest one which I found matched me perfectly (even with a slight tan still).  I apply this with a foundation brush for a radiant finish that really does last all day on the skin.  I really like the amount of coverage this gives me and by the end of my trip, I was reaching for this more than my other true foundations. I liked the way it made my skin look (great coverage and an awesome glow), plus it really does last all day on your skin.

Looking at the before and afters, honestly it looks like I’m wearing a full-coverage foundation, but I just have this product on my skin.  Like I said, I also find it more lightweight than the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, so this would be a great alternative if you aren’t really a makeup person, but are looking for something you can throw on your skin everyday.
