So I talk a lot about keeping your skin nice and nourished. Whether it’s the skin on your face or your body, it’s super important to have proper skincare to not only prevent the effects of aging but also to keep your skin nice and hydrated.
A part of our bodies that often get overlooked are our cuticles. Cuticles are those thin later of skin around the nail bed that help to prevent infection and also keep your nails healthy and strong. They can often get very dry and it’s very important to keep them moisturized, similar to the rest of your body.
Now I’m totally guilty of overlooking my cuticles, even knowing how important it is to hydrate them. With that being said, if only there was a product out there that made me want to actually put in the effort to put something on them… oh wait, there is.
Cutie Oil is a Winnipeg-based cuticle oil company that produces the cutest-looking cuticle oils. The brand was started by a local aesthetician and her worst client, and as you can see by the photos, the branding and packaging are on point.
Cutie Oil is made up of coconut oil, macadamia oil, meadowform oil, jojoba oil, and fragrance. She currently has two scents available, Mia (C$20) and Olivine (C$20). Mia is a mix of passionfruit and tangerine, with mid-notes of pink peony and jasmine. Olivine is sweet vanilla, warm amber, with a hint of sandalwood and blackberry. I love both, but Olivine is definitely more my jam.
The packaging itself comes housed in a clear bottle with a top that twists off to reveal a doe-foot applicator which hugs the natural curves of your nails. They recommend applying this product twice a day. I like to usually apply this in the morning while at work and then in the evening before bed. Sometimes I’ll apply it a third time in the afternoon depending on how dry my hands are feeling. I also like applying a moisturizer right after as well for total hydration on the hands.
These cuticle oils are also vegan and cruelty free and like I already mentioned, come in the most aesthetically pleasing packaging ever.
There are a bunch of different cuticle oils and creams out there on the market, but truthfully, I love a good branding moment and these are definitely it. I have used cuticle oils in the past but often after a week or so, I would totally fall off the bandwagon. I’ve been super motivated to use these since I can already see and feel the difference with the how my cuticles and nails look and feel, plus, the bottles are so cute that I look forward to whipping it out and applying it day and night.
Do you use cuticle oil?

Okay so if you know me, you know I love a good pinky-nude lipstick.
I’ve tried Buxom’s classic White Russian Plumping Lip Cream in the past (a few times, I believe), and have always appreciated and loved the colour since it’s such a classic shade and right up my alley. Anyways, imagine my surprise when I get a box in the mail and open it to a whole collection based off the iconic shade *cue excitement*
Released last month, the Buxom White Russian collection consists of a palette, a highlighter, lipstick, and the Plumping Lip Creme in limited-edition packaging. Every item is based off the classic shade and it’s definitely one of those collections where you kinda need it all since it’s so stunning.
Okay, so starting first with the palette, the White Russian Eye and Cheek Palette (C$51) is a limited-edition primer-infused eye and cheek palette that contains two Wanderlust blushes and six eyeshadows.
This palette comes housed in a beautiful packaging which is kind of similar to the Huda Beauty ones in that it features a woman’s eyes on the front. Open it up to reveal two new blushes (New York, a peach; and Moscow, a baby pink), as well as six shadows in matte, satin, and shimmer formulas. The shadows are all neutrals so it’s a good everyday palette since you can either wear a more lighter look or something with more drama.
Pair this palette with their Wanderlust Glow Highlighter (C$31) in the shade White Russian. This highlighter is a universally flattering pink champagne colour and is silky smooth to apply. You can use it on your cheekbones, on your nose, the inner corners of your eyes, your brow bone… really anywhere you want a little shimmer.
I wouldn’t say this gives you an out-of-this-world glow like other highlights give, but it is a really nice finish and perfect for everyday wear. I would layer this over a cream highlight if it was a night out, but overall, this is just a stunning shade and really does go with every skin tone so it’s a good product to have on hand.
Next up is the Full Force Plumping Lipstick in White Russian (C$25), which comes in exclusive packaging. This lipstick is uber-creamy and features a lips motif embossed on the bullet itself.
I did find the colour to come off more like a baby pink on me, rather than a nude pink, but regardless, it’s a really stunning colour when applied. You only need one coat since it goes on pretty opaque. The formula has the brand’s signature complex which visibly plumps up lips and nourishes them thanks to avocado oil, soothing jojoba esters, and antioxidant-rich olive oil. It does have a slight tingling effect, but that’s the plumper going to work.
Finally, pair the lipstick with their iconic Full-On Plumping Lip Cream in, you guessed it, White Russian (C$27)! This lip gloss features a shimmer-free formula that has visibly plumping peptides, as well as conditioning vitamins and hyaluronic spheres to fill in and smooth out the lips. This particular version also comes housed in a limited-edition rose gold packaging.
The duo of the lipstick and lip cream is so pretty and I can’t wait for a mask-less day to wear this combo.
I really love this combo and think it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. I actually did a little GRWM look using all these items earlier this week on Instagram, so head on over there to check out the Reel!
Have you picked up anything from Buxom’s White Russian collection?

It’s been a while since I’ve done a nail post on here.
For the last year my focus in terms of my nails were to grow them longer and stronger. Since I live in a place with dry weather, my nails tend to break and chip a lot. Starting on New Years 2020 I actually have been getting gel manicures and that’s really the only thing that has helped my nails really grow.
Where I live now, unfortunately nail salons are closed again and since my gel manicure was really grown out, I felt like now was the time to take it off and just hope for the best. Thankfully, Revlon sent along a few shades from their newest nail polish collection, which came just in time since I was actually able to swatch these.
The Revlon Ultra HD Snap! nail polish (C$7.49) is brand new and started rolling out last month in drugstores. This collection is different from other polishes out there since it’s a clean, 100 per cent vegan formula which is gentle on the nails. The brand says that this is a one-coat application, meaning it will give you opaque colour in one coat, and it’s also a fast-drying formula.
The formula also includes shea butter, hexane, and green botanicals to nourish the nails, which I really love since nail health is very important to me. I also love the fact that this is a clean and vegan formula and it also doesn’t have any of those chemicals that can be hazardous and which are often found in other nail enamels.
Revlon sent me six shades to try and the first thing that struck me were the bottles themselves. These come in an ergonomic bottle with the brush being a little thicker and flatter, making it super easy to apply the polish. In fact these were designed to make it easy for both hands to apply the polish. We all have a hand that is stronger than the other in terms of painting on your nail polish, so I loved this little tidbit.
Revlon also says that you don’t need to apply a base or top coat, which is also a nice thing, although I do like adding a topcoat just to make the colour last longer, but I do like the fact that if I’m in a pinch, I don’t need to add one.
Revlon released a ton of shades in this collection, so there really is a colour for everyone in here. I do like the range they sent me and did find that the colour applied really nice with one coat, although for some of them I did prefer to do two, but I definitely could have made just one work. As for the dry time, these do dry quickly, however, I still would be careful with your hands as you don’t want to squish or dent the colour.
Overall, I’m really happy with these polishes and more than anything, I love the fact that this has a clean and vegan formula. We paint our nails a lot, especially with a normal polish which tends to chip easily, so therefore having a clean formula is nice since it’s so gentle on the nails and won’t ruin them over time.
Keep a lookout for these polishes in your favourite drugstore. I couldn’t find them on the Revlon site just yet, but I have seen them on various retailer’s websites. They released a really beautiful shade range, so there is a colour for just about any mood you could be in.
Will you try Revlon’s new nail polishes?
