Sweet like candy: Dior 5 Couleurs Lolli’ Glow Limited Edition eyeshadow palettes

Looking to add a little luxury to your eyeshadow collection?

I blogged about some new highlighters and bronzers last week from Dior and to complete the look you may want to pair one of their new Lolli’Glow eyeshadow palettes to the mix as well.

Available in two shades, the Dior 5 Couleurs Lolli’ Glow Limited Edition eyeshadow palettes (C$74) are the perfect chance to add some spring pastels into your makeup collection. Each palette comes with a luxurious velvet pouch and opens up to five complementary shades in pastel colours with a candy stick motif embossed into the shadows.

Mellow Shade is a more blue- and yellow-toned palette with a blend of lemon, pistachio, and peach, whereas Sugar Shade is a chocolate/strawberry duo with an icy blue mixed in. Between the two I do prefer Sugar Shade more since I typically gravitate more towards pinks, but if you have brown eyes I think that Mellow Shade would look absolutely stunning on (I did like this one too, but if I had to choose one, I would pick Sugar Shade).

Since there are five colours in here, it’s easy to create a variety of different looks. For the most part, when I took the photos below, I used all the shades except one. I like the variety that Dior gives you and love the pastels since it’s so appropriate for both spring and summer.

As for pigmentation, I will note that these are not my favourite shadows. I have eyeshadow palettes that apply much more pigmented than these, but if you are going for a more subtle look or if you don’t typically wear a lot of makeup and like something lighter, then these are definitely for you.

Since these are Dior, you can find them at Hudson’s Bay, Nordstrom, Shopper’s Beauty Boutique, and Holt Renfrew here in Canada. In terms of eyeshadow palettes, I would probably skip these since they are so pricey and the pigmentation of the shadow wasn’t my favourite. If you are a luxury beauty lover though and go nuts for Dior Beauty items, then I would look into adding these into your collection, they really are both beautiful.

While you’re at it, you may want to look into pairing the shadows with one of their liquid eyeliners as well.

The DiorShow On Stage Liquid Eyeliner (C$35) is available in a plethora of different shades and is a waterproof eyeliner that offers up to 24 hours of wear. The liner has a hybrid tip that meshes together a felt-tip pen with the suppleness of a brush. It’s stiff enough to give you a precise line, but flexible enough to really paint the colour on nicely.

I received this in Matte Pastel Orange and although I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards an orange eyeliner its more of a pink creamsicle shade. When it comes to coloured liners, I love to layer them on top of my usual black or brown, but for the purposes of this review, I actually just used it on it’s own and paired with some black mascara, this makes your eyes really pop.

These liners are available in three finishes, vinyl, matter, and pearl, and really do last a long time on the lids. I would love to try this in black one day to really get some good wear out of it, but the matte pastel orange is definitely a unique colour in my collection and I’ll be rocking it with some cute looks multiple times this summer.

As you can see in the above photo, the colour is super subtle and adds just enough pop to really make the look stand out. It’s something that is unique and different and I’m kinda digging it this season.

I am loving all the pastel shades that Dior has recently come out with in their beauty line and it’s totally inspiring me to fully take advantage of getting out and enjoying this nice weather. All I need is a pretty floral dress and a straw purse and I’m all set!

Summer tint: Avon Magix Brightening Tinted Moisturizer

Summertime. Hot weather, lots of sun, pool time, beach time and everything in between. Typically for summer I’ll tend to go easy on the makeup since heat means sweat, and having makeup run down your face is not a cute look.

Typically if I’m heading to the pool or beach (or going into the office and am having a lazy day), I’ll just reach for a CC cream, BB cream, or a tinted moisturizer. Although all three are different, they all pretty much work the same way in that they provide skincare benefits to your skin while also providing a little bit of coverage.

Avon Magix Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturizer

New to the table is the Avon Magix Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturizer (C$15), which is available in six different shades and gives you some coverage while also hydrating your skin. Avon sent over two shades for me to try out, Light and Medium, and this stuff gives your skin sheer coverage while leaving you with a radiant finish.

I’ve used this product a few times in both shades and first off I have to note that both Light and Medium are actually darker than what i expected. The Medium shade works for my tanned skin and Light works for a subtle tan. If I were to just wear this with my normal pale skin, both of these would be way too dark for my natural complexion.

 Avon True Color Illuminating Stick

Luckily though I’ve been sporting a tan, so these have been working perfectly. This product doesn’t contain an SPF so I recommend putting a sunscreen underneath or using a makeup setting spray with SPF or a powder SPF product (check out this post for recommendations!). In addition to giving you a little coverage, the formula also hydrates and delivers advanced skin care benefits thanks to botanical extracts such as passion fruit and chia and sunflower seeds. It also softens imperfections and the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

For an extra bit of radiance I would pair this with the Avon True Color Illuminating Stick (C$14), which is a cream-to-powder formula that adds a highlight to your face.  Available in two shades, rose gold and champagne, this highlight is perfect to add a little more luminosity to your look and best of all, the formula contains coconut oil and butters to help pack in more moisture.

Although you get a pretty moderate amount of coverage from the tinted moisturizer it doesn’t quite give you the same amount as my all-time fave, IT Cosmetics CC Cream, but for $15 it does a pretty good job. If you are looking for something that will give you some coverage, some glow, and hydrate your skin this summer then I would look into this product for sure.

Stuck on you: Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Pomade

Ever since I got my eyebrows microbladed late last year, I have been all about keeping them the perfect shape.

You be wondering, why I would still need to fill them in if they are microbladed, and yes, although I can totally still rock them without the need for additional product, after time, the pigment starts to fade away and they need a little more help to look perfect.  For me personally, that involves just filling in the tops of the brow and the edges so they look nice and symmetrical.

Anyways, I’ve been all about the pencil lately (been loving the BrowLuxe pencil I reviewed about a month back), but recently Maybelline sent over their new TattooStudio Brow Pomades to try out as well.

Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Pomade

I used to be all about the pomade, but since I don’t need a ton of work in the brow department, I’ve found just a little pencil touch up does the trick. With a pencil, it’s more of a subtle effect, whereas with a pomade, the brows stand out a lot more.

Anyways, on to the actual product… The Maybelline TattooStudio Brow Pomade (C$14.99) is a pigmented, creamy, and long-lasting waterproof pomade that sculpts and creates natural-looking eyebrows. Available in eight different shades to suite a variety of different eyebrow tones, this product also comes with a double-ended brush with a spoolie and angled applicator. I do have to note that I did try the brush and if you have an eyebrow brush in your collection, I would go with that instead. The angled part of the brush I found to be too thick to actually apply the product where you wanted it, so I have been using my own brush and found the results to be way more efficient.

I received a number of shades to try out and Medium Brown is the one that suited my brows the best. This pomade goes on so creamy and precise that it definitely looks very natural on, although definitely more noticeable than a pencil.

As for wear, I did find that it lasted a very long time. I did experience some slight smudging during activities, but for the most part it stayed put. Overall, I think that this pomade is a great option if you are looking for a new brow product. I’ve been using this pretty much non-stop since I got it and love how it makes my brows look.  Like I said, I would totally skip the brush that comes with it, but if you already have an angled liner brush, I would try that instead.
