Stuck on you: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks

I love matte liquid lipsticks. If there is a new one on the market, I just need to try it out. I was clued into the new Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks by a co-worker and shortly after I saw some bloggers posting about them on IG.

After seeing some vids of the PR event in Toronto where they took bloggers to SoulCycle to test out the wearability, I knew I had to get my hands on some of these myself. The Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink is a long-wearing matte liquid lipstick that promises up to 16 hours of wear. There are 10 colours to choose from, everything from a nude to a red, to even deep violet and fluorescent purple.  The product is applied via a tapered brush that lets you first line your lips with product then fill them in.

I received three of the colours, Dreamer (baby pink), Voyageur (merlot), and Creator (vibrant lilac purple). Naturally since I love my nudes and baby pinks I tried out Dreamer first. Although I did bring the lip colour with me the whole day I found I didn’t actually have to reapply the colour; it did fade a little, but not enough that I had to avidly reapply.  The real test was with Voyageur since it’s so pigmented.  The morning was great, after my oatmeal breakfast and coffee it didn’t wear off (even a coworker asked what I was wearing). I thought it would for sure wear away during lunch, where I packed a salad with an olive oil-based dressing.  Any sort of oil has the tendency to wipe away makeup. Thankfully though, this lip colour held up. There was some mild fading in the inner part of my lips, but for the most part, the colour still looked vibrant. The colour lasted through the afternoon and even stayed on quite well during an Orange Theory Fitness class (which is incredibly high intensity, over 600 calories burned in an hour). With a bold shade like this one, that’s practically unheard of!

Now I’ve said it before, but I don’t like wearing deeper colours usually since I find them messy to apply. I didn’t use a liner with this and instead opted for just the brush, and the pointed end of it really does make it easy to apply the colour.  The formula is thick and applies opaque off the hop. It dried down nicely and I do find there is some slight tackiness, but not really something you would notice (I did because I was testing it out).

Overall, Maybelline killed it with these. I have my favourite matte liquid lipsticks, but I do find that a lot of brands you need to reapply the colour (Kat Von D). Even the deep one stayed on all day for the most part.

According to Maybelline Canada’s Facebook page, these official launch in stores tomorrow. I highly recommend checking them out!

Will you be picking up any colours of the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink?
