Ambient lights: NARS Afterglow palettes

I’ve had this newfound love with NARS lately.

I’ve always loved NARS in general and if were to ask me what my favourite foundations are, NARS Sheer Glow definitely is at the top of that list.

I feel like in general the brand doesn’t release as many products as their other counterparts, but when they do, they are always so amazing. One of their newer drops is their Afterglow collection, which is made up of two palettes, a variety of lip products, a tinted glow booster and a body glow.

Although I do have a number of items from this collection, including a couple of their Afterglow Lip Balms and the Tinted Glow Booster (which I actually left back in New York), I wanted to focus this post on their two palettes, an eye one and a cheek one.

The Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette (C$78) is a limited-edition palette that houses 12 shadows in mattes, shimmers, and glitters.  Although the palette is stunning when you open it, the outer casing is unique and gorgeous and features a melted chrome finish in a copper hue.

Inside, this palette has warm-toned shades that will be sure to turn up the heat when you pull this out. The shades in here will truly take your breath away and the colours range from creamy nudes to matte browns to shimmery champagnes and copper and gold glitters. Seriously, this palette will literally make you gasp when you open this palette for the first time.

Since NARS is known so well for their blushes (Orgasm, anyone?), you need to get your hands on their Afterglow Overlust Cheek Palette (C$78). This palette features the same casing as the eyeshadow palette and opens up to six different blushes and gel-to-powder highlighters.

All six shades in this palette is brand-new and you’ll find three blushes and three highlighters in here.  The blushes range from a satin soft rose (Let It Burn), a satin nude pink (Get Lost), and a satin dusty mauve (Body Talk), meaning that this palette will suite a variety of skin tones.  The highlighters are a really cool formula and feature their Skinfused Glow Technology, which gives a pearlescent luster that glides effortlessly on skin for a beautiful, glowing finish. The shade range in the highlighters is a shimmering champagne (Tied Up), shimmering golden bronze (Deep Down), and shimmering rose bronze (Drift).

NARS Afterglow cheek palette

Since NARS so well known for their blushes, whenever they release a new cheek palette I pretty much salivate at the thought of getting my hands on it. These colours apply so beautifully and flawlessly that this palette is the only cheek one you’ll need going into the spring and summer season.

As much as I love this palette, I do wish there was a bronzer in here to make it a complete set. With that being said, I have used Body Talk, the mauve shade, for my contour and it definitely works if you are pale like me.

NARS has released a few different palettes lately (more reviews coming soon!), but I have to say that these two are definitely my favourite ones. I absolutely love the shade range that they chose to include in both the eyeshadow and cheek palette and I really think you’ll also love these if you are a fan of NARS.

Have you picked up anything from the NARS Afterglow collection?

Step into spring: Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte lipsticks spring 2020 colours

I’ve always been a fan of Mary Kay’s lipsticks.

I’ve had the chance to review many of their lipstick collections through the years and have always found their Gel Semi-Matte formula (C$21 each) to be comfortable to wear and really pretty and pigmented on the lips. This range gives you beautiful colour and a comforting gel texture that will have you wearing these non-stop since they aren’t drying on the lips.

For spring 2020 the brand has released four new shades that you’ll definitely want to get your hands (and lips!) on.

Included in the line up is Blush Velvet (nude), Berry Famous (berry), Trademark Pink (baby pink), and Red Stiletto (red).  Each shade applies stunning in one swipe and give you the perfect pop of colour to wear throughout the day. They also have a soft-focus effect, meaning that they give you the perfect amount of boldness when applied.

Since these are a traditional lipstick, you will need to reapply after wear or eating and drinking. With that being said, I do find them to be the perfect lipstick for everyday wear, especially in the nude and baby pink shades since they are so wearable.

Although there isn’t really anything that stellar about these shades (we’ve all seen nudes, pinks, berries, and reds before), I do actually like the colour range that the brand has released for the season and find all of them to be very wearable and transitional as the weather gets warmer.

Fresh & fruity: New fragrances you need to try from Nest

It’s no doubt right now that the world is in chaos.

Myself, like a lot of people, is currently working from home and although I love the separation between office and home life, I know it’s a step to ensure a healthier and safer world. So, with that being said, having a nice work space at home is a necessity right now and if you are looking to add a little zen into your home, then take a look at what Nest New York has recently released for spring.

You guys know that Nest Fragrances is one of my favourite home fragrance brands and whenever they come out with new scents, I always make it a priority to smell them. For spring, they have released a couple Italian-inspired scents to bring some vacation vibes into your home, even if your plans got canceled.

Nest Amalfi Lemon & Mint candle

Amalfi Lemon & Mint will transport you to Italy’s Amalfi Coast with a blend of zesty lemon and orange bergamot paired with freshly picked mint and a hint of driftwood. This one is very fresh smelling and although it sounds like an odd couple, the mint and lemon actually go very well together.

If you like earthier scents then take a look at their other new home fragrance, Mediterranean Fig, which features a blend of crushed fig leaves and blue cypress mixed with violet. This one is more reminiscent of the Italian countryside (as opposed to the coast, like Amalfi Lemon & Mint) and definitely has more of an earthy, herbal scent to it.  Nest Mediterranean Fig reed diffuser

Both of these scents are available as votives (C$23), one-wick (C$56), and three-wick (C$90) candles, as well as reed diffusers (C$64).

If you are looking for a new spring perfume to brighten your day, then take a whiff of their new Sunkissed Hibiscus perfume. This eau de perfum is a floral scent that features key notes of frangipani, orange blossom, and golden amber. This is definitely on the lighter side and is one of those perfumes that is so easy to wear no matter the occasion.

With the warmer weather on the horizon, and hopefully soon being able to actually go outside with groups to enjoy it, this will scent will definitely be a staple. Even if you need a little pick me up right now, I think you’ll really enjoy this, even if it means spraying it on to wear around the house.

This perfume is available as a 50 ml spray (C$98) or a travel-sized (C$36).

I know it may be strange to promote beauty products in this current situation, but this is what I truly love doing and since we are going to be spending more time at home anyways, you might as well create a space that you love being in.

What’s your favourite scent?
