Powered by nature: Products to try from Origins
I always love trying out new skincare brands. And when I say “new”, I mean new to me.
I have known about Origins for years but haven never had the opportunity to try it out. For Earth Day this year the brand (which is owned by Estee Lauder) sent over a box of their top sellers and I couldn’t be more excited to receive it.
Origins contains naturally-derived ingredients and their products don’t include any parabens or ingredients that are bad for you. Their products are also cruelty-free vegetarian (since they do use honey and beeswax). The brand as a whole also gives back to the Earth through the use of minimal packaging, carbon-neutral shipping, tree plantings, and conscious manufacturing.

Origins Check and Balances
Starting first with a cleanser, the Origins Checks and Balances (C$33) is a frothy vegan face wash that removes makeup, dirt, oil, you name it from the skin.
This face wash cleanses and purifies skin thanks to a formula containing broad leaf kelp extract, wheat protein, and tourmaline. It also has mint essential oil, which is so pleasant and makes your skin just feel so clean and fresh.
This face wash is gentle enough to be used everyday and I love the fact that it’s nice and frothy. Between the formula and the scent, my face just feels so fresh and clean after using it.
Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion
Follow up with their Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion (C$47). This treatment lotion helps to calm skin and reduce the look of pores. This works as a toner and helps to prep your skin for the rest of your products and also strengthens the skin’s barrier.
This lotion contains reishi mushroom, as well as adaptogenic liquorice root to activate the skin’s natural defences against external aggressors that can often lead to early signs of aging. This lotion also helps to repair dry, red, and irritated-looking skin.
Apply this to your skin via a cotton pad or your hands morning and night for more radiant-looking skin, as well as reduced pores and redness.
GinZing Vitamin C & Niacinamide Eye Cream
For the eyes, take a look at the GinZing Vitamin C & Niacinamide Eye Cream (C$44).
This eye cream contains vitamin C and niacinamide to visibly reduce dark circles instantly and over time, while also depuffing, brightening, and hydrating. If you suffer from dark circles then I think you’ll love this since is help to brighten the undereye area (they have two different shades to choose from, Original and Warm). It also helps to hydrate the area, making it perfect to apply underneath your makeup. Apply this morning and night for the best results.
Plantscription Multi-Powered Youth Serum
For serums, try their Plantscription Multi-Powered Youth Serum (C$75), which is their number-one anti-aging serum. Apply this to your skin prior to your moisturizer to see visibly reduced lines and wrinkles, as well as more firm skin.
This serum has a 9.2 per cent complex of 6 peptides and targets three foundational components in the skin; collagen, elastin, and fibrillin. This serum boosts collagen and will leave you with skin that has noticeably less visible lines and pores, as well as more firmness.
GinZing SPF 40 Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturizer
Also part of the GinZing line, the SPF 40 Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturizer (C$53) is great to wear for the daytime.
This moisturizer helps to hydrate, energize, and perfect and protect skin. It contains caffeine from coffee beans to wake up skin, as well as panax ginseng to boost moisture levels for energized skin. This also contains SPF 40 to protect skin from the damaging rays of the sun, while also giving you a sheer ting for flawless skin. I mean, what more could you ask for in a daytime moisturizer?
A Perfect World SPF 40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea
Finally, if you are looking for a moisturizer that isn’t tinted, then take a look at the A Perfect World SPF 40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea (C$62). This moisturizer also contains SPF 40 and gives skin hydration, plus protection against environmental aggressors and UV rays.
This moisturizer is oil-free and contains White Tea to protect skin. It also helps to delay visible signs of aging and protects skin from the skin, pollution, infrared rays, and more.
Apply this in the morning for protection and for anti-aging benefits.
These are just a handful products from Origins and there are tons more to choose from depending on your skin type and concerns. You can find Origins products at both Sephora and Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada.
