Make it glow: First impressions of Skin Proud

I’m such a sucker for branding.

I recently got introduced to a new brand to Canada, Skin Proud, and as soon as I saw the packaging, I knew I would love it.

Skin Proud is a UK drugstore skincare brand that you can find here in Canada at Walmart. Skin Proud is a clean vegan skincare line that is for all skin types and ages. Their products blend together science-led ingredients with natural extracts to treat your skin.

Skin Proud products

Now the first thing you’ll probably notice about their products is the adorable pink packaging which gives me Kylie Skin vibes.  I actually didn’t even notice this at first, but depending on the product, there are three different shades of pink. Skin Proud products are colour-coded for ease of use, so the lilac pink products are for the morning, the salmon colour is for anytime of the day, and the mauve pink is for night.

Starting first with a cleanser, the Skin Proud Velvet Cloud Foaming Cleanser (C$16.97), which is a mousse foam cleanser that smells amazing and just melts away any dirt, oil, makeup, etc. off your skin.  This cleanser is enriched with vitamin B3 which moisturizes skin, as well as amino acids to keep skin balanced and bright without stripping it of moisture.

Skin Proud Velvet Cloud Cleanser and Detox Toner

Follow up with their Detox Tonic, Daily Exfoliating Tonic (C$16.97), which is a toner used to remove any dead skin cells, hydrate skin, and prep it for the rest of your routine.

This toner, which also smells amazing, has a balance of AHAs, apple extract to moisture, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera to calm skin, unclog pores, tame blemishes, and improve the appearance of texture and brighten tone.  It also has five per cent lactic avid and glycolic acid to remove dead skin cells.

Now that your skin is prepped for the rest of your routine, go in first with one of their serums. For the day, use the Smooth Talk Serum (C$17.97). This serum contains two per cent hyaluronic acid, as well as peptides to rejuvenate skin, pineapple extract to clarify, and hyaluronic acid to soften skin.

This serum works to lock in moisture for the appearance of plumped and hydrated skin.  It also helps to increase hydration levels by up to 40 per cent in 30 minutes and will keep skin hydrated for up to 12 hours.

Skin Proud Smooth Talk and Recharge Serum

For the night, give their Recharge Serum (C$17.97) a try. This serum contains 0.5 per cent retinol serum so it helps to even skin tone and promote cell renewal while you sleep.  This serum also has hyaluronic acid and rose hip oil to promote cell renewal, calm skin, and remove skin dead skin cells for skin that is glowing when you wake up.

For a daytime moisturizer give the Sorbet Skin (C$16.97) a shot. This moisturizer has a four-part hyaluronic acid complex that gives you healthy and glowing skin. This moisturizer, which has a gel-like texture is hydrating and lightweight and locks in moisture for a dewy complexion.

The moisturizer also has rose flower water to restore, revitalize, rehydrate, and renew skin.

Skin Proud Sorbet Skin and Sleep Hero moisturizers

Finally, for night, their Sleep Hero moisturizer (C$16.97) is a great one to try out.  This moisturizer works as a leave-on mask while you sleep and is formulated with raspberry extract and balancing niacinamide to promote healthy skin. It also has cranberry seed oil to nourish skin. Apply this moisturizer before bed and wake up with nourished and glowing skin.

I was pleasantly surprised by this line and loved how well the products worked (and smelled). The two I really recommend are the cleanser and toner since I love the consistency and packaging of these products. I’m a sucker for a foaming cleanser and this one is amazing. Also, the toner comes in a pump bottle, making it super easy to dispense on a cotton round.

I would definitely check out this line next time you’re at Walmart Canada, especially if you are in your teens or 20s. I think this would be right up your alley.
