Soft for spring: The skincare you need to try for March 2021

Ah skincare….

Remember back in the day when brands only really had like three products in their lines?  Welcome to 2021 where there is a skincare product for just about any concern.

When it comes to my routine, I definitely don’t play around and I’m the first to admit that I’m very fortunate to be able to be sent amazing products to play around with a try.  When it comes to skincare though, it’s a category that you really have to try and use. It’s not like an eyeshadow palette where in theory, you could use it once and know how it works.  With skincare, sometimes it’s like that depending on the product, but it’s something that you have to experiment around with and use everyday to see how it reacts with your skin.

Typically when I get in a new skincare product or line, I will give it a shot a couple times and then rotate it in every once in a while. The bulk of it I actually keep in my cabinet and typically once I’m out of a certain category of product, like a moisturizer, I’ll go in my cabinet and take out a product that I really wanted to try and experience.

If you are looking for some new items to incorporate into your routine, then here are some items I’ve gotten lately and can’t wait to fully experience.

DermaE Firming DMAE Moisturizer and Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads

Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer and Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads

If you are looking for more firm and lifted skin, then take a look at Derma E’s new products.

For visibly lifted, firmed, and tightened skin, start with the Ferulic Acid Resurfacing Pads (C$34.99), which are pre-soaked cotton pads aimed to remove dead skin cells to cleanse and resurface skin over time.

These pads are infused with a blend of Resveratrol and Kojic Acid, these pads leave skin feeling firmer and stronger by protecting it against free radicals which can age the skin faster since it breaks down collagen. The Kojic Acid is derived from mushrooms, which provides skin brightening benefits and also helps to fade discolouration, such as age, dark and sun spots.  The Resveratrol helps to protect skin from daily environmental stressors and brightens dull-looking skin.

Use these pads sparingly at first, one to three times a week and then build up the usage.  You can also rinse the pads with water to help neutralize them.

After the pads, use the Derma E Firming DMAE Moisturizer (C$36.49), which helps to visibly firm, lift and smooth skin.  This moisturizer, suitable for both day and night usage, will moisturize skin and provides nutrients to it, including Alpha Lipoic Acid, known as a universal antioxidant, and C-Ester, jojoba oil, and Vitamins A and E.  This moisturizer is aimed to help address the loss of elasticity and provide a firming effect.

Apply this moisturizer to your face and neck to lift and firm.  I also want to note that because it has some pretty heavy-duty ingredients (like Vitamin A, which is what is in retinol creams), I would also work your skin up with this one to condition it.

Tula Claydate clay mask

Tula Claydate Detoxing and Toning Face Mask Stick

You guys know I’m completely obsessed with Tula, so whenever they release a new product, I need to get my hands on it ASAP.

Brand new from the probiotic skincare brand is the Claydate Detoxing and Toning Face Mask Stick ($34 USD), which is a clay mask that helps to detox and tone the skin thanks to Mediterranean clay, which draws out dirt and excess oil, all without drying the skin.

The thing I really love about this mask is that is is mess free. When it comes to clay masks, traditionally they are very messy. They are messy to remove and the clay gets everywhere.  This isn’t the case with this one.  This glides not he skin thanks to the stick applicator and it also removes really easily since it does dry down but doesn’t stick to skin.

The formula also contains apple cider vinegar and witch hazel to tighten the appearance of pores, as well as prebiotics and probiotic extracts to balance.  Wear it for at least 10 minutes then rinse off and follow up with the rest of your routine.  You’ll find that your skin also feels nice and soft.

If you want to give this all-star a try, then use code SHAYNA at checkout for 15% off your Tula.com order!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream and Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

Now a little something for your body.

I don’t know about you, but my body has been feeling so dry lately, so when I got in Glow Recipe’s newest product I was over the moon to try it out.

As part of their iconic Watermelon Glow line, they just released the Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream (C$37), which is a lightweight body cream that is ideal for all skin types.

This body cream contains watermelon seed butter to moisturize, hibiscus AHA to smooth skin, and hyaluronic acid to hydrate. This body lotion is very silky, light, and absorbs nicely into the skin without a greasy feel. The watermelon seed butter and hibiscus AHA is traditionally used for facial care so it’s a nice feeling on your body and will provide hydration that lasts all day.

This body cream comes in a plastic bottle with a pump, which is something different from their traditional glass ones. I love the scent of this lotion and especially love how quickly it dries into your skin and how it doesn’t leave you with a greasy feel.

I like applying this lotion to my body at night and will sometimes pair it with the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask (C$59).  This mask is a lightweight gel mask that you apply before bed to wake up with radiant, smooth, and hydrated skin.

This mask contains hyaluronic acid for moisture, as well as amino-acid-rich watermelon extract to hydrate, soothe, and fight free radical damage which causes fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.  It also has AHA, which is a gentle chemical exfoliator which helps to get rid of dead skin, smooth fine lines, soften skin’s texture, diminish dark spots, and clarify the pores. It also has pumpkin extract, which repairs skin and defends it against free radicals as well.

You can either apply this mask as a sleeping mask or apply it as a wash-off mask. I really like this one since it’s different from any other mask in my collection in terms of the texture. It’s very lightweight, cooling, and although it doesn’t feel like it would pack a punch, it definitely does.

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone

IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone

Another skincare line (or just line in general) I love is IT Cosmetics.  I’ve used a ton of their products, including their skincare ones, and have really enjoyed them.

I recently got sent their Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturizer (C$64), which is their moisturizer aimed at anti-aging. I’ve tried a number of their Confidence in a Cream products, so I was really pleased to see that they have this version as well.

This moisturizer is enhanced with rosy tone pigments which help to revitalize skin to give it instant vitality, something that you lose as you age.  Any skin type can use this, and if you are looking for something aimed at anti-aging then this is a great option as it gently exfoliates and stimulates surface cell renewal, which helps to make you look younger.

The formula contains iris root, peony extract, aloe leaf juice, squalane, chickpea extract, and lipohydroxy acid which will helps to transform dull skin thanks to its ability to boost natural surface cell turnover.  With regular use you will notice a move lifted appearance and smoother, more even-looking skin.
