I feel like I keep adding more and more things to my daytime skincare routine.
Since I’m 32 (I legit thought I was 31 the other day), adding in some extra steps into my daytime skincare routine has been a necessity for me lately. The last step I have started incorporating is a sunscreen since sun damage does a lot to your skin and can lead to premature aging (plus, you know, skin cancer).
In addition to sunscreen, I have also been incorporating some blue light protection, and if there is a product that does both, then that’s a real win in my books.
If you are on the hunt for some truly innovative products to incorporate into your routine, then keep reading.
Tula Protect + Glow – Daily Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen
You guys know I’m obsessed with Tula products, but the one thing they were missing was a sunscreen. Well the long wait was well worth it since they finally released a sunscreen and it’s so amazing.
The Tula Protect + Glow – Daily Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen (US$36) is a broad spectrum sunscreen that gives you SPF 30 protection, while also giving you blue light protection and coverage against damaging pollution.
A sunscreen that also has blue light and environmental protection? Why yes, this sounds like the best sunscreen ever.
The formula is non-comedogenic and won’t clog pores or leave a white cast on skin. Like all of Tula’s ingredients, the sunscreen is powered by probiotics, as well as pineapple and papaya, which will help promote even skin tone. It also includes wild butterfly ginger root, which helps to protect it against blue light.
I apply this to my face as my last step in the morning. The sunscreen is yellow and blends out really nicely on the skin (it doesn’t make your skin yellow either… in fact it’s quite refreshing to apply). It doesn’t have that chemically sunscreen scent either and leaves you with a really pretty glow.
Unfortunately Tula isn’t available in Canada at the moment but if you are in the states or have a forwarding mailbox, I highly recommend picking this up. Don’t forget, score 15 per cent off your Tula order with code SHAYNA.
Indeed Skincare Hydraluron+ Moisture Mist
I love the Volition Beauty blue light spray and have been waiting for more brands to release a similar product. Thankfully, Indeed Labs jumped to it with their new Hydraluron+ Moisture Mist (C$24.99).
So why do you need blue light protection? If you are like me and are in front of screens all day everyday, then you need a little something to put on your face to protect it against the harmful rays of gadgets. HEV light, which is emitted from phones, computer screens, TVs, etc. can penetrate the deeper layers of our skin and mess around with natural collagen production. This spray helps to provide hydration and plumpness to the skin, which in turn helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The spray includes HEV-shielding ingredients, including extracts from the same butterfly bush which is in the Tula sunscreen, which has over three times the antioxidant power of goji berries. Spray this mist on your face to protect it against blue light and outdoor pollution, as well as to brighten skin.
Indeed Labs says to apply this to your skin before your moisturizer and serums. I like spraying it after since I find when I spray it before I have to wait for it to dry first. You can also throw it in your bag for whenever you need a little spritz on tired-looking skin or a little pick me up to refresh.
Rodan + Fields Radiant Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30
Finally, if you are looking for a SPF that will give you a little coverage as well, then take a look at the Rodan + Fields Radiant Defense Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 (C$66).
If you find CC creams or BB creams to be a little heavy, then this will be your best friend. This four-in-one tinted moisturizer gives you just the right amount of coverage for radiant skin, as well as a more smoother appearance. The tinted moisturizer neutralizes skin-dulling environmental aggressors, repairs the natural moisture barrier for smoother skin, protects against the sun’s ray for healthier skin, and gives you a perfect complexion for a beautiful glow.
Apply this on your skin after your moisturizer to even out skin tone, reduce redness and the look of large pores, and cover up post-acne marks. I love the IT Cosmetics CC cream, but do find that I can feel it on the skin. This R+F product is pretty weightless, meaning it’s a super comfortable wear. It also have a number of antioxidants and ingredients, meaning it will nourish the skin as you wear it.
Check out the R+F site to find your perfect shade; there are 10 to choose from.
You really can never have enough sun protection, and if your sun protection also includes other skin protection goodies, then that’s a total plus as well.
