A milestone anniversary: Rimmel London x Kate Moss 15th anniversary lipsticks

title Kate Moss has been collaborating with UK beauty brand Rimmel London since I was 13… Say what?

I feel like they just announced this collaboration with the supermodel a few years back, but it’s been a whole 15 years that she’s been working with the drugstore brand. Crazy!  To celebrate this milestone, the English beauty and the iconic British brand has rereleased some of Kate’s favourite reds and nudes. The colours highlight Moss’ fashion personality from red carpet to boho queen.

lipsticks

In case you aren’t familiar with the Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipsticks, there are three different finishes and formulas to choose from. You can tell the difference by the colour of the tube. Some are black, others red, and the rest nude.

Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss, housed in a red tube, gives bold colour enriched with ruby powder, giving your lips a velvet colour all day.  There are two colours to choose from in this collection, #111 and #107.

107 111

Lasting Finish by Kate Moss is the first lipstick created by the supermodel. The lipstick comes in a black tube and is infused with black diamonds that reflect light. As well, its high-intensity colours lasts up to eight hours.  The colours she brought back for this collection are #30 and #14, a nude and a magenta.

30 14

Lastly, and my favourite collection and shades, Lasting Finish Nude Collection by Kate Moss is a collection of nude lipsticks. I’ve always loved the shades in this particular collection and the two that were released for this 15th anniversary collection are my faves from the whole lot. The colours, #45 and #41, are both a pinky nude shade and are so flattering to wear.

41 45

I’ve tried many of the Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipsticks through the years and have always thought they are amazing quality. The colour is so pigmented and moisturizing, and not to mention very long lasting (seriously though, a little goes a long way). They also have a vanilla scent to them, but a different smell than MAC’s lipsticks.  Each shade retails for C$7.99 each.

Have you picked up any of the Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish 15th Anniversary collection?

Please note, I was sent this product from PR. All opinions are my own.

Rose all day: Elizabeth & James Nirvana Rose and Bourbon

title

One of my absolute favourite perfumes is Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black. From the first time I wore it (got a sample of it with one of my Sephora purchases), I knew I just had to have it.  Not only did I purchase it, but I also have it in the body oil, pure perfume oil, the rollerball, the White version, and the pure perfume oil of the white as well. Needless to say, I can’t get enough of Nirvana.

When I first started wearing Nirvana Black I had multiple friends ask me what perfume I was wearing. When I told them it was Nirvana Black, they both went out and bought it. It’s just so amazing. Anyways, fast forward a couple years to now and when I saw that Elizabeth & James released two new fragrances in the line, I just knew I had to have them.

bottles-open bottles-flat

New to the family are twins Rose and Bourbon. Both of these scents are packaged in the recognizable Nirvana bottle, but this time it’s deep brown and red. Both perfumes are an amazing ode to the originals as well; you can definitely tell they come from the same family.

Nirvana Bourbon, available in a rollerball (0.34 oz), 1.0 oz, and 1.7 oz format (C$30, C$82, and C$107 respectively), is a sultry vanilla fragrance with hints of musk. Both of these are more masculine scents, so if you’re looking for something girly, you won’t find that in these. Think sexy and provocative. Bourbon has notes of vanilla bourbon, oakwood, and tuberose.

Although I love both, Rose is my favourite of the two. Rose (available in the same sizes and prices) is more floral and definitely embodies the rose name. My co-worker loved it instantly when she smelled it on me (she even asked “what perfume are you wearing, I need to buy that”). She said it reminded her of the rose steam room at Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, B.C., this amazing resort in the mountains owned by the Swarovski family. Subconsciously I smelled the roses, but I didn’t really notice it until she pointed it out. The notes include rose de mai, geranium, and vetiver.

sides-of-bottles

Although I do prefer Rose to Bourbon, I’m obsessed with both of these. They definitely aren’t for the faint of heart, and although I’ve been wearing them during the day to test them out, they are both a night-time fragrance since they are so bold.

I don’t know if these have overtaken Nirvana Black for top spot, but they are both amazing additions to the Nirvana line up. You need to stop by Sephora to give these a whiff.

Have you smelled Nirvana Bourbon and Rose yet?

Black and red: Kat Von D Hello Canada set and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Project Chimps

title

If I had to choose one brand I’m loving the most lately, it would be hands-down Kat Von D Beauty.

I’ve had the opportunity recently to try out their new concealer creme, their Lock It Tattoo Foundation, some of their new brushes, the eyeshadow primers, etc. and I’ve been loving all of it.  What started out as “just a Sephora brand”, this beauty line, headed up LA Ink tattoo superstar Kat Von D, has some serious cred.

close-up-of-bag

Exclusive for us Canadians, the reality show star released a Hello Canada! set housed in the chicest Vegan leather clutch.  The set, which retails for C$45, contains minis of some of her best sellers, including the Studded Lipstick in Lolita (a cult classic), Tattoo Liner in Trooper, and an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare.

I absolutely love everything about this set. The Tattoo Liner in Trooper is one of my all-time favourite liquid eyeliners as it applies amazing and lasts forever. Since it’s a smaller size, it’s perfect to throw in your purse or travel makeup bag. I’m surprised they did Lolita — which is Sephora’s all-time best seller lipstick in the United States — in the Studded lipstick, whereas the colour is most known in the Everlasting formula. Instead they included Double Dare, which is apparently Kat’s go-to nude, although it applies slightly darker than a traditional nude colour, and to be honest, looks very similar to Lolita (although not as mauve).

As for the bag, it is very thin so you don’t want to overload it. It’s simple with the Kat Von D Beauty logo embossed in the vegan leather on the front, as well as a tassle on the zipper. I’ve already worn this clutch out twice, and it’s definitely worth the $45 (the fact that it comes with makeup is a bonus in my opinion).

Now for my international readers, since this set is sadly only available in Canadian Sephora stores (I noticed the UK stores have a similar set, just without the clutch), she did put out another limited edition item. As part of the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick range, Project Chimps is a warm brick red matte liquid lip product that looks kinda like a tomato red in the tube, but applies amazingly on the lips. Twenty per cent of every lipstick sold goes towards Project Chimps, which is non-profit organization that works to stop the use of chimps in biomedical research, and retire them to a life of freedom and sanctuary.  Very on-brand since Kat Von D Beauty is against animal testing and will never do so in their products.

The product comes in a specially branded box, and when when I first saw the colour I was disappointed. I mean, how many red lipsticks do we need in the world. But then when I applied the colour, I actually ended up loving it. It is a very bold red, but with this formula it won’t slide around, which is usually a put-off for me when I wear this shade.

Like I said, Kat Von D is killing it and if you’re in Canada, make sure you check this set out For C$45, it’s an amazing value. As for Project Chimps, hey, if it’s for a good cause then that totally justifies the purchase of a lipstick, right? 😉

Have you tried any of these Kat Von D products?
