Just peachy! Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oils

I think we all remember the Too Faced Sweet Peach hype from last year. If you’re not familiar with it, basically it’s Too Faced’s fastest-selling product, like ever. The Sweet Peach palette was so popular that they brought it back, made more of them, and came out with a whole collection dedicated to this sweet fruit.

I received a whole bunch of items from the collection and although I will be reviewing and using them next week on the blog, I really wanted to do a separate post on the Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oils since they surprised me more that I thought they would.

Available in eight shades from pinks to nudes to corals, these lip glosses are a whipped peach lip oil that contain the shine of a gloss and the moisture of a lip balm. Each one contains peace essence, coconut oil and Vitamin E.

I received two of the shades, Poppin’ Peach (coral) and Peach, Please! (baby pink). I wasn’t too excited to try these at first because I thought they would be a sheer gloss, one that doesn’t give you the colour found in the tube and ultra sticky. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn’t the case.

These glide on the lips and give you a really pretty colour, similar to what you see in the tube, just not as vibrant. As soon as you open them you get a whiff of that delicious peach scent that will make you want to lick off all the product as soon as you apply it.  The wear is super comfortable and not sticky; it really does feel like you are wearing a lip balm, as opposed to a gloss.  They are also super nourishing and don’t feel heavy at all.

Lip oils seem to be a thing now and I’m totally loving this trend. I’m not a huge gloss fan since I don’t like to actually feel my lip products, if that makes sense. These give you such comfortable wear and a nice touch of colour.  Plus, that scent? Who wouldn’t want to wear these all day?!

Have you tried Too Faced’s Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oils? What were your thoughts?

That extra touch: Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner

Ever since Kylie Jenner released her lip kits, lip products have been taking centre stage in the makeup world. If you asked me two years ago what I thought about lip liners, I would have said that I thought only old ladies use them. I didn’t see the need to line your lips. Fast-forward two years and that’s all changed.

I find myself regularly reaching for lip liners to line my lips before applying a matte liquid lip. Since these set so quickly, I like to line my lips first and then fill them in with the product. I have uneven lips, so this lets me stay within the lines easily and makes application just more simple in general. Lining your lips also makes them look larger.

Since the Kylie Lip Kits come with a lip liner, a lot of other brands have been releasing the liners to coincide with the different shades in their lipstick line. Kat Von D is one of the newest ones to release these products.

Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick have reached cult status, and for good reason. There’s an assortment of different shades and the formula stays on your lips for a long time, giving you a matte texture with a colour so opaque it’s crazy. Their Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are so popular that it’s a no-brainer that they released a lip liner to pair up with the lipsticks.

The Everlasting Lip Liners are available in 30 shades that are matched perfectly with the Kat Von D lipsticks. There’s favourites like Lolita, Bow N Arrow, and Vampira, as well as many other shades to choose from that run the gamut of cool-girl colours. The lip liners are retractable (no sharpener needed) and offer up 24-hour, water-resistant wear with a weightless colour and matte texture.

I received the colour Lolita free from Influenster and was so excited to give it a try since I have Lolita in the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick as well. In case you don’t know, Lolita is Kat Von D’s most popular shade and also one of the best-selling colours in Sephora history. The colour matches the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick to a T and feels so comfortable when applied.

The texture of lip liners in general can be hit or miss, some of them drag on your lips and give you a faint colour that you really have to press down to apply, others glide on your lips smoothly. The Kat Von D ones are the latter, they apply so creamy and buttery that you definitely need to apply these with a light hand.

I have a bunch of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, and all of them are unconventional shades or darker ones (browns, blues, blacks, reds, purples), so I’m totally going to look into investing in a few more shades since it will be easier applying the lipsticks if I have a liner on hand. I don’t know about you, but have you ever used a lipliner that was slightly off from the shade of lipstick you were applying? Yeah, it looks very ’80s.

Overall I’m totally digging these liners, they apply so pigmented and give you a comfortable wear. You can even just wear these alone if you don’t want to invest in both products.  They retail for C$22 each and the lipsticks go for C$24.

Have you picked up a Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner?

Bronzed + baked: Three products to fake a bronzy glow

I’m like really pale. So pale that if you ever see me with a tan, you should know it’s fake.

There’s nothing like looking bronze. Not only does it make me feel happier, but it makes me look thinner, it makes my muscles more noticeable, and a tan is just more bomb in general. I envy all those olive-skinned girls out there that can get bronzy in no time. No matter how long I stay in the sun, I just won’t get darker. So I fake it.

I’ve talked about self tanners a ton on here, but there’s other products as well that will help you achieve an awesome glow. Sometimes all it takes is a little bronzer or shimmer to give you that baked look.

Taste Braziliance Plus+ self tanner and mitt

Okay so the first product is a self tanner, but it’s one of my new favourites. Who would have thought that Tarte would make an awesome tanner?

Brazilliance Plus+ Selt Tanner and Mitt is a tinted bronze gel that you apply with the felt mitt for an even, streak-free tan. Although I love mousse tanners more than liquids or gels, I’ve really been loving this since it goes on so evenly, and unlike other gels out there, you can actually see the colour once you apply it since it’s a bronze colour. The product is also packed with natural exfoliators and moisturizers and contains squalane (I just posted about this a couple weeks ago about some Asian skincare products), aloe and citric acid to help condition and promote exfoliation, which preps skin for each application so your tan fades evenly and gradually. Best of all, it smells amazing! I can’t quite nail it, but I feel like it has a scent like gingerbread.

Seriously, this sunless tanner is so amazing, and the colour develops in about four hours (I always apply it before bedtime to let it set overnight).

Stila Stay All Day Bronzer For Face and Body

Next up is a good bronzer. I have a million different bronzers and although I’m not really partial to any of them (I love them all!), I have been digging the Stila All Day Bronzer for Face and Body lately. I did blog about this in my post on what I brought to LA, but I just had to mention it again since it’s such a good bronzer.

What I like about this is that it is quite large, so at C$47 a pop, this guy will last you a long time. There are three different shades (light, medium and dark – I have medium), so depending on your skin tone, there is a colour for you.  The formula is really soft, so the colour glides on your skin and look natural, not patchy. It’s also buildable, so you can wear it for an all-over glow or go deeper for contouring. The finish is matte, so you get a nice natural-looking bronze colour.

BareMinerals Invisible Glow Powder Highlighter in Tan.

Lastly, to accentuate your glow, you need a great highlight to really add some shine to the face. I have so many highlighters, but the newest one to cross my desk is the new BareMinerals Invisible Glow Powder Highlighter in Tan.

This baked highlighter gives you a natural-looking multi-dimensional glow. The baked formula delivers sheer colour that is more of a subtle highlighter compared to a lot of the other ones out there (if you are scared of having a highlight that you can see from space, this is for you!). This formula is available in four different shades, but tan is a combination of champagne and copper that gives you a warm copper hue. I really like this one because it’s a nice complement to any bronzer.

Although the first step to looking tan is actually getting one (whether that be the real way or the faux way), but I definitely love to pull out certain products when I am looking darker. What are your bronzing staples?
