Fan of the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation? Well then you’ll be happy to learn that they recently expanded their shade range.
Although I have a million foundations and a few new favourite drugstore ones, the Fit Me Matte + Poreless has forever been my OG fave. I don’t know how many people I have recommended it to who have also tried it and loved it. This foundation, which has been around for a few years now, blurs pores and controls shine, leaving your skin looking flawless and matte. If you had difficulty finding your perfect fit before, they just expanded the range from 16 shades to 40, so there truly is a colour for every skin tone.
I chatted a couple weeks back about CoverGirl’s new TruBlend Matte Made foundation and how they came out with a staggering 40 shades, so it’s a no brainer that other drugstore beauty brands would follow in their footsteps and release expanded shade ranges as well.
I received three bottles of the foundation (I actually ran out a couple months back, so I was happy to receive these). I was previously using 120 Classic Ivory, however, with my newly tanned summer skin, I was happy to receive in addition to that one, 122 Creamy Beige and 128 Warm Nude (which I’m wearing in the photos). This foundation is incredible because it blends in wonderfully on your skin, mattifies the face, and is lightweight. It also doesn’t dull your skin and wears nicely throughout the day. The expanded shade range on this goes from 102 Fair Porcelain to 380 Espresso.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I love that drugstore brands are finally realizing that there is no one-colour-fits-most when it comes to foundation. Every skin tone is different and it’s discouraging to choose a shade when there’s only a limited amount of options. For those that have a darker skin tone, it even more difficult to find a foundation that fits, so I’m happy that Maybelline finally lived up to their claim and chose to fit everyone (plus I’m estastic that it’s my favourite foundation by the brand as well).

I’m fortunate that I get to travel a lot.
Since it always seems like I’m jetting off somewhere, I like to be very organized when it comes to packing. To be honest, there’s nothing I hate more about travel than packing and unpacking. Although the clothes may change, for the most part, the cosmetics always stay the same. For years now I have had a separate makeup bag for all my travel cosmetics, and same with my skincare, so this way I can just grab the bag, throw it in my suitcase, and not have to think about what I want to bring, or be disappointed that I forgot something.
Since I get so much stuff on the daily, I do often rotate out products in my travel cosmetic bags, or throw in items that I think would be convenient for a particular trip. Thus, I bring you today’s post, items that I’ve been loving lately and ones I think will totally help you with your packing.
Sephora Ocean Crush The Minimalist makeup bag
Okay, so obviously you need a bag to actually hold all your items, and if you like pink and glitter (who doesn’t?), then this one is for you. As part of Sephora Collection’s summer 2018 collection, the Ocean Crush The Minimalist bag (C$28) is perfect to hold all your (TSA-approved) essentials.
This double-sided bag has pink sparkles on one side and then blush faux leather on the other. The bag is pretty roomy for all your beauty essentials and you can also use it as a clutch for a night out. Of course, it’s so cute that if you wanted to just keep it as a pouch to have in your purse or something, you can totally do that to. Honestly though, the glitter on this just gets me every time.
Sephora also has this design available as a pouch and an Overpacker bag. I always use Sephora Collection bags as my travel bags as they really do hold a lot of stuff (the sizing on these are great) and each season they come out with such cute, fun designs.
Sephora Collection PRO Essential Brush Set, Rose Gold Edition
Trying to figure out which brushes to bring can be annoying (I’ve totally been there, forgot a brush and then have to figure out which brush I could use to serve that purpose). As a result, I highly recommend picking up a dedicated travel brush set that you can just grab and throw in your suitcase.
Sephora Collection just came out with the mother of all brush sets and although the price is steep on this one, this set is also great for everyday wear or for those looking to up their brush game. The PRO Essential Brush Set: Rose Gold Edition comes with 12 essential makeup brushes, along with a pink binder to hold them all. This set includes every brush you would need to create a makeup look (and then some) and feature rose gold ferules. The case also folds to create an easel stand to display them.

Like I said, the price on this is steep, but I will say that Sephora Collection brushes are top notch, and as someone who has many of them, most of which came in a set, these will last you a long time. So, whether it’s for travel or every day, these will last you for years to come.

La Roche Posay Hyalu-B5 Serum and Care
After I got back from New York City last month my skin was a mess. The texture felt bumpy and I could tell it just wasn’t in great shape. Since I was travelling again a few days later to Houston and San Francisco I made sure to pack much better skincare. As a result, I threw in the Mary Kay Timewise routine, which has suddenly become my new go-to travel skincare routine. That routine consists of a cleanser, an eye cream, a day cream, and a night cream.
For trips where I don’t want to pack as much skincare though, I’ve been digging the La Roche Posay Hyalu-B5 Serum and Care. Both of these products are new and are targeted to reverse wrinkles, loss of volume and elasticity, and tired and dull skin. The pro-skin recovery formula features two types of pure hyaluronic acids, vitamin B5, and madecassoside to help plump skin, repair skin’s barrier, and activate skin renewal.
A little goes a long way with these products, first I apply the serum and then the care product, which is essentially just a moisturizer. With travelling comes canned air and all those pesky air aggressors and pollution that come with various destinations (especially in a populated city like NYC), so having proper skincare is a must.
Caudalie Grape Water
Sometimes you just want a little pick me up. Whether that’s during the actual flight, walking the hot streets of a major city, or trying to soothe a facial sunburn. An item that I totally recommend for this purpose is Caudalie’s Grape Water, a facial mist that gives you improved hydration and diminished skin sensitivity. This 100 per cent organic formula is extracted directly from grapes in Bordeaux and once sprayed it increases your skin’s hydration, soothes any irritators, and just feels so damn good.
If you suffer from redness or rosacea then this is perfect as a spritz of the product will help to calm your skin. You can also use it as a toner after cleansing, a setting spray before or after your apply your makeup, or just to refresh or hydrate your skin throughout the day. For an extra pick me up, put it in the fridge, there’s nothing like spraying this on a super-hot day.
Pick up the travel-sized 75 ml bottle for a TSA-approved carry on. You’ll probably run out of this stuff before the trip is over since you’ll be obsessed with how it makes your skin feel.
Kiss Impress Pedicure
Every time I got for a vacation I always apply Kiss press-on nails. I’ve chatted about these so many times on my blog and they really are part of my travel routine. So imagine my curiosity when the Impress Pedicure press-ons showed up on my door.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw press-on toenails I was a little skeptical. How long will these last? Will they annoy my toes? Will they look cute? Well, as someone who usually gets a pedicure prior to a vacation, I think I have found my new go-to toenail product.
These are just like the finger nail ones in that you measure out the nails to fit your toenails, remove the plastic backing, then just press them on! ImPRESS has so many cute designs available as well that it’ll be hard choosing which one to apply for your vacay or trip (just make sure that you bring the extra nails in case any fall off during your travels). I’ve been wearing these for a week, including during workouts and pools, and they have not budged. Call me IMPRESSed! 😉
Fancii & Co. Aquamist II – Cool Mist Personal Travel Humidifier
Okay, so this last product is totally different from the rest, but as mentioned earlier, travel often means dry skin or getting sick, especially with that canned airplane air. I recently got this little humidifier from Fancii & Co. (the same people that I ordered my makeup mirror from), and love how cool it is.
This little guy is perfect for hotel rooms as you just screw in any standard-sized water bottle, place it in the room, and it produces humidified air quickly and quietly, allowing you to breathe better. Since it’s so small you can just throw it in your bag and it’s powered by either three AA batteries or a USB. It also has an adjustable timer that allows for two, four, six, or eight-hour automatic shut off, so you can run it at night.
I’m always excited to try out new gadgets and this one is unlike anything I have seen before. Totally recommend it if you travel often!
Although it can be stressful to pack and figure out what you want to bring on your vacation, with a little planning ahead of time, you can make it so much easier when it comes to your cosmetic items. This way, you can focus more time on the more important things, like your outfits ;).

As someone who works out every day, although I take a shower daily, I don’t like washing my hair all the time, since over washing it isn’t great for it. Thus, I usually wash it days when I really have to, usually twice a week. So how do I keep it looking nice, clean, and voluminous? Dry shampoo.
Now, with that being said, dry shampoo totally has the tendency to mattify my hair, giving me the urge to wash it more often, so I’m always on the hunt for something that won’t over texturize it. Therefore, imagine my excitement when a box from Marc Anthony Haircare comes to my door and it’s filled with new aerosol goodies, including – you guessed it – some dry shampoo.
The first thing I reached for was a product that I don’t already have a dupe for, the Strengthening Grow Long Volumizing Dry Shampoo Foam, which is a quick-drying, waterless cleansing foam that removes oil, buildup, and excess product. You apply a palm-full of the product to your roots for freshly cleansed and refreshed hair with extra volume.
Now, when I read the instructions and saw that it advised a palm-full of the stuff, I had my doubts. If I apply a palm full of mousse to my hair I’m sometimes left with greasy-looking and sticky locks. This actually absorbed well into my hair and all my worrying about greasy roots disappeared. Also, my hair doesn’t feel overly texturized like a lot of dry shampoos do. In fact, I don’t even feel it, it literally feels like freshly-washed hair. It didn’t give me major volume that sticks, but if I fluffed up the roots, then they lifted up.
So why a mousse instead of a spray? I find this does the same thing the spray does, but it’s cleaner and doesn’t over-texturize your hair. Yeah, your hands get a little dirty, but it’s worth it since I feel like you’ll get a longer wear out of your hair than using a traditional spray. This also doesn’t leave that pesky white residue.
If you love dry shampoo, then you may want to look into their Refreshing Coconut Clear Dry Conditioner, which gives instant hydration, refreshes blow outs, and revives natural curls by locking in moisture. I don’t have curly hair, but like the idea of dry conditioners since they remove frizz, while leaving hair soft and smooth. This is also perfect for summer since it has an amazing coconut scent and it adds shine. This product you can spray from roots to tips, so it gives a little more of a “wash” to your hair.
Speaking of curly hair, I didn’t give this one a try since I don’t have curls, but the Strictly Curls Perfect Curl 7-in-1 Treatment Foam is an all-in-one treatment that has seven benefits: defines curls with flexible hold, detangles, reduces split ends and frizz, nourishing treatment, smooths and softens, moisturizes, and adds shine. This stuff is dispensed like a mousse which you scrunch into your hair. The product adds definition and softness to curls, while leaving them shiny.
Finally, for some major volume, try the Strengthening Grow Long Texture Spray, which is a lightweight dual-purpose spray that can prep hair for styling or can be used as a finisher for texture. This to me would like using dry shampoo as a volumizer since it adds volume at the roots, but also extends your hairstyle for a day or two longer than it would normally last (like dry shampoo). Now with that being said, if you like shiny hair, you’re gonna want to stay away from this then since it gives you a matte finish. This is the kind of product that you’re going to want for a night out or special event.
There hasn’t been a Marc Anthony product that I haven’t loved, so I was so excited to put these to the test and believe me, they don’t disappoint. Aside from the super cute packaging (and that coconut scent), all these products are super affordable since they are found at Walmart Canada.
