I have a lot of face masks.
From sheet masks to clay masks to lips, undereyes, you name it, I got it. For the most part, I don’t get too excited about this particular category of beauty (which was also the number-one searched term in Google in the beauty category and accounting for more than 40 per cent of online sales for beauty companies worldwide), but then I saw that Too Faced was coming out with a glitter mask and I died a little. A mask with glitter in it?! Where can I purchase this?!
Well, unfortunately it’s not quite out yet (the brand has released it on their site a couple times but it sells out fast), but mask mega-giant GlamGlow thankfully has released their own version.
Perhaps more exciting than the Too Faced version, the Glam Glow Glitter Mask Gravity Mud Firming Treatment is a firming mud mask with glitter in it that delivers serious skincare benefits, like firming, lifting, tightening, and toning. Did I mention it has glitter in it? 😛
Okay, so sparkliness aside, this mask is a little different from their other masks in that it’s a peel off. I have tried a number of Glam Glow masks and love them, particularly because the ones I had previously tried were clay which dried on your face and showed you all the gunk that was living in your pores. This one is different in that it’s a black mask with particles of glitter (which I honestly think don’t do anything, it’s just pretty), that dries down on your face and then after about 20 to 30 minutes once it’s completely dry, you peel it off in one swift move to reveal visibly lifted skin.
I’ve used this a number of times now (it’s so FUN!) and have adored it every time. This comes with a little brush which gives you the perfect application. Make sure you don’t apply it too thinly (for C$79 a bottle, I know you’re going to want to ration it, but trust me, the thicker it is, the easier it is to peel off), also you want to avoid your eye area and your brows and hairline since the mask could rip the hair out. This mask features the same benefits of the original Gravity Mud Firming Treatment, but also has TEAOXI complex of licorice and marshmallow leaf to help make skin’s contours more firm.
I mean it’s pretty obvious how I feel about this mask. I absolutely adore this and think it’s the greatest thing Glam Glow has ever come out with (mostly due to the fact that it has glitter in it). I also want to note that the peel off on this is pretty perfect. For the most part, I have always peeled this off perfectly, whereas with other masks, I’ve had to go in a few times to remove it all. It also gives you a fruity scent once you remove it, which is quite nice.
At C$79 a pop at Sephora, this is on the pricier side, but guys, it’s so worth it, especially if you’re a sparkly fanatic like me. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Glam Glow has it in the smaller size at the moment, however, even with those smaller sizes, it’s worth it to buy the full size since you end up with more product in the long run (50 g for $79 or 15 g for $27).
If you love doing face masks, I would highly recommend picking this up. Life is short, buy the mask :P.

You guys, I have found my holy-grail brow product.
Let me start by saying that I’m relatively new to the brow game. I didn’t feel the need to start filling in my brows until a few years ago since they are pretty full to begin with. Ever since I started though, I can’t imagine life without a filled-in brow, so now I’m hooked for life. I have tons of pencils, palettes, pomades, gels, you name it. I was never really sold on one particular product until I tried Maybelline’s new Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil.
Guys, it’s life-changing.
Available in four shades (soft brown, blonde, deep brown, and medium brown), this retractable pencil fills in brows like a charm thanks to its angled applicator (with a small spoolie on the other end). The fact that it’s angled and teardrop shaped make it perfect for giving you a precise line that goes on bold and stays there. Unlike other brow pencils, you don’t need to press hard to get awesome coverage with this, I just merely follow the shape of my brow to get amazing pigmentation that lasts all day.
I typically find brow products to be quite faint when I apply them, which is great if you don’t have a lot to work with off the bat. Since my brows are already full, I just fill them in at the top and a little at the bottom, but there’s something about this pencil that makes them look so pro.
Like I said, I’ve tried a lot of pencils, but this one is my new favourite. I have never had a brow product truly blow me away until now. I received the colour medium brown, which matches my dark brows perfectly. This pencil is part of the brand’s new Total Temptation collection, which launched earlier this month with their new mascara (read my review here).
Also part of the collection is the Eyeshadow + Highlight palette, which contains eight shadows and two highlighters. This cool-toned palette is split up into two different looks, with the left-hand side featuring coral/pink-tones and the right having purple/brown tones. There is also a gold and pink highlight in the middle. Featuring a mix of shimmer and matte shadows, this palette is great for everyday wear. I’ve been using it a lot lately since it’s nice to just throw on for daytime looks. I’ve been gravitating more towards the pink colours, however, I have thrown in some shades from the other side as well.
Like I said, this is a great everyday palette, and perfect for travel. The colour pigmentation is nice, but I do have to say it is on the lighter side. i also want to note that there is a bit of fallout from the shadows as well. Overall though, if you are looking for a good palette with versatile colours, I would look into this one.
Awesome products aside, I’m also really digging the whole coral packaging. I know it’s such a little detail and when it comes down to it it doesn’t matter what colour the package is, but it definitely makes the whole collection pop a little more when it’s stored (not to mention it’s easy to spot in overfilled makeup drawers :P).

With festival season coming up, it’s time to start rounding up all your favourite wash-out hair colours.
I’ve been a huge fan of L’Oreal Colorista for a while now, and although I have tried different brands that offer pretty much the same thing – non-permanent hair colour – none seem to stack up to L’Oreal’s version. With that being said, I’m always down to try out new formulas, so when Joico sent me their version back in the summer, I was waiting for the perfect time to try it out.
Thankfully, months later I ended up going more blond, and after a few toning treatments and business trips, I finally gave it a try. Joico Intensity Color Butter is available in six shades: titanium, pink, blue, green, red and purple, and is made for blonde hair or pre-lightening hair. These stay in your hair for up to 10 shampoos and give you vibrant colour after five minutes. Aside from actually giving your blonde a fun colour, these are also made to refresh your existing bold colour already. Red looking dull? Then paint the red version on for statement-looking hair.
Color Butter works the same way as Colorista in that you just open it and then paint it on. Joico says that putting it on damp hair will give you a lighter colour, whereas dry hair will look pigmented. If you wanted the colour to look a little more pastel, you can mix it with the Joico K-PAK Color Therapy daily conditioner.
Since I’ve always wanted to try grey hair, I naturally gravitated towards the titanium colour. Application was easy, I just opened the jar and then painted it on, making sure to do it in layers. Once all the colour is on, leave it there for five minutes before washing it out. Here’s the thing though, although five minutes isn’t a lot of time to wear the product, I found that the under layers of my hair, the ones I painted the colour on first, took to the colour a lot better than the top of my head, where my blond tended to peek through. Because of that, I would recommend leaving the colour on for a little while longer, however, I don’t know if that would damage your hair at all. Joico says that Color Butters also reduce breakage by 44 per cent and instantly give you strong, glossy hair, which I do have to admit, my hair looked and felt nice once I washed the dye out of my hair.
So how did it turn out? Pretty good for only five minutes of letting the colour set. Like I said, underlayers took the pigment a lot better than the top did, so that was a little frustrating, but my friends thought it looked pretty good. I’ve had the colour in my hair for probably two months now, and it’s finally on its last legs of being washed out (I don’t wash my hair often, maybe twice a week).
So how does this compare to other similar products out there? It did a damn good job, considering the amount of time you actually wear the product in your hair. I just tried the titanium colour, none of the other ones since I work in an office and I like to keep it somewhat professional. As for price, these are a little more money than L’Oreal Colorista, at $24.52 at Chatter’s Salons. I have long, thick hair, but I did find that it was the perfect amount of product to cover all of it. Although I don’t really find any dramatic differences between this one and the L’Oreal one, the main differences would be this is also a nourishing treatment, and it takes less time to process (L’Oreal Colorista takes 20-25 minutes). I also want to note that I like how the product comes in jar, as opposed to a squeeze tube, making it easier to apply with a brush.
So would I recommend one over another? Not really. Both are good and I didn’t really find anything I didn’t like with the Joico one (aside from keeping it on my hair a little longer). At this point, it’s personal preference. Both do a damn good job on giving you fun colours, without the commitment.
