Cheeks out: Fenty Beauty releases new cream blush and bronzers

I’ve barely worn makeup since March.

Now that’s officially full-fledged summer and we are in a heat wave no less, the thought of putting makeup onto my face just to have it melt off doesn’t sound all that appealing to me. The one thing I will wear though is a CC cream since it gives me sun protection, skincare benefits, and a relatively good amount of coverage.

CC creams and tinted moisturizers are my jam in the summer time, especially during hot days at the pool or beach.  Since we get all sweaty during these days, wearing cream products are a lot more comfortable on the face than powders, so when I saw that Fenty released new cream blushes and bronzers, I had to get my hands on them.

The Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Bronzer (C$42) is a cream bronzer that applies onto the skin for a natural-looking application that will give you a beautiful glow or a stunning contour (or both!). The formula is very lightweight and non-greasy, meaning it will melt onto the skin rather than apply messy or dirty looking.

There are seven shades in this range in a variety of bronze tones, meaning that there is the perfect shade for just about any skin tone. I do find with cream cheek products that they can be rather difficult to apply or even just to figure out how to apply them. I use a brush, but you can just a sponge or your fingers.  I will say that application wise, I find powders to be easier to apply, however I do recommend having a cream bronzer in your collection. You can either wear this on its own or use it as a base under a powder product.

I find this cream bronzer to be buildable in colour, meaning that you can’t really overdo it with this one (and if you do, it blends out perfectly).  I got the shade 01 Amber, which Fenty says is perfect for fair skin types.  Truthfully I like my bronzers to be a little more caramel in colour and find this one to be very dark, but I will admit that it does apply lighter than it looks in the pan.

Pair the new bronzer with one of their new Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blushes (C$26), which are cream blushes available in a variety of bright shades.

These blushes are also very lightweight and melt onto the skin for the perfect wash of colour. There are 10 shades to choose from, so it’s easy to pick out the perfect blush for you.

Fenty sent me all 10 shades to try out and again, coming from someone who prefers a powder product, I actually really love these and find them a little easier to apply than the bronzers.  I use a brush for these too and although some of the colours look a little too bold for my fair skin, I do find they melt perfectly onto the cheeks with the colour being very buildable.

I love the idea of these, and although Fenty already has creamy blush products, I do think these are a little more dewy on application than their MatchStix blushes. I also find the shade range to be very vast and love that there are 10 colours to choose from.

Both the cream bronzer and blushes are sweat- and water-resistant and apply without feeling sticky or greasy. In fact they settle onto the skin nicely and I found they don’t budge once applied.

Overall, I highly recommend picking up a shade or two of these products. I would recommend the blush over the bronzer a little more since I feel like it’s easier to apply and you can literally wear these everyday, even on bare skin since they give you such a beautiful natural-looking flush.

Once again, this is a winner from Fenty. I seriously think they can do no wrong with their products.

Healthy + happy: Three products you need to try from Fresh

When it comes to skincare brands, I have a lot of favourites. One of those is definitely Fresh.

I’ve tried my fair share of products from the brand and consistently find that they work for my skin.  Right now I’m currently using a few different skincare goodies from the brand and truthfully, my skin is just loving every minute of it.  I also love that the brand is a clean one and they don’t include any parabens, MIT/MCI, formaldehyde and formaldehyde donors, BHA, phthalates, silicons D4 and D6, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban.

If you are looking into trying some products from the brand but don’t know where to start, here are three products I’m currently loving and recommend.

Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash

Fresh Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash

If you aren’t familiar with Fresh’s Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash (C$49/150ml) then you’re probably living under a rock.

I’m just kidding, but in all seriousness, this face wash is a cult classic, and for good reason. Suitable for all skin types, it targets dryness, dullness, uneven texture, loss of firmness and elasticity. It’s a lightweight gel that gently removes makeup, impurities, and tones for clean and balanced skin.

The pH-balanced formula is very gentle on the skin and thoroughly cleans your face while also nourishing it. Some star ingredients include amino acid-rich soy proteins to help maintain skin elasticity and suppleness; cucumber extract to aid in soothing skin; and rosewater to calm and balance.

I will say, $49 for this cleanser is a little steep, but I really do love it and there is a reason why it is so popular.  Anyone can use it and it really makes your skin radiant.  It’s the perfect cleanser to use morning and night to clean your skin.

Fresh Rose Petal-Soft Deep Hydration Lip Balm

Fresh Rose Petal-Soft Deep Hydration Lip Balm

Dry lips? Try out Fresh’s Rose Petal-Soft Deep Hydration Lip Balm (C$32).

Housed in a jar, this hydrating and soft lip balm gently conditions and helps to nourish dry and flaky lips.

Open up the jar to reveal a rose-scented balm that contains rose flower oil to moisturize and soothe dry lips; a blend of emollient oils to visibly soften and moisturize; as well as vitamin e to protect.

You can pair this with their Sugar Lip Polish for the ultimate in lip self care.

With regular use you’ll find that this balm will also help with your lips’ texture, making them look soft and kissable.

Fresh Black Tea Corset Cream Firming Moisturizer

Fresh Black Tea Corset Cream Firming Moisturizer

I recently ran out of my beloved Neostrata Firming Neck Cream, so when I saw I had the Fresh Black Tea Corset Cream Firming Moisturizer (C$125) laying around, I thought it would be a good alternative to try.

This firming cream for the face and neck is suitable for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin, and helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, and loss of firmness and elasticity. It contains their black tea complex, goji fruit extract, and a firming peptide to help lift and tighten skin, as well as improve elasticity for younger-looking skin.

If your main skincare concern includes fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, and a loss of firmness and elasticity, then I think you’ll really love this moisturizer.

Three products from Fresh beauty

Another product I highly recommend you try out is their Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence, which I love (I’m already on my second bottle!). I have blogged about this product before, which you can read here.

If you are looking for a clean beauty brand and haven’t tried Fresh yet, then you need to get your hands (or rather, skin) on some products. These three are great ones to try out and will really help nourish your skin.

Heat wave: New Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer and Desert Haze Luxury Palette

It seems like the hottest new release for the summer are bronzers.

Seeing as it’s the season to be tan, this obviously makes so much sense, and no matter how many bronzers I have in my collection, I always get so excited when new ones show up at my door.

I’ve tried a lot of Charlotte Tilbury products and something that was lacking from her line was a stand-alone bronzer.  I have the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette and the Glowgasm palette, and although I do like the bronzer in the Filmstar one, I found the bronzer in Glowgasm to be really lacking in pigmentation (this is one of few products from the brand that I found to be a bit disappointing).

With that being said, when she released her new Airbrush Bronzer (C$65, which I participated in the Zoom press call for), I was really excited to try it out. This bronzer joins their Airbrush family, meaning that it won’t settle into pores and gives you that iconic airbrush look that her other products are known for.

This palette is quite large and comes in a beautiful rose gold packaging that looks like a seashell and contains hyaluronic acid powder, coconut oil, soft-focus silica, and mica, meaning that it applies flawlessly to skin, giving you the perfect summer glow while also hydrating your skin. Sounds like the best bronzer ever, am I right?!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer

This bronzer is available in four shades, Fair, Medium, Tan, and Deep, and in designing this, her team tested the shades on a variety of skin tones ensuring that none of them looked orange on the skin. I got the shade Medium and really like it. It gives you the perfect amount of glow without look muddy. Think vacation in St. Tropez rather than tanning bed.

This bronzer is also refillable, which is a feature I love meaning that there is less waste and if you love it so much you always want it in your life then you can buy a second one for a cheaper price (since the refillable doesn’t need the container). She will be releasing the refills for these later this year.

If you’re looking for the ultimate bronze glow, then pair her new Airbrush Bronzer with her Desert Haze Luxury Palette (C$66).

This eyeshadow quad is made up of four neutral matte shades that are warm tones.  There is no sparkle or glitter here, instead you get four shades that I find are staples in my makeup collection.

The shades range from light to dark and contain a peachy nude, a deep orange/brown, a deep brown, and a medium brown.  Since these are all mattes, you can wear them a variety of ways and this is the kind of palette that is good to have on hand when using other palettes with various formulas.

Truthfully, these are the kinds of shades that I use often in my eyeshadow routine, so I was really excited about this palette since I know it will get a lot of wear. I found them to apply really nicely and the blended out wonderfully as well.

Overall, I’m loving these two new releases and find them the perfect summer beauty products since they are so versatile to wear.  I’ve been getting in a lot of new bronzers lately and have loved them all, but I do love the included skincare benefits that this one has in particular.

As always, Charlotte Tilbury knocked it out of the park with these products and I highly recommend checking them out.
