There are so many ingredients in skincare products.
Since science is always evolving. A lot of the magic of what gets discovered eventually makes its way into skincare, and since skincare is all about keeping your skin in check and help us stay looking young, these ingredients help with the evolution of the both our faces and the products we use.
One of the ingredients I recently discovered was pycnogenol. Pycnogenol French maritime pine bark is a natural supplement used for many conditions, including ADHD and dry skin. It contains active bioflavonoids shown in numerous studies to provide a range of benefits.
So how can it help your skin? Well, among many different benefits, it helps to reduce the signs of aging as it can help improve hydration and the elasticity of skin. It has also been shown to increase the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen, both of which are found in many skincare products.
Now if this is something that sounds amazing to you but don’t know where to start, then keep reading for some of my recommendations.
Healthy Origins Pycnogenol Veggie Capsules
Okay, so this first one isn’t a skincare product, but is the easiest way to incorporate pycnogenol into your life.
The Healthy Origins Pycnogenol Veggie Capsules (C$69.45) is a capsule that is designed to be taken once or twice daily, preferably with a meal or as directed by a physician. These capsules support a wide range of body supports, including heart health, circulatory health, skincare, eye health, joint case, women’s health, cognitive function, respiratory health, and more.
These are great to take if you don’t want to switch up your skincare routine just yet but still want to incorporate the magic of this ingredient in your lifestyle.
Derma E Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Cleanser and Sensitive Skin Moisturizing Cream
For skincare, Derma E has a line that incorporates both CBD and pycnogenol into their products, making it perfect for sensitive skin.
Starting first with the Skin De-Stress Calming CBD Cleanser (C$26.49), which is a calming cleanser that contains broad-spectrum CBD to gently lift way dirt and impurities without over-drying the skin. It contains Hemp Seed Oil to hydrate and moisturize sensitive skin, as well as pycnogenol and aloe vera with Vitamins A, C, and E to condition and nourish the skin.
Follow up the cleanser with the CBD Sensitive Skin Moisturizing Cream (C$47.49), which is a moisturizer that is designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, leaving you with younger-looking skin. If you have sensitive skin you’ll want to look into using this as the ingredients are aimed to soothe redness, irritated or sensitive skin. It contains pycnogenol for aging, as well as Vitamins A, C, and E to moisturize and soothe for vibrant skin.
This moisturizer is designed for those who have normal to dry skin, or suffer from redness, irritated, sensitive skin, or rosacea.
I know there are a few other skincare items out there that also contain pycnogenol, but these are all great recommendations to give it a try.
Have you tried pycnogenol in your skincare routine? Have you noticed a difference in your skin?

There are some skincare brands that I know I’m just gonna love, no matter what product it is.
When it comes to skincare, you really can’t go wrong with Korean brands and one of my favourites is LANEIGE. I’ve tried out a plethora of their products and use their Lip Sleeping Mask every night and truthfully, there isn’t a product that I haven’t loved.
It’s been a while since I’ve tried out some new products from the line, so when I got a box in the mail a few weeks ago, I couldn’t wait to dive in.
Since Korea gets pretty cold temperatures similar to Canada, I always enjoy receiving their products this time of the year since it’s designed for cold dry weather. So if you are on the hunt for new products to try as we head into the chilly months, then I’m sure you’ll love what you’re about to read…
LANEIGE Water Bank Moisture Cream
Perfect for normal to dry skin, the LANEIGE Water Bank Moisture Cream (C$50) is a rich cream that tackles issues like dryness, acne, and blemishes. It’s a lightweight cream that has mineral-rich vegetable extracts which will help strengthen skin’s moisture barrier for a more hydrated complexion.
This cream contains green mineral water which is extracted from Brussel sprouts, artichoke, and lima bean to add moisture to the skin.
I’ve tried a few different Water Bank products through the years and have always really enjoyed the formulas and how they make my skin look and feel. Like I said, they are especially handy during the winter months as they are designed for normal to dry skin, making them perfect to give your face a burst of moisture.
LANEIGE Glowy Makeup Serum
This next one is for those of you who still wear makeup everyday (certainly not me, but I reserve it for weekends #WFHLife).
The Glowy Makeup Serum (C$43) is a lightweight serum that will give you visibly smoother skin and acts as a canvas primer to make your makeup last longer.
This serum is ideal for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin and will help combat dryness, dullness, and uneven texture. It also helps to dispel oil on the skin and will lock in moisture to keep skin hydrated.
Apply this in the morning before your makeup. The formula includes diamond mineral powder to give you a glow and smooth skin’s appearance, it also contains light fit prep technology to help makeup last longer on the skin.
I used to have a similar serum from Make Up For Ever as well and really love this one since it comes from a skincare brand. I do still like to use a primer in addition to this but find it’s a nice two-in-one product if you wear makeup often since it will hydrate your skin and keep your makeup in check. You can also wear it solo if you’re feeling like giving your face a nice glow.
LANEIGE Cream Skin Mist
I love a good facial spray and have been really into using them morning and night as a last step in my skincare routine.
The newest one in my collection is the LANEIGE Cream Skin Mist (C$36), which is a facial spray that is designed to give you long-lasting hydration. Perfect for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin, this product combats dullness, uneven texture, and dryness and will keep your skin hydrated for up to 12 hours.
Spray this on your face to hydrate and soothe, thanks to the White Leaf Tea Water, which helps to support your skin’s moisture barrier. You can either spray this after your skincare routine, or keep it on you for on-the-go touchups whenever you need a little moisture boost. You can also spray this after you apply your makeup to give your skin a nice glow, as well as increase the longevity of your makeup.
There are so many goodies to try out from LANEIGE and I hope I sparked some interest in picking up a few products as you start to think about your winter skincare routine. Don’t forget, the Sephora holiday sale is also coming up in the beginning of next month, so I would look into adding some of these items to your list if you suffer from dry skin in the winter months.
Have you tried any LANEIGE products?

I love self tanners.
My skin doesn’t tan very well naturally so the use of a good self tanner is a must for me. This year was a bit different than other years since I usually go through bottles of the stuff in the summer, but since I was working for home, I actually got a natural tan for once in my life. So that coupled with the fact that I didn’t really do anything or go anywhere, I haven’t really applied much self tanner over the past few months (I don’t apply it unless I have a reason to do so since I don’t want to waste this precious nectar… hey, self tanners are expensive!).
Anyways, regardless of this, I would never say no to trying out new formulas and a new one to me is Bondi Sands. They reached out to me a few months ago over Instagram and mentioned that they are now sold here in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart, making it easy and affordable for everyone to find it.
Named after and inspired by Australia’s Bondi Beach, Bondi Sands is a line of at-home self tanners that is modelled after salon-quality tanners. The formula contains premium green/blue dye instead of the usual orange/yellow dye, so you end up with a natural-looking tan instead of an orange one. In terms of products, they offer everything from self-tanning lotions to foams to dry oil and so much more.
The brand sent me their Aero Ultra Dark Tanning Mousse (C$41.99), which is a weightless tanning mousse that glides on the skin and is light in texture and touch. They also sent along their tanning applicator mitt (C$8.99), which I used to apply it with.
This tanner also contains Vitamin E and jojoba to hydrate and nourish the skin as you wear it, as well as dual-action tanning actives to give you a deep and long-lasting colour.
In terms of application, this stuff works the same way as other mousse tanners out there. Dispense it on the mitt and then rub it onto your body. This didn’t feel heavy or tacky at all, which was really nice.
I like to apply my tanner at night to let it develop over night and wake up nice and tanned. Bondi Sands says you can apply more of it a few hours after the initial application for a darker tan.
So how did the colour develop? I was expecting more from a tanner that is billed to be “ultra dark”. I would say that I woke up with a glow, but nothing too dramatic. I have used other tanners that give me a deeper colour after one application. With that being said, I like to go big or go home, which I understand isn’t for everyone, so if you like a lighter tan, then I think you’ll enjoy this.
So how does this compare to other brands? I felt like it did the trick but I would have to say that I have tried other tanners that give me a deeper tan after one application. I’ll continue to use this to see if I continuously get the same results, but first impressions didn’t really leave me too satisfied with the colour. It was a nice glow, I just wished it would have looked darker.
