What’s cracking: McDonald’s Canada All Day Breakfast is here

Title

Ever wake up on a Saturday after a night out craving an Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s? You get out of bed, drive over to your closest location, and then find out that they already switched to their lunch menu since it’s 11:01 a.m. I think most of us have been there and can agree that it’s a huge bummer.

Well friends, starting today, those days are gone. Breakfast is now available 24 hours a day at participating McDonald’s Canada restaurants. So yes, that means you can grab an Egg McMuffin and hash brown at any hour; morning, noon or night.

Previously, their breakfast offerings were only available up until 11 a.m., which, if you were craving a Sausage McMuffin during your work lunch hour, you were out of luck. Now, they have an assortment of favourite items available 24 hours a day, every day. Items include Egg McMuffin, Bacon ‘n Egg McMuffin, Sausage ‘n Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin, Hash Brown, and Hotcakes (my childhood favourite). McDonald’s Canada also keeps it local by boasting one freshly cracked, Canada Grade A large egg in every McMuffin sandwich.

Hands In front of wall

And, to top it off, you can mix and match your favourite McDonald’s Canada menu items. So if you feel like a Big Mac and a Hash Brown, well, you do you girl, cause now you can.

In order to celebrate this major event, McDonald’s is raising their coffee cups and bringing back free coffee week from Monday, February 27 to Sunday, March 5. Stop by your local McDonald’s for a free small McCafé Premium Roast on them, no purchase necessary. McCafé Premium Roast coffee is a quality medium dark roast made from 100 per cent Arabica beans. Best of all, with every purchase of seven hot McCafé beverages, you can enjoy a medium hot beverage for free. Just a head’s up, the small cup (or you can upgrade to a larger size for an upcharge), includes the sticker as well.

Up close

Let me know which McDonald’s Canada breakfast item you’re most excited to have any time of the day. I may just be stopping off at McDonald’s on my way home from work today to grab an Egg McMuffin… maybe ;).

Please note, I am working with McDonald’s Canada for this post. All opinions are my own.

Flawless skin: New L’Oreal Paris Infallible face products for spring

Title

If I’m doing a quick makeup look, one of the items I always use is foundation. I have pretty good skin, but I like putting something on it just to even it out and make it look flawless.

I have a ton of different foundations in my collection, some high-end, others drugstore. Just because it costs a lot money doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s an amazing product. Although my all-time faves are Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able and NARS Sheer Glow, I also love the Maybelline Fit Me Matte foundation, which is super affordable and found at drugstores.

Anyways, this brings me to today’s post, talking about the new face products from L’Oreal Paris. I can’t recall the last foundation that I’ve tried from them, so I was super excited to dig into the new Infallible Total Cover Foundation, which is available in 12 different shades, from light to dark.

As the name says, this foundation promises a full coverage up to 24 hours with a lightweight feel and a natural finish. This creamy foundation is a little more heavy duty than its medium-coverage counterparts, but it blends instantly to cover dark spots, blemishes, scars, and hyper pigmentation for a perfect complexion.

Foundations

L’Oreal sent over four shades of this new foundation, 301, 302, 303, 304.  These are the lightest shades in the range and just looking at the packaging, it looks like they get dark quite fast. I originally tried out 302, then 303, then finally 304, before deciding that all the colours worked for me (don’t judge the foundation by its packaging).  I did put on self tanner earlier in the week, so I think that’s also part of the reason that 304 worked for my skin, otherwise I would probably stick with 302 or 303 for my winter complexion.

The texture of this foundation is quite thick, like a mousse consistency (not as think as Kat Von D’s Lock-It Tattoo Foundation though), and it blends out nicely to a powdery finish. Best of all, it doesn’t feel heavy. This foundation is actually formulated with highload pigments and is enriched with Alliagel.  Although I didn’t test it out for 24 hours, this foundation did stay put on my skin throughout the day, even through a workout.

Before and after

I would recommend this foundation for daytime wear, something you can wear to work or on the weekend. It doesn’t give you a glow, but there is an Infallible out there that delivers that feature. I love how comfortable it is and how it really does stick on your face throughout the day. Also, when used with the rest of my regime, it all held together, nothing faded away.

Palettes Color corrector

For the rest of the face, L’Oreal has also introduced a color correcting palette and blush palette under the Infallible line up.

The Infallible Total Colour Correcting Palette Kit is an all-in-one palette that colour corrects and neutralizes imperfections, giving you the perfect base for makeup application. There’s four creams in here that balances, corrects, and perfects complexion. The peach colour disguises dark circles, the yellow combats discolouration, green neutralizes redness, and purple brightens dullness.

I have a few different colour correcting palettes, and although I don’t really need these for my skin, I did give this one a go. I used the green around my nose and eye area to fade away any redness, and the peach under my eyes to brighten that up. I have found with other palettes that the green colour tends to stay green even when you blend it out, but that wasn’t the case with this one. The colour neutralized nicely into my skin, prepping it for foundation.

Blush palette

Also new is the Infallible Long Lasting Blush Palette Paint, which is a cheek palette with four blendable shades. I love blush palettes since they provide you with an assortment of colours in a space-saving palette. These guys, all in shades of pink, highlight, enhance and bring a pop of colour to your cheeks for a glowly look. The colour doesn’t go on too harshly, instead it blends out perfectly on your face for a nice glow. There is a mini brush included in the palette, but I just grabbed one of my many blush brushes to apply the colour.

Final 1 Final 2

I wore all these products out last Friday night to put them to the test. I ended up loving how my skin looked. You can’t really tell much with the colour corrector, but the foundation (304) and the blush make my skin look amazing and dewy. I would definitely check out your local drugstore to see these products up close and personal.

L’Oreal Paris has also released Infallible Lip Paints, which I did receive a selection of. Keep a look out for swatches of those coming up. They also have other great releases this season, like new skincare and the Colourista hair colour.

Let me know if you have tried out any of these new Infallible face products!

Smooth as silk: Mary Kay Glossy Lip Oils

Title I’m typically not a huge fan of lip glosses.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the finish on them and the colour, but a lot of them I find to be too sticky and just uncomfortable to wear. I don’t like the feeling of having something on my lips. I would rather apply a lip product and then forget about it.

When I heard that Mary Kay was launching some lip oils in their new spring Light, Reinvented collection, I thought this product would be like those oils you’ve been seeing all over Instagram that influencers apply before showing you a tutorial on how to make your lips look bigger using a lip liner and some matte liquid lipstick. Anyways, turns out these lip oils are actually glosses. Who knew?!

tips

Available in three spring shades, the limited-edition Glossy Lip Oil are a non-sticky lip gloss that provides you with shine, comfort, and colour. They are infused with grapeseed, avocado, and jojoba oils to condition lips and feed them with moisture. Colours include Brilliant Violet, Magenta Ray, and Sheer Pink.

The formula is housed in a squeeze tube and the product is dispensed onto an angled soft applicator so you apply it right from the tube. Two of the oils are pigmented, with Sheer Pink definitely being more on the sheer side, but it does leave you with a nice hint of colour.

Okay, so I know I said I don’t like most glosses, but I actually didn’t mind these. They are very comfortable to wear, they give you amazing colour, and I’m not too worried about how sticky my hair will be on a windy day. My favourite part of the whole experience is definitely the feeling you get when they are on. Lips feel moisturized, which is a must for the current winter weather.

Sheer Pink Brilliant Violet Magenta Ray

These retails for C$19 a piece through Mary Kay consultants. I really liked these, so if you’re a gloss girl, or even someone who doesn’t typically wear a lot of makeup, I think you’ll love these. They feel like a lip balm, but with some colour thrown in and some shine. What’s not to love?

Will you be trying the new Mary Kay Glossy Lip Oils?
