Think Pink! Alya Skin launches two new skincare products

When it comes to drugstore masks, I have always been a fan of Alya Skin’s Pink Perfect Clay Mask.

This mask, which is pink in colour (duh!), contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel and Kaolin Clay; a natural, Australian sourced ingredient enriched with detoxifying, pore-cleansing capacities.  I like to throw on this mask when I feel like my skin needs some detox and have also really enjoyed their other skincare products as well, especially the foaming cleanser.

Recently the Australian brand introduced two new items in their lineup, a serum and an eye cream.

Alya Pink Pearl Illuminating Eye Cream

First up is the Pink Pearl Illuminating Eye Cream (C$41.99), which helps to visibly brighten, smooth, and hydrate the delicate eye area.

This eye cream is pearly pink in tone, which also helps to colour correct if you have any dark circles and also creates a great canvas for makeup.  It contains Tasmanian sea kelp, aloe vera, strawberry gum, native snowflower, and caffeine.

In addition to brightening, it also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and improves skin elasticity.

Alya Vitamin C Supercharged Serum

Next up is the Vitamin C Supercharged Serum (C$41.99), which helps to brighten, plump, and increase collagen production, leaving you with younger-looking skin.

This serum contains a blend of kakadu plum, desert lime, finger lime caviar, and lilly pilly.  A lot of these ingredients are native to Australia and are full of Vitamin C to help brighten and even out skin tone.  Apply this serum morning and night after your eye cream to help reveal brighter skin that looks smoother, softer, and more supple.  If you suffer from dullness then this is right up your alley.  It also helps with keeping skin hydrated, glowy, and protected against the elements and pollution.

I love these two new additions to the Alya Skin line and think that they complement the other products in their range as well.  You can find Alya Skin at Shopper’s Drug Mart here in Canada.

Like a diamond: Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter

Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter I love a good highlighter moment.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Fenty Beauty’s powder highlighters. There is just something about the formula that makes your face pop and shine. Recently, the brand has released a liquid version of her iconic Killawatt highlighters and it’s everything you think it would be.

The Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter (C$36) is a liquid highlighter that  gives you a buildable finish while also nourishing skin. Available in five shades, this highlighter contains super-fine shimmer that you can build up for a custom shine. The formula is very light and settles on shine really nicely. It contains clay sage extract and innovative pearls for a dewy and luminous look.

Fenty Beauty Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter

The brand sent me two of the five shades to try out, Vintage Velour (platinum pink) and Hu$tla Baby 2.0 (peachy champagne). Both of these shades are highlighters that I would usually gravitate towards and I do have to say that I love the finish on these. I think they will be so perfect for summer time and I love how you can also add them into other products if you want to add a subtle shine to your skin (for instance in a body moisturizer).

If you love the Fenty powder highlighters then I think you’ll really love these. I recommend picking up a shade or two to have on hand for the warmer months and also to layer underneath a powder highlight for an ethereal glow.

Bright and balanced: Three skincare products you need to try now

I love trying out new skincare products, especially if it’s from brands that I use and love already.

I don’t know about you, but I can definitely start to feel that spring is around the corner. A little more sunlight, a few birds singing here and there, and more mild weather is all I need to help lift my spirits.  With that comes a change in my skincare routine.  For the most part I’m still using the same products, however, I’m rotating in more items to change it up and keep my skin looking bright and balanced.

I recently got in a few new items, all from brands I know and love, and if you are looking for some new things to try out then I think you’ll love what I chat about in today’s post.

Fenty Skin Pre-Show Glow

Fenty Skin Pre-Show Glow

I absolutely adore Fenty Beauty but I’ve never actually tried out anything from her skincare line, until now.

I recently got in the Fenty Skin Pre-Show Glow Instant Retexturing 10% AHA Treatment + Reusable Applicator (C$52), which is an exfoliating treatment that you use a couple times a week.

This product comes with the solution as well as a exfoliating towel, which is the applicator that you wrap around your hand so you can apply the product to the face.  The treatment includes 10 per cent AHAs, which help to fade the look of pores and dark spots and improve skin’s moisture content.  It contains a mix of glycolic, citric, and lactic acids to get deep into pores and leave you with bright and glowing skin.

The formula also includes rooibos, which are rich in AHAs and zinc, and helps to revitalize and renew the appearance of skin; as well as pomegranate, papaya, and cranberry enzymes to visibly digest, lift, and loosen damaged surface cells.

Ideal for any skin type, this product helps with dark spots, dullness, and uneven texture. It’s also cruelty free and vegan.

I really like this product and it’s unlike anything I have in my collection.  I like to use it one to to times a week to help brighten up my skin.  You just pour the solution on the towel it comes with and then work it into your skin for about a minute, then rinse.

Tula Bright Start Brightening Vitamin C Moisturizer

Tula Bright Start Brightening Vitamin C Moisturizer

I absolutely adore Tula’s moisturizers, so whenever they release a new one I’m always so excited to try it out.

Brand new is the Bright Start Brightening Vitamin C Moisturizer ($54 USD).  This moisturizer contains Vitamin C, mandarin orange, and transexamic acid to brighten the skin and improve the appearance of dull skin and dark marks.

The formula is a gel cream texture and comes in a pump bottle, making this nice and clean to apply.  In addition to the ingredients mentioned above, it also includes the brand’s S6Pro Complexing, which is a blend of six probiotics and prebiotic extracts to help improve skin’s smoothness and maintain skin balance.  It also has Japanese mandarin, yuzu, and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and improve the look of uneven skin tone and texture, as well as wild butterfly ginger for antioxidant protection.

Tula also sells this moisturizer as a set ($82 USD, valued at $102) with their Brightening Treatment Drops Triple Vitamin C Serum. The Brightening Treatment Drops target and help reduce the appearance of dark spots, while boosting skin’s overall radiance. Apply the drops first and then go in with the moisturizer for bright and hydrated skin.

Mary Kay Clinical Solutions Boosters

Mary Kay Clinical Solutions Boosters

If you are looking for an extra boost in your skincare routine, then take a look at Mary Kay’s new Clinical Solutions Boosters.

These boosters are comprised of a highly potent dose of scientifically acclaimed skincare ingredients and the formulas are specially designed to complement your current skin routine.

First up is the C+ Resveratrol Line Reducer, which helps with wrinkle reduction. You apply these products after your toner and before your serum and moisturizer.  This particular one contains the brand’s highest concentrations of vitamin c and resveratrol, which is a highly potent antioxidant that is known to fight visible signs of skin aging and protect the skin’s surface.

This is great if your skincare routine is focused on anti-aging since it contains targeted ingredients to help fight sign’s of aging.  In addition to Vitamin C and resveratrol, it also has acetyl hexapeptide-8, which is a special peptide designed to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

If you need some extra moisture in your skin, take a look at the Clinical Solutions HA+ Ceramide Hydrator, which supports skin’s barrier and hydrates.

This booster contains two forms of hyaluronic acid to combat dry skin, as well as ceramide to improve skin hydration and supports normal barrier function. It also has verbena officinalis extract which also improves skin hydration, as well as its barrier function, helping to protect skin from environmental stressors and water loss.

These boosters retail for C$42 each and are a great addition to add to your skincare routine.

I’m really excited to keep incorporating these items into my daily skincare lineup.  Like I said, I love rotating products in and out and all of these make for great bonuses to add into my routine.
