Wide eyes: Eye makeup staples from Estee Lauder

Let me tell you something, it feels really nice to apply makeup again.

After a year of barely putting on makeup, whenever I have to opportunity to do so, I get so excited and have so much fun applying it. Last week I blogged about the Estee Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Makeup SPF 45, which I was sent last month for their spring makeup masterclass. Along with the foundation they also sent a variety of all stars to create the perfect spring neutral look. Luckily for me, I haven’t tried any of them.

First up is their Pure Color Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Color Palette (C$63) in Defiant Nude.  This palette contains five eyeshadows in both matte and shimmer formulations.  This palette has all nude shades, which is my kind of palette since you can either wear it as a day or night look.

This shadow opens up five shadows that are in a creamy formal that glides on the lids and blends out wonderfully. This palette is a good one to have in your collection since it’s such a versatile one and with these shades there are so many ways to wear it.

I do think though that at $63, this is on the pricey side, but I would compare it in price point and formula to Dior and Charlotte Tilbury since both brands offer up five colour palettes that are on the more expensive side of things. I have many palettes in my collection that come with more shadows and perform just as well.  With Estee Lauder though, you are paying for the quality and the iconic name and brand, so the price definitely meets the prestige of this product.

Next up is the Little Black Liner eyeliner (C$42).  This liquid eyeliner is a double-ended product with a fine tip on one side and a thicker one on the other.  The really cool thing about this liner is the fact that you can use it three ways.  Use either the ultra-fine tip to define the eyes with precision, or the other end where you can use the flat wedge to create a line, or the thicker side to add drama.

I really like this eyeliner and it’s perfect for creating a cat eye effect, especially if you mess it up often (we have all been there). I find the thinner side perfect for creating the wing, and then the thicker side to fill it in.  This liner is also waterproof, smudge-proof, and flake-proof.  Unlike the eyeshadow palette, which I feel is a little expensive for only five shades, at only $42, I would definitely pick this one up since I love the two-in-one feature and the colour goes on smoothly, is very dark, and doesn’t smudge.  It’s a total winner.

Finally, you can’t do an eye look without some mascara!

Estee Lauder sent over their Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara (C$37), which is a mascara aimed at adding length to the lash.

This mascara is billed to create volume, lift, and curves to an out-of-this-world lash effect.  The formula includes three high-volume fibres in a mousse-light texture.  Estee Lauder says that it acts like lash extensions, multiplying and elongating the lash.  It also has a conditioning lash-advancing vitamin complex to nourish lashes.

As for the brush, the BrushComber Extreme wand has two types of bristles, including flexible fibres to give a maximum amount of formula, as well as solid fibres to comb and separate lashes for definition.

I have heard raving reviews about this mascara but I didn’t really feel like it made my lashes look any better than the mascaras I swear by already.  My lashes definitely looked noticeable but I’ve used other mascaras which made them look more long and voluminous.  But hey, everyone’s lashes are different and a lot of girls in the call really swore by this mascara.  If there is one thing I have learned while blogging about beauty, it’s that these products all work differently for everyone since we all have different hair and skin.

Now don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed all three products and feel like they work really nice together (especially since our eyes aren’t getting covered up nearly as much as the bottom of our faces).  Out of the three products though, the eyeliner is my top choice and feel like it will be a mainstay for my makeup routine this summer.

Have you tried any of these Estee Lauder eye beauty products?
