Sweet and musky: Three scents you need this fall

As I said in my Pinesol post a couple weeks back, we all associate scents with certain memories. My winter fragrances are more heavy and musky, spring is light and airy, summer is fruity or sweet, and fall is the perfect balance between the two seasons.

Typically I tend to gravitate towards muskier, woodsy scents (I always find The Body Shop has great fragrances that reflect the notes I look for each season), but sometimes, when the sun is shining and the leaves on the ground are a beautiful orange and red, I find myself spraying something a little more on the lighter side.

I have an abundance of perfumes but wanted to share with you three of the ones I’m totally digging this season.

Acqua di Parma Colonia Pura

Acqua Di Parma Colonia Pura

Okay, so this one is technically a men’s cologne, but I find you can easily transcend this on a woman’s body. If your man does decide to wear it, be prepared to snuggle right up since it contains crisp and sunny bergamot (my personal fave), orange notes, floral notes of narcissus and jasmine, with spicy tones of coriander (I know, totally unexpected). Expect accent of patchouli and cedar wood, with finally, white musk notes.

To me, this scent is very fresh and woodsy. It has that certain richness that emits while you stroll through the beauty counters at Nordstrom, per se. It’s the perfect thing for your man – or you – to wear as you stroll through a crisp autumn day.

Pick it up at Sephora for C$116.

Viva La Juicy la Glace

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy la Glace

I’m a complete sucker for anything Viva La Juicy, so when I saw they released a new fragrance this past summer, I needed to get my hands – and nose – on it.

Viva La Juicy Glace comes in the same bottle design as the original, but this time it’s frosted a white and silver iridescent shade with feather detailing on the bow (I always LOVE the look of their bottles). This fragrance is the perfect balance between cool and warm as it opens with freshness thanks to mandarin and juicy pear, then experience jasmine petals with vanilla and sandalwood to give your senses the ultimate cozy cool down.

This one to me is very similar to the original Viva La Juicy (which is probably why I love it so much). At first sniff it’s very sweet, but comforting. As you wear it, your mood instantly lifts because of its happy, airy scent.

Give it a whiff at Hudson’s Bay where it retails for C$89.

Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau So Decadent

Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau So Decadent

Speaking of bottle design, I’ve always wanted Marc Jacobs Decadence based solely on the bottle alone. That perfume is housed in a bottle that looks like a handbag, chain as the handle included.  Earlier this year, the luxury clothing and beauty brand released a new fragrance to the line up, Decadence Eau So Decadent.

This scent, which comes in the same kind of handbag bottle, features a top in a green, pink, and black snakeskin print (dying over it). The scent tends to lean more towards the floral side of things thanks to notes of lily of the valley, white amber, but there’s also nashi pear to round things out leaving you with a scent that will truly entice anyone’s senses.

You can definitely smell both florals and fruits in here, however, I definitely smell a little cotton in here as well, although the brand doesn’t mention it as a note.  I would pick this up for the bottle alone, but the scent inside it is pretty decadent as well (no pun intended).

Pick it up at Sephora for C$83.

All three of these fragrances are newer in the beauty world, but if you have a favourite fall scent, I would love to know what it is in the comments.

Please note, this set was sent by PR. All opinions are my own.
