Smooth & sudsy: Three skincare lines you need for moisturized skin

Okay, so if there is one item I can never have too much of, it’s skincare. Although it may encapsulate a lot of different products, I tend to hoard moisturizers and body washes.

The way I think of it is that both of these items are staples. You need body wash, whether that’s a bar of soap or a liquid, no matter the price or brand, and you need a moisturizer, especially with the chilly Winnipeg weather.

Lately I’ve been trying out a bunch of different brands inside and outside my shower and really have been looking forward to shower time and bed time, when I apply my moisturizer.

Here are my current top three choices for fall…

Le Petit Marseillais Body Wash

Le Petit Marseillais Body Wash

Le Petit Marseillais is an iconic French body wash that launched 30 years ago but has been gaining traction here in Canada as of late. Available in five scents, this gel body wash gently cleanses your skin while the light and easy-to-rinse foam delivers an amazing fragrance.

You can find these in the drugstore, meaning that they are quite reasonable priced. I have the White Peach and Nectarine, as well as the Lavender Honey one, and find them both quite pleasant in the shower. These suds up nicely and leave my skin feeling fresh and refreshed. Plus, you know, the fact that they are French just adds that extra touch of fancy.

Glossier Body Hero

Glossier Body Hero Duo

I proclaimed my love for Glossier a month or so back on here, so when I saw that they came out with a body skincare line (and a powerful marketing campaign to go with it), I had to have it.

Inspired by oil cleansers and rich cream, Body Hero, available as a body wash and moisturizer, cleans, hydrates, and enhances skin. The Daily Oil Wash is made with a blend of seven oils that clean your body while also nourishing it.  The Daily Perfecting Cream is applied after the shower and dries down into your skin quickly so you don’t feel filmy. It also has light-reflecting particles, leaving you with an instant glowy sheen.

I really like the moisturizer from this line, however, as a gal who loves a body wash that soaps up, this one falls short.  Three pumps of the Daily Oil Wash into my loofa and I’m wondering if there is any product in there.  This doesn’t really suds up (it does slightly), which I guess makes sense since it’s an oil (it contains Coconut, Meadowfoam, Olive, and Soybean Oils; Sesame Oil; Grapeseed Oil; Sunflower Seed Oil; and Orange Blossom Neroli Oil). Both of these products also have that powdery deodorant smell to them, so if you don’t fancy that scent (I don’t mind it, but I certainly don’t love it), you may not like these. The Daily Perfecting Cream is awesome though since it doesn’t make you feel tacky and gross when you apply it. It dries down quite quickly, so you’ll have no problems getting dressed right out of the shower.

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin line

The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin line

I was really excited to try out Body Hero, but I was even more excited to get my hands (and nose) on The Body Shop’s new Vanilla Pumpkin line.

Comprised of four items (body butter, hand lotion, shower gel, and shimmer mist), this line smells just like fall. Think of it as a PSL for your skin (just try not to actually eat the product).

I got the body butter, hand cream, and shower gel and have been sniffing — er using — them nonstop. Although I’m not really a huge fan of the texture of The Body Shop’s body butters since I find they don’t really dry down as fast as I would like them to, I’ve put that sentiment aside and have been slathering myself in this every night (well okay, I alternate between this and Body Hero). I also love the size of the hand lotion since it’s small enough to toss in a clutch, so you can have that vanilla pumpkin smell accompanying you everywhere you go.

I was never really that much into skincare in the past, but since so many amazing products are coming out with so many different benefits, it’s definitely my new jam. What are your favourite skincare items and brands?

Please note, I was sent these products from PR. All opinions are my own.
