Seashells and smooth lips: Tarte Cosmetics Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue

If there is one product I always have to have on me at all times, it’s a lip product. Depending on the shade I’m wearing, I’ll often carry that as well as a lip balm since my lips always have the tendency to get dry (I literally have a lip balm in every room of my condo).  I’m not really that picky when it comes to the brand of lip balm, but sometimes I’ll come across one that really blows me away. Right now it’s the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue.

These moisturizing lip balms that come in a variety of different shades (eight to be exact, including a clear), help stop lips from showing the signs of aging while also providing intense nourishment and moisture. There are seven different shades that add a slight tint to your lips and they are also infused with an antioxidant and vitamin-rich lip quencher that contains a blend of essential extracts and oils which keep your lips oh so soft. The product literally glides on your lips and give you an ultra-glossy look, while the feel is somewhat similar to the texture of Vaseline. These are supposed to help restore the appearance of lips softness, moisture, and elasticity that’s reduced over time while providing a protective antioxidant barrier against daily aggressors.

I received four shades of these (I also had one in my collection previously – which I love!), Clear, Buff, Coral, and Cherry. Although the colour looks bold in the tube it’s actually quite sheer, more like a tint than anything. The product literally glides on your lips and is super comfortable to wear. It also lasts on your lips for a long time.

These have a slight mint scent to it so I love rocking these. If you aren’t into colour, definitely pick up the clear one since you can carry it anywhere you go (although the rest of the colours are very sheer, so the colour really isn’t that noticeable). As for the packaging, they come housed in a mermaid-like container which is made of cardboard (so be careful with getting these wet). Since the texture of the balm is so soft, I would definitely recommend not leaving this somewhere that gets too hot since it will melt. Also, since it’s so tender, you may find that you use the product up quite quickly. There really isn’t a lot of balm in the tube (0.10 oz.), so with constant wear (and really, who doesn’t apply a lip balm everyday, even every few hours), you run the risk of running out of this quite fast.

Overall, I love these Quench Lip Rescues. They retail for C$23 each, which is pricey for a lip balm, but if you’re looking for something special and really does the trick of keeping your lips moisturized, I would pick one up.

Have you tried Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescues? What were your thoughts?
