The rooted trend: Flash giveaway with Clairol

Title Prior to going blonde a couple weeks ago, I was loving my ombre.  I’ve been ombre for a while now and always felt like the trend was just so flattering.

Ombre’s been around for quite some time, and what originally just started as a trend, is now a bonafide hair staple.  I think it’s safe to say that ombre is sticking around.  The thing about it is that it’s been evolving. There’s more than one way to do it now, and it’s something that you don’t need to necessarily go to the salon to get anymore, you can do it home.

Clairol has a new way for you to achieve that carefree look celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kylie Jenner are rocking called “rooted” hair.  This is where the roots are darker than the rest of the hair colour – on purpose!

The “rooted” trend is a progression from the Balayage technique; your hair is freshly coloured yet designed to look grown out, creating that naturally carefree style. This technique can be used on new or slightly grown out highlights, and you don’t need to head to the salon to get it, you can try it right at home with Clairol.

Being a part of the P&G Beauty United program, we get access to all sorts of tips and tricks.  Clairol colour director James Corbett recommends leaving out a one-inch section around the hairline to keep existing face-framing highlights, or you can use Nice ‘n Easy Hairpainting first to create face-framing highlights.  Then, clip that section out of the way.  Apply your chosen Natural Instincts shade to the first two-to-three inches of your hair from the root, excluding the section you clipped out in the front. Do not work down the hair shaft.  Then, process for 10 minutes and rinse. Shampoo the ends only, so excess colour does not made from your rooms. Condition your whole head, dry your hair, and you’re done.

To show of your new amazing hair, you can either wear it in loose curls (my personal fave), or sport it in a half-up top knot (so on trend right now!).

Okay, so since I totally want one lucky reader to sport this trend, I’m giving away a six-month supply of Clairol coupons so you can pick up a new shade to suit your hair.  Here’s the catch, it’s a quick contest since these coupons expire at the end of the month (December 31, 2015), therefore, contest closes on December 9, 2015.  Open to Canadian residents only!

Good luck!
