Pop art: Andy Warhol-inspired look feat. New York Color
I think that when you say the name “Andy Warhol”, one thing comes to mind: pop art. This form of art is so iconic and really represents an important movement in art history.
This month’s New York Color challenge was to unleash our inner Andy Warhol and be inspired by the art and era to create an eye-popping, vibrant makeup look.
Being part of the New York Color Beauty Pro program, we get sent a box of goodies every month that helps us to create whatever challenge they throw us. This month’s box was all about colour and included three of their Expert Last Lip Colors (which are amazing by the way) in three bright shades; three of the City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadows; and the HD Trio Eyeshadow in Streets Paved with Gold.
Andy Warhol’s art is all about colour, so for this look I chose to do a bright fuchsia lip with a neutral eye and a pop of colour underneath.
First I laid down the City Proof 24Hr Waterproof Eyeshadow in 6th Avenue Gold Rush all over the lids, then with the middle colour from the HD Trio Eyeshadow in Streets Paved in Gold, I lightly dusted this into the crease. Using the bottom colour from the trio, I swiped this all over the lid, the popped the lightest colour in the inner corner. With the white City Proof eyeshadow (Rockefellar Center Snowflakes), I put this along my brow bone to highlight. To finish up the eyes, I did a black cat eye with the Madison Square Park City Proof eyeshadow (the green one) along my lower lash line. For the lips I used Expert Last Lip Color in Forever Fuchsia.
This particular challenge was a lot of fun to do since I’ve always been a huge fan of Warhol’s work (in fact, I want to get a photo done of Ziggy in pop art fashion). I totally think this look is very wearable and still plays a nice homage to the era.
How do you do pop art?
