Lip love: Sephora Marsala Layering Lip Collection

Title Can we just talk about Sephora’s Marsala collection for a moment here.

Although there are a bunch of standout items in this year’s Pantone Color of the Year offerings, my favourite is definitely the Lip Layering Collection (C$35), which includes five chubby cream lip pencils that you can wear separately or together to create a custom colour or ombre look.

This set of natural shades complement Marsala (including one that is the Color of the Year), and are totally reminiscent of the Marc Jacobs Kiss Pop Lip Color Sticks. The lip colours are creamy and contain hyaluronic filling spheres for plumping, as well as hydration and long-term anti-aging benefits.

Since each shade is neutral, it was love at first sight when I saw this set.  There is one pale nude in here, but the rest are brown or red-toned nudes. I found most of the colours to be creamy, with Rose Dawn being the most matte, and the glossiest being Marsala (this one had a noticeable difference in texture). In terms of wear, they do have great pigment to them for my lips, the longevity is the best, but I certainly don’t mind pulling out the rose gold tube very once in a while to reapply.

I haven’t done the whole layering thing with these because they are great on their own. Sephora also has a matte lip creme in Marsala as a stand-alone product (C$23), but for $12 more, I would just grab this set, as you still get the coveted Marsala shade, as well as four more complementary colours (which are all Pantone shades).

If you can still find this in your local Sephora store (it’s sold out online), I would grab it.  In fact grab two, because the chic packaging on this makes it a great gift.

Will you be picking up the Sephora + Pantone Layering Lip Collection?
