That time I met Katy Perry… The Prismatic World Tour Hits Winnipeg

Prismatic title

This past Tuesday was one of the most puuuurfect nights ever.

I had the opportunity to attend Katy Perry’s Prismatic World Tour when it made a stop here at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.  Since I’m part of the P&G Beauty United program and Katy Perry is a CoverGirl spokeswoman, I was gifted the tickets, plus four pairs to give away.  But then it got better my friends.  I found out from my friends at P&G that I would be getting meet and greet passes for me, my guest, and all my winners.  To say I was excited was an understatement.

Although I’m not a die-hard Katy Perry fan, I would say I am a pretty big lover of her music.  I had her Prism album streaming all day, everyday at work when it first came out, plus I love her girl-next-door attitude.  She just seems so down to earth, plus her fun music videos make her seem like such a cool chick.

When she was announced as a new spokesperson for CoverGirl about a year ago I was so excited because I thought that her fun attitude and persona could really bring some youthfulness to the brand.  Then, they released the InstaGlam line, and I knew they hit gold with her.

So this brings me to Tuesday, when my guest Rose and I hit the MTS Centre early to get our meet and greet passes from Katy’s tour manager, who told us that the 10 passes I got were the only meet and greets happening in Winnipeg. Not gonna lie, we felt pretty damn special. And, to make it even more special, there were two moms who brought their little girls, who were HUGE Katy Perry fans.  I think the majority of us were most excited to see how the little girls were going to react when they found out they were going to meet their idol.

We headed downstairs to the Prismatic Lounge around 8 p.m. during the opening acts.  Before though, we made sure to stop by the CoverGirl booth, where Katy’s manager was so kind to hold the line so we could all get our photos taken (#VIP y’all), he also gifted us with some new CoverGirl swag (two of the Colorlicious glosses – which I was so excited to try – and one of their new XL Nail Gels).  We hung out in the futuristic lounge (complete with glowing chairs) for about 20 to 25 minutes taking pictures, chatting, and just getting excited to meet Katy Perry.  Her manager got the five minute warning and we all lined up waiting for her arrival as she came through the side, complete with like a 10-person entourage (which included her mom).  I was first to get my photo taken and the first thing she said to me was a comment on my cat dress from H&M (when I found out I was going, I already had my outfit all planned out).  She shook everyone’s hand, gave us a hug, then took a photo.  I commented on her hair and she said it was a weave.  It was a special moment indeed.  In total, the whole “meet and greet” part probably lasted about three minutes as she had to take the stage right away.

After, we headed back upstairs and took our seats, which were right beside the stage, waiting for Katy to bust out Roar, the first song during the concert.

I’m not going to do a full review of the show, but she puts on a good one.  She sang all her hits, plus a lot of tunes from the Prism album.  I was battling a sore throat, so although I wanted to bust it out for every song, I had to hold back. The Prismatic Show, on the other hand, well, it was quite the spectacle. The stage was shaped in a diamond going out into the audience, so she could really get out there and interact with her fans.  CoverGirl had branded “Prism-view” glasses, where, when you put them on, transformed the show into an optically amazing experience.

Overall, it was an amazing show, plus the fact that we got to meet her made it a night that I – as well as the nine others who were there – will never forget.  A HUGE thanks goes out to P&G, CoverGirl, Jenn, Dave, and Katy Perry’s people for making this happen – and for making two little girls’ dream come true.

Enjoy the photos!
