Sleek + sparkly: MoroccanOil Treatment 10-year anniversary limited-edition bottle

Last week I got the most beautiful thing in the mail.

In honour of the 10-year anniversary of the cult-classic MoroccanOil, the brand has released a limited-edition Swarovski-adorned bottle of the original MoroccanOil Treatment. The glass bottle, which comes housed in a collector’s keepsake box, is covered with nearly 1,000 hand-placed luxurious turquoise crystals, which trickle from the cap and bottleneck down to the body of the bottle.

Retailing for $165 (not sure if this is US or Canadian pricing), the formula is the same inside the bottle. It’s the beloved oil treatment that we all know and love, and which started a revolution 10 years ago.  In case you haven’t tried MoroccanOil, this oil can be used as a conditioning, styling, and finishing tool.  The formula is infused with antioxidant-rich organ oil and shine-boosting vitamins, which you can apply to your hair while it is damp or dry. The oil helps detangle hair, speeds up drying time, and boosts shine, leaving you with nourished, manageable, and smooth hair.

Moroccanoil Original Treatment 11 year anniversary

Of course I’ve used MoroccanOil in the past, and since argan oil is such a thing now, I’ve tried out many others brands of the formula as well. The thing is, I find that no one does it better than the OG, and since the release of their argan oil, they have come out with so many other products to add to the line.

This item is the epitome of “extra”, but hey, I cannot stress enough how dazzling and beautiful this bottle looks. In fact, I’m having a hard time deciding if I want to keep it in it’s luxurious blue box (which has my name plate on it), or if I want to display it on my vanity. Obviously I think the latter choice will win out, but there is no way I want to throw out that box.

At $165, the price for this is quite steep, but guys, it’s so beautiful, and if you love the original formula, or are a hairstylist, then I would recommend picking this up. It’s so beautiful, I don’t even want to use it (although I can totally refill it once it’s empty).

This is only available for a limited time, so put some serious thought into picking it up!

Will you pick up the limited-edition Swarovski MoroccanOil treatment?

Smooth + summery: Why you need to try out Marc Anthony haircare

So a couple weeks back I got invited to an event with Kiss lashes to watch the Oscars in Toronto. I was actually already in town anyways, so the timing was perfect and the night started at the Marc Anthony salon in Yorkville.

I had been familiar with Marc Anthony products, but haven’t really used them at all since I have so many haircare products laying around and let’s be honest, unless I’m dying to try it, I usually won’t pick it up since I don’t need anything new (you should see my closet, I don’t think I can fit another haircare product in there…).

We started at the salon since we each got our hair dry styled and the stylist chose to do some really pretty curls with my hair.  I couldn’t help but notice that he would spray each section of hair before curling it and the hairspray he was using smelled amazing.

Fast-forward to last week when the brand was so kind to send through a ton of their haircare products to try out since I just couldn’t get over the smell of that Argan Oil hairspray that he was using at the salon.  If you aren’t familiar with Marc Anthony Haircare, no it’s not the former Mr. JLO Marc Anthony, the haircare Marc Anthony is a hairstyling champion and best of all, the products are sold at drugstores, meaning that they are super affordable.

Marc Anthony haircare Coconut Butter shampoo and conditioner for blondes

I recently touched up my blonde and since it got super brassy last time around, I’ve been really careful to use only products that will help my colour look vibrant, so I was excited that I received the Brightening Coconut Butter Shampoo and Conditioner for blondes. This duo features a purple shampoo and a brightening conditioner, which makes it perfect to use for my freshly-dyed blonde hair.  Both products contain coconut butter and chamomile, which cleanses, hydrates, and repairs dryness and gives you that sun-kissed blonde colour.  It helps to brighten your locks, while also providing you with anti-brassiness. Best of all, this stuff smells just like summer since the coconut scent lingers in the shower.

Once I’m out of the shower, I put in my usual split end tamer, then reach for the Volume Cocktail to give you thick and full-looking hair.  There is actually two products in here that you can use together or separate. There is a volumizing cream that will help plump those strands, as well as a root lift souffle, which you can massage into your roots to give it some extra volume.  Marc Anthony also has a few other cocktail products, including Smoothing Cocktail for sleek & straight hair, Beach Waves for texture & volume, and Curl Cocktail to defrizz and define curls.

Marc Anthony Smoothing Cocktail and Volume Cocktail Marc Anthony Argan Oil line of products

After that, I like to spray in the Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Treatment before blow drying, which will give you stronger, shinier, and healthy hair.  Once my hair is dry, I’ll usually bust out my curling wand and after spray it with that amazing Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Extra-Hold Hairspray for Fast Drying, which smells amazing, doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy, and holds my curls wonderfully. As a result, my hair is left shiny and looks healthy.  Marc Anthony also has a mousse in this formula and a shampoo and conditioner, which if you have damaged hair, I would totally look into.

These are pretty much the only hair products I’ve been using since I got them last week. Since I have a million hair products already, something really has to impress me to get me to switch from my tried-and-true favourites, and I have to say, I’ve been really impressed with how these products make my hair look and feel.  I highly recommend the Coconut Butter shampoo and conditioner for blondes, and of course that hairspray, since it smells amazing.  Best of all, every item runs for under C$10, so it’s a total score!

Fake & fabulous: Esqido Unisyn collection lashes

When it comes to false lashes, there are usually two categories. Synthetic, which are typically made for a few uses before you can throw them out, and mink, which are more expensive, usually of a higher quality, and have a higher usage rate.

But what if you don’t like the idea of wearing mink lashes?

I personally don’t have a problem with it, but I know there are loads of people out there who don’t like wearing animal products.  Companies say that they use mink that naturally falls off the animal, but I get it, everyone has their beliefs and I totally respect that.

But that doesn’t mean that you want a lesser-quality lash.

Well ladies and gents, Esqido has heard your concerns and they are coming out with a new collection of lashes that are synthetic, but still are a higher quality than a $5 lash.

Esqido Unisyn lashes

Introducing Unisyn, a collection of lashes which are handcrafted with a superior blend of ultra-fine fibres, joined together by a soft and flexible cotton band. As a result, you get a weightless and natural-looking lash.

Esqido’s PR team was so kind and sent me three pairs of their new lashes (in total, there are 10 different styles to chose from) along with the companion glue (which I talked about here).  Although there was marketing material with the package, unfortunately there was no pricing info mentioned. They recently announced yesterday on their Instagram that these lashes are official launching on March 28, 2018. They are also doing giveaways, so take a look on their IG to enter.

The styles they sent me were Heart & Soul, a wispy lash; PB&J, a wearable lash with volume; and Naughty & Nice, a night-out full-glamour lash. The packaging on these lashes are also different from the regular Esqido packaging. Instead of a plush box, these are in a plastic container with a clear lid and a marble backing with rose-gold lettering.  A little cheaper-quality on the packaging, but still very cute and would look displayed on a vanity.

I couldn’t wait to try these out, so since I was doing date night this past Saturday I popped on Heart & Soul. I did a really basic eye with no liner for a more natural look. At first I did use the Esqido companion glue, however, one of the lashes came off, so I swapped it out for the Kiss lash glue (the companion glue held up for one eye though).

At first thoughts, I was actually really impressed with this lash.  The band isn’t too thick, so it’s very comfortable to wear and if you can get it really close to the lash line, you don’t even see it (seriously, these looked so natural on).

Heart & Soul really is a beautiful lash since it’s so subtle, so it looks like your normal lashes. I usually have to do a liner with falsies since the band is noticeable, but this wasn’t the case with these.  Also, because I wear contact lenses, I find that false lashes tend to irritate my eyes, however, I wore these all night and didn’t have a problem.

Compared to the regular mink lashes that Esqido produces, I did find these to be way more comfortable and lightweight.  Of course, since they are synthetic, I don’t expect them to last as long as the more expensive mink ones, but I’m going to assume that these will retail for less. Keep your eyes on the Esqido site on March 28 to order a pair. If you have a hard time finding the perfect lash for you, I would definitely look into this line when it launches.

What’s your favourite false lash brand?
