Flawless face: New CoverGirl TruBlend face products

One of my favourite drugstore brands is coming out with some new face products.

It was love at first sight when CoverGirl came out with their TruBlend Matte Made foundation last year (I even went to their Canadian launch party in Toronto!). The matte full-coverage foundation offers up an impressive 40 shades, making it possible to find your perfect match, no matter the skin tone.  Although they had the TruBlend It’s Lit Concealer to go with it, the makeup brand recently came out with another concealer this month which gives you full coverage for even the most darkest circles and blemishes.

CoverGirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer

CoverGirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer (C$10.99) comes in an impressive 30 shades to match 99 per cent of skin tones and is geared to conceal, shape, and brighten the skin. It covers blemishes, dark circles, redness, and more thanks to it’s full-coverage formula. It also doesn’t crease and lasts on your face all day (and trust me, I put it to the test last Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.).

At first glance, this concealer looks a lot like the cult-favourite Tarte Shape Tape. It’s a thicker container and has a very similar doe foot applicator that allows you to apply the product generously to the skin. I would say this concealer is full coverage but I have other ones that are definitely more full (I tend to find the thicker the concealer, the more true full coverage it is). For C$11 though, you can’t beat that price and this stuff does a heck of a great job covering up anything that needs some camouflaging.

CoverGirl TruBlend Base Business Primers in Hydrating and Mattifying

For under the makeup, CoverGirl will be releasing two new formulas to its Base Business Primer line. Already available in Skin Smoothing, Pore Minimizing, and Illuminating, brand-new to family is Mattifying and Hydrating, both of which will be available in June 2019 (SRP C$14.99).

The Mattifying Base Business Primer contains kaolin clay to help absorb oils and control shine.  This primer is great for oily skin since it will help tame down any oil on the face and leave your face matte as a base for your foundation.

Also new is the Hydrating Base Business Primer, which contains coconut water to help moisturize dry skin. Both primers are lightweight in texture and glide on the skin smoothly. I also want to note that unlike their predecessors, they are both white in colour and then dry down clear (the other ones also dried clear but acted as a colour corrector as well).

CoverGirl TruBlend Minerals powders

Finally, to finish up the face, take a look at their new TruBlend Loose Powders (SRP C$14.99) also to be released in June 2019, which is an ultra-fine powder with a mattifying finish. These powders, available in seven shades including banana and translucent, are very lightweight on the skin and help to set makeup.

CoverGirl sent over both the banana and translucent shades to try out with the other new face products and altogether, everything worked amazing with each other. The open up to a sifter packaging and it also includes a little pouf to go with it. I didn’t actually use the pouf, but instead dumped some of the product into the lid and then used my sponge to help bake my makeup.

Before and After using CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made Foundation, Undercover Concealer and Powders

As you can see in the photo above, my makeup looks flawless and my skin is matte and powerless. Discoloration, redness, you name it is all gone and best of all, this makeup look lasted alllllll day.

I was already a huge fan of the TruBlend Matte Made and with these new face products, it makes it super easy to create a flawless face on a total budget.  Definitely take a look for these products next month in drugstores since I know you’ll love them as much as I do.

Are you a fan of CoverGirl? What are you most excited to try out?

Bronzed and glowy: Dior Beauty Wild Earth bronzers and Lolli’Glow Luminizers

There are a few makeup brands off the top of my head that I associate with luxury.  Dior Beauty is one of them.

Any time I receive a new Dior Beauty product it’s such a highlight in my day since the items are just so beautiful and, you know, it’s Dior. So when a few pieces from their summer Wild Earth and Lolli’Glow collections came in last week I pretty much ripped open the envelope to dive in.

The Wild Earth collection consists of powders, eyeshadows, liners, nail polishes, lip products, and more, and the colour tone is very warm. Honestly, it all reminds me of an African safari the way there are so many coppers, gold, and brown tones throughout. Since it’s a very earthy collection, naturally there is a line of bronzers in here, making it perfect to achieve the perfect summer skin.

DiorSkin Mineral Nude Bronze Wild Earth

The DiorSkin Mineral Nude Bronze Wild Earth is a limited-edition bronzing powder in two different shades designed to give you a healthy glow. The product is housed in a beautiful silver-domed case (which comes in a velvet pouch) with “Nude” embossed onto the powder itself. Seriously, it’s one of those products that are too beautiful to use.  But hey, at C$61 each, when you spend that kind of cash on a beauty product, you don’t want it to go to waste.

This powder is infused with golden minerals and helps to give you the perfect summertime glow. The colour isn’t harsh at all, but instead goes on soft and leaves you with a finish that looks natural and reflects light off of the skin. It’s definitely more of a natural bronzer and the formula just glides on the skin for a luxurious look, making you look naturally tanned.

As mentioned, there are two shades to choose from, 001 Soft Terra (light bronze) and 002 Warm Terra (deep bronze), making it easy to choose your perfect shade.  These are buildable colours, so both actually worked for me depending on how hard I applied these.

Diorskin Nude Luminizer Lolli'Glow Powders

To complete the cheeks, swipe on one of the new Diorskin Nude Luminizer Lolli’Glow Powders, which are powder illuminators which give you summer-ready skin thanks to an iridescent sheen.

These powders, available in two shades (007 Peach Delight and 008 Pink Delight), enhance your features thanks to its multidimensional glow. The formula contains pearlescent pigments that bounce off the skin for a beautiful finish.

These highlights come in similar packaging to the bronzers and also feature that stunning “Nude” detailing embossed in the powder itself. These are also on the pricier side and definitely a real treat for whoever picks them up.  I love both shades, since they are beautiful in the packaging, as well as applied. Peach Delight is a light and pearly peach pink, whereas Pink Delight is a light and pearly petal pink. If you are looking for a lighter highlight, then I would take a look at Pink Delight, whereas Peach Delight reminds me a lot of NARS Orgasm (although in a highlight, not a blush).

I love these products and think every detail of them are so luxurious. Are the the best bronzers and highlighters I own? I think the bronzer is really great and goes on smoothly, same with the luminizer, however I do feel like if you are used to a highlight that is more showstopping, there are better ones out there.

But then again, are they Dior? :p.

Smooth kisses: Four lip products you need for smooth lips

My desert island beauty product? It would definitely have to be a lip balm.

I know, I know, so boring, right? But here’s the thing, everyone uses lip balm. Even if you aren’t a makeup person, there is still a spot for lip balm in your life.

So, with so many options for lip balms out there, it can get a little overwhelming when it comes to choosing the right one for you. Although I own a million different balms (they are literally spread out everywhere – in my condo, work, car, various purses, etc… you get the idea), it never hurts to have a few more, am I right? 😉

Anyways, since I can’t seem to own enough of these little lip savers, I’m always so pumped when new ones come in as well. Which brings us to today’s post and my top picks if you are looking for some new lippies to add to your collection.

lip balm products from Laneige, Avon, and Fenty Beauty

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm

I am a huge fan of Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (seriously, if you don’t own this yet, go out and buy it! I put this on every night and the pot will last you a lifetime), so I was naturally very excited when the Korean skincare and makeup brand came out with the daytime version, Lip Glowy Balm (C$18), a couple months ago.

The Lip Glowy Balm is available in four fruity flavours (Berry, Peach, Pear, and Grapefruit) with a sheer tint of colour to it (very sheer). This product is a comfortable lightweight balm that hydrates lips, as well as adds a subtle tint to them. The formula contains murumuru and shea butters to pack on hydration and keep your lips moisturized for longer.

The Lip Glowy Balm is definitely a thinner texture compared to the Lip Sleeping Mask (and honestly, you could use this one instead of the sleeping one for night as well), but it has a nice wear to it and feels light on the lips and not sticky (very important if you have long hair!).

I have this in the colour Peach and although there is a slight tint to it, it’s really not that noticeable. If you would rather one that is translucent, then I would look into the Pear flavour, which is green in packaging, but completely clear on.

Laneige Lip Oil and Avon Lip Balm

Avon Anew Vitamin C Antioxidant Lip Treatment

If you’re looking for a little pep, then take a look at Avon’s new Vitamin C lip balm.

This new lip balm is part of their Anew Vitamin C line, which also includes a heated scrub, some face masks, and a few other products. The balm is orange scented and conditions lips to keep them looking healthy and youthful. It comes in a traditional lipstick tube and although the product is orange in colour, it applies translucent on the lips.

The balm is formulated with vitamins C and E and also plumps and smooths the lips. It retails for C$20, but is currently on sale or C$9.99.

Fenty Pro Kiss'r Lip Scrub

Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm and Lip-Loving Scrubstick

When I got a box from Fenty Beauty in the mail a couple weeks ago I was surprised that it opened up to some lip care goodies from the brand.

Everything else in the line is very makeup focused, so I was pleased to see that she’s venturing into more products that prep the skin for the rest of her line.

First up is the Lip-Loving Scrubstick (C$21), which is a retractable lip scrub that gently exfoliates lips, removing dead skin cells and prepping them for lipstick.

The formula contains apricot seed scrubbers to really buff out any dead skin and the lightweight, non-greasy formula is perfect for getting your lips ready for lipstick, lip gloss, or balm.

Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss'r Balm and Scrubstick

Speaking of which, pair the scrub with the Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm (C$23), which is a creamy, lightweight, clear balm that glides over the lips instantly infusing them with hydration.

At first glance, you would think the cap opens up to a angled tip to apply the product, but surprisingly it’s a doe-foot applicator, which I definitely prefer more. This formula is also non-greasy or sticky and contains shea and mango seed butters to soothe and moisturize the lips, leaving them softer, smoother, and ready for morning, bed, before makeup, you name it.

Although it appears clear to me, Fenty does say it has an invisipink sheen to it with a light peach-vanilla scent that is pleasing to apply. As far as I’m concerned, Fenty can do no wrong, and although it’s a lot for a lip routine, these are definitely a treat to have in your collection (especially if you aren’t really a makeup wearer but want to pick up something Fenty related).

All four of these products would be a perfect addition to your collection. The great thing about lip balms is that everyone can use them, regardless if you are into makeup or not.  Whether you’re picking up the Laneige one, the Avon one or the Fenty one, all three will please your lips and keep them nice and hydrated as we head into the summer months.

What’s your favourite lip balm?
