Shine bright… Fenty Beauty celebrates one-year with Diamond collection

Shine bright like a diamond… Sorry, I just had to make a Rihanna reference here since the singer recently just released a one-year anniversary collection featuring shimmering textures.

Consisting of three diamond-inspired products, this Fenty Beauty collection was released earlier this month and features a Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Diamond Milk, a Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil in How Many Carats? and a Face and Body Kabuki Brush.

I received two out of the three items from the collection, the lip gloss and brush, and couldn’t wait to play around with everything since the other items from Fenty I’ve tried thus far I’ve been really impressed with.

The Gloss Bomb Lip Luminizer (C$23) features the same formula as the original Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow, but this one is a milky-pearlescent finish that adds a wash of shimmer to the lips, while making them appear larger and smoother.  The wand on this is very large, however, it adds just the right amount of gloss to the lips for an all-over shine that you’ll be applying over and over again.  I’m not really a gloss person myself, but I actually really like how this applies and feels.  It is sticky, however, it’s incredibly moisturizing and considering the amount of shimmer there is in here, it isn’t grainy in texture. I’m surprised that she only has two shades of this product since the formula is really incredible. Lips look drenched in diamonds and feel hydrated. I totally recommend this one!

The Face & Body Kabuki Brush 160 (C$42) is a pink fluffy kabuki brush that is custom angled to help with blending liquid and powder formulas. This brush has synthetic bristles and is super soft, making it perfect for blending in makeup. It’s so pretty that I had a hard time using it since I didn’t want to mess up the beautiful pink bristles. As the name suggests, you can use this for both face and body, and although it’s great to pair with a setting powder, it also does wonders for adding some body oil to the shoulders, legs, chest, you name it.

As mentioned, this collection also includes a Diamond Bomb All-Over Diamond Veil, a highlighter for face and body. I didn’t receive this particular item, but it pairs nicely with the brush as well.

I absolutely love this collection and my only complaint is that she didn’t release more items in it.  I would have loved to have seen maybe an eyeshadow palette and a glittery highlighter.  With the holidays coming up though, I’m sure Fenty Beauty is keeping their cards close to their chest and will release something truly spectacular.

Please note, I was sent these products from PR. All opinions are my own.

Ultra colour: Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipsticks

I have a love-hate relationship with red lipstick.

Red lipstick is a classic in anyone’s makeup collection. In fact, I would probably say it’s the colour most people purchase. There’s something so feminine and daring about red lipstick. Although it’s incredibly sexy, it’s also incredibly messy, which is the reason I don’t often wear it.

But then Dior Makeup comes out with a new lipstick collection that has a ton of reds and I can’t help but want to slather my lips in it.

Brand new to the makeup line are the Dior Ultra Rouge lipsticks, with a formula that Dior Makeup’s creative and image director Peter Philips, describes as “an overprint, like an ink tattooing the lips and like an extremely weightless coloured film.”

There are 26 new, highly saturated shades in this line that is filled with reds, pinks, browns, mauves, and even a white and black.

These pigmented lipsticks are billed to offer up to 12 hours of wear with a luminous, semi-matte finish, and a hydrating, comfortable wear.  Since that’s a high claim, I was very excited to get my hands on some of the shades. The brand sent me two shades to try out, Ultra Kiss, a coral pink, and Ultra Spice, a brownish red.  Both shades melted onto my lips and gave me a bold wash of colour that felt hydrating and comfortable. These don’t dry down like a liquid lipstick would, so you will have to be careful when wearing them, but the colour did last me a long time even after eating and drinking.

Overall, I really like how these wore on the lips. I’m always slathering my lips in lip balm and the moisturizing factor in these was very comfortable and a breath of fresh air for my lips. Out of the two shades, I really love Ultra Kiss since it’s such a fun bold colour. Since I live and breathe in nudes, I’m sad there’s no nudes in the collection since I feel like I would keep one of those on me at all times, but if you love bold colours then I really think you’ll love these.

From work to life: My favourite fall fashion items from Le Chateau

Fall is totally my favourite season.

Although we are still technically in summer, the weather is getting cooler here in Winnipeg and I’ve already been craving everything pumpkin spice (don’t tell anyone, but I totally had a PSL the day they came out).  Aside from everything pumpkin, one of my favourite things about the season is totally the fashion. I love chunky sweaters, pants, boots, and long cozy jackets.

Since I work in an office, fall also means that I can actually dress for the weather, rather than being way too hot in office clothes for +30 degrees.  Since a new season means new clothes, I was so excited to pop into some of my favourite retailers to pick up some new pieces for fall.  One of those retailers was Le Chateau since I’ve basically known about the Canadian brand for pretty much my whole life and I love how fashion-forward their items are (not to mention the fact that they are from the stylish city of Montreal).

My colleague Dayna and I (who is also one of my besties) popped into the CF Polo Park location a couple weeks ago and in true Shayna-Dayna form, picked up similar outfits from their new fall 2018 workwear collection. I can’t tell you how many pieces of clothes we have that are the exact same (seriously, one of us will buy something and then the next day, the other one has it).

We often text each other at lunch asking to go for a walk in the area or grab a coffee, so throwing on this stunning and warm Check Print Brushed Viscose Sweater Coat has totally come in handy (we both ended up buying this one and didn’t even plan it). I love pairing it with this super flattering and totally work-appropriate Polka Dot Print Tie Neck Blouse, which to be honest, I didn’t think the whole print-on-print thing would jive, but I love how complementary the two patterns look.

Both Dayna and I picked up Tech Stretch Skinny Leg Pant in black, which is a super flattering and comfortable pant. Since these are slim, I love tucking either a bodysuit or a blouse (like the white polka dot one) into them and then pairing it with a jacket for a totally on-trend fall look. When we went for coffee earlier this week, Dayna paired the pants with this super cute black bodysuit from the Roxy Earle Le Chateau line (I have it in pink) and then threw on this stunning yellow faux-suede jacket that drapes in the front. The yellow really added that pop of colour (no self-plug intended) and totally reminded me of the changing leaves of the season.

Although I often use my lunch hours to catch up on blog stuff, I do try to make a point a couple times a week to leave my desk and get some fresh air.  Since we have so many coffee shops in the area around where we work, a simple text with the word “walk?” usually gets us out of the office, grabbing a coffee, and chatting about stuff that isn’t work related (work-life balance, ya know?).

How do you spend your lunch hours? Also, what is your favourite fall fashion item?
